Was kind of fun killing that gigantic swamp monster at lvl ~13 with like 70 other people, way too easy though because I think I never lost any hp but gigantic monsters still pretty fun(Of course I'm leveling incredibly slowly, I think I might hit lvl 80 by october)

Yes, WvWvW (PVP) or Crafting.

Don't you need to PVE to gather materials for crafting?

Hey, since the mass exploit the game is not selling on the website anymore. Been playing on an old friends account the last few days and I'm going to get GW to play casually. Does anyone know where I can get the DIGITAL version of the game for cheap online (outside of guildwars2 . com, obviously)? Cheers.

It's probably significantly faster to get the materials thru pve, but there are some pve mobs in the WvWvW map and players that you kill there sometimes drop loot that you can salvage.

I'm curious about this game because it seems alot of people praise it, however after researching it a bit i still feel like i know very little about it, everyone seems to just talk about how great it looks and how good the combat is etc. but not so much about what u actually do in the game, so any information would be appreciated. What i'm wondering is what kind of endgame does the game have, ie what do i do once i hit max level? From what i've read PvP is the main focus of the game and it seems i don't even have to level or gather gear for that, the game just gives everyone the same stuff for free, so is there any kind of raids or major PvE content?

Thanks! Unfortunately, no standard editions there.
EDIT:

Guild Wars is all about PvP. There's very limited PvE content. On top of that, certain PvE skills can't even be used in PvP so there's little gain from going all-out.

I think they temporarily stopped selling digital copies to stabalize the server loads, rather than keep selling when they don't have the servers set up yet to handle more players.

What the hell is wrong with the WvWvW queueing system? My friends got in within 5 minutes and I've been waiting for an hour already even though we queued at the same time on the same server. This has happened multiple times already with us.
The party system needs major updating, you don't get into the same overflow, you don't get into the same dungeon instance, you can't queue together... This is a MMORPG, correctly working systems should be in place to facilitate playing with other players....

No time to travel into the city and buy it in a store. Ah well!

There is pve, but the focus isnt really on "end game" raiding from what I have seen so far, and with no monthly fee I don't expect to see tons of new raid focused content on a regular basis like say WoW. That being said ALL the zones scale you down to their level when you go to explore them, so even at level 80 you can go to a starting zone you haven't explored yet and do the content there and have it be level appropriate. You do need to level to do world vs world pvp if you want access to all your possible skills and talent points, though you can contribute and level while playing WvWvW almost from the start. My impressions are that this wouldn't be a first choice for someone who is primarily interested in PvE raiding style MMO play though.
For pvp and small party/solo pve though it has been fun so far, and with the auto-level to 80 battle ground style sPvP option you can test out different classes at max level without commiting to leveling them 80 levels first. I am not at lvl 80 yet and don't see any real need to speed thru since I have been doing alot of pvp that doesn't require it. Only time will tell if it will still be fun at 80 a few months from now for me, but at worst I will have gotten that much play time out of it with no subscription fees which is more play time than most single player PC games would give me.

I agree that this is my main complaint with the game right now. I know that it is a known bug they are working on, but the difficulties in keeping a party together any time anyone in the party zones is pretty frustrating. Sometimes the Join In option works when you right click on their portrait, but many times that option doesn't even show up, or doesn't work when you click it.

From what i've read PvP is the main focus of the game and it seems i don't even have to level or gather gear for that, the game just gives everyone the same stuff for free, so is there any kind of raids or major PvE content? Endgames are focused around sPvP, WvW, and PvE dungeons. While you can argue WvW/PvP is the main focus of the game, you will definitely get your $60 worth from just PvE. I'll address everything one by one.
sPvP is structured PvP. This is basically competitive play; it takes the form of organized teams battling it out or "quick matches" which are basically just the game matching you up with a bunch of people for pick up matches. In sPvP, your character is automatically scaled up to level 80 with all skills and traits unlocked and you're given max equips. This is ONLY used in structured PvP and the idea behind this is to even the competitive playing field. To further this competitive environment, racial abilities that are available in WvW and PvE are also disabled for use in sPvP. Everywhere else (WvW and PvE) you do not get these stats/gear. You can play GW2 without ever touching sPvP and have a damn good time.
WvW is basically 4 gigantic connected maps where 3 different servers battle it out. In WvW, everyone is scaled up to level 80. However, you're not given any max level gear and you also don't get skills/traits unlocked the way you do in sPvP. Rather, you use whatever it is you currently have in PvE. So while everyone has the same base lvl 80 stats, the guy who's spent more time in the game and got to lvl 80, unlocked every skill/trait and has max stat gear, will definitely have an advantage over the guy who just started playing the game and has nothing (assuming equal player skill ofc). WvW is a huge scale fight with hundreds of players on a single map duking it out. It's quite fun, but can be frustrating/boring if you're playing completely alone or for the first time. You pick it up pretty fast, however, and it's very easy to find big groups to run around with.
PvE is kinda like your standard MMO play. There are differences from the generic WoW-type MMO with dynamic events and stuff. In terms of endgame, there's plenty. Dynamic events scale with the difficulty of the area so once you get to high level areas, dynamic events can be damn tough. Even some of the events in low level areas are already quite difficult. Additionally, there are also instanced dungeons, which are designed for 5 man teams. Dungeons are fucking hard. There's two modes: story mode and explorable mode. Story mode is considerably easier and you need to clear story mode before you unlock explorable mode. This is essentially your "raids." While PUGs and unorganized teams can clear story mode, an unorganized PUG will likely spend hours on explorable mode and maybe not even manage to clear it. You get tokens for clearing explorable mode and you trade them in for unique gear you can only get from these dungeons. For the most part, gear differences are purely cosmetic once you get to end-game gear.
At the moment, GW2 is pretty stable and the launch has been really damn good especially compared to some other recent launches of big titles like D3. Server stability is damn good; there's been essentially no server issues in terms of disconnects and lag after the first day of the headstart weekend. For the most part, game-breaking bugs have been ironed out although certain quests are a bit buggy (but for the vast majority of them there's ways around those bugs). That's not to say there hasn't been issues. There's been some pretty significant issues such as the party/queue system issues people have addressed before me. The trading post has pretty much been down the whole time due to their system being unable to support the vast amounts of concurrent users playing GW2 atm. There's also been some somewhat controversial issues with exploits resulting from ANet oversight on pricing of certain items in game; these have all been fixed and addressed though.

Thanks for the replies, very informative. Looks like a cool game, i generally enjoy PvE the most in Mmo's though but might just give it a try since there's no monthly fee anyway.

QUESTION: How is the Cash Item??!?!?
Do they have stuff like FUCKING MAPLESTORY?
What I mean by that is, do some of the cash items give Strength ADVANTAGE (moer powerful, teleport anywhere, gain extra 50% exp, etc) for you character? if its LIKE MAPLESTORY CASH ITEM, I am not playing another cash item fest game
Thank you for your kind answers my friends!

Yes they do have a lot of exp boost, and many other. You buy gems from their store which you can exchange for gold in game, with that you can buy the most powerful items with stats from trade post. There are only some skins which you cannot buy, only earn in game. It's the way they sustain their servers and other expenses.

you don't need to spend a dime in game. You also won't be at any real disadvantage if you don't.
