As far as gearing up is concerned, the emphasis is much less compared to games like World of Warcraft, simply due to the fact that everyone's gear is normalized stat-wise in structured PvP. We don't know enough about the max-level PvE content to say definitively how much gear is going to come into play with it, but judging from how the rest of the game has been approached, I imagine the gear emphasis there will be less than in other games as well.

Thanks for the info :D Hows PvE or general gearing up ... similar to WoW I would guess? And what about healing? Did they totaly get rid of the "healing class" as we know? In videos it seems that most people just heal themself mostly... But i like healing :O So u cant be the complete super healer anymore?! Heres the thing that a lot of people dont realize, The fact that you can tank, heal and dps doesnt mean you're meant to do all 3(not that you couldnt if you wanted to) It just means you will have the ability. For example if a Guardian whats to focus on boons(support) then he would have to spec into it and get gear that is good for that spec and if later he finds a group and they seem to be weak as a tank role ( don't have the gear or skills or w/e ) and this gaurdian happens to do well in tanking having some gear for it and experience then he can choose to do that. The fact every class can do healing, dps and tanking doesnt mean you will be doing all 3roles on every boss encounter It just has the option. For some certain bosses im sure you're going to need to do all 3 or 2 or w/e where the boss is randomly single targeting players for a duration then you will need to be ready to switch weapons and have those ultilities skills available to you for the moment and then there will be other bosses where some players can just purely focus on dps. And gear wise it will be similiar to WoW in the sense that quests will give you gear towards your proffession but towards end game gearing you wont be stressed to play every day to get the best gear because a new set of gear is going out 2months later and if you stop playing for a while because of work or life w/e and an expansion comes out you wont be that much out of the game where you will be embarassed to log on because you havent played in 2-3months and people have greens that are as good as your rares that took you weeks or months to get. It will be more so based on skill rather then the gear you have not saying better gear wont help of course EDIT : Heres a link so you can see traits(talent tree) for proffessions. You will see that certain "trees" will boost your healing or tanking or support or dps abilities. so you will have to choose what you want to be good at. Cant have it all ![]() http://www.gw2builds.org/create/bwe_1/guardian

Many servers, but character names are shared across all servers (Only one character will be named "X" across all the servers, or at least region-specific servers). You can interact with players from other servers with no limitation (although guesting onto your friends won't be out for launch). The only exception to this is the "World vs World" PVP which is server-specific (your team will always be your server, and your two opponents in the 3-way FFA will always be two other servers which rotate every two weeks). BGs/Dungeons/World/etc will all be cross-server and I believe the market is region-wide across servers as well but I might be wrong about that.

And there is not a single targeted healing spell in the game. Merely mitigation spells and some minor AoE heals. The brunt of your healing comes from your self heal. You survive fights by actively dodging and supporting each other. No clicking and healing though. There is no "healing" class or spec. There can be supports where there can be healing byproducts in an AoE sense, but support classes generally serve far greater purposes like, as said before, damage mitigation, damage increase, so on and so forth. Like the Guardian's shield spell can put up a giant dome that protects you from damage, and can explode to do a small heal to everyone inside the dome. Or the engineer can put down a healing turret that sprays mist every like 10-15 seconds. There's healing in the game of course, but it's not emphasized. They are trying to even out the responsibility. Not give the stigma of having a "Main" tank and "Main" healer that are the 2 most important people in the group.

As with most drama, the thread seems to be full of a lot of speculation/shaky arguments with a tiny amount of evidence mixed in. Hopefully someone from ascension/team legacy responds soon with a good response. At least we would have 2 sides to the argument then. 1) How long does it take to download (I have at max 1 MB/s download...) & install the game to be ready for the stress test as soon as servers go up? I might go to GameStop tomorrow but if I have to, I'll go right now to pre-purchase it (I might trade in some old games so GameStop's probably where I'm going to have to get it). 2) Does PvE scale down if a player decides to solo it? Oh, and are there AI that you can add to your party like the original GW (I only played a couple hours of the original so I'm not too experienced w/ GW in general)? 3) Will I be significantly behind if I haven't played GW or is it only for the Hall of Monuments that playing the original ones matter? 4) My MMORPG experience consists of about 100 hours to 300 hours max of RuneScape, 100 to 200 hours of Twelve Sky, and tad bits but not too significant of other MMOs; what can I learn from these games that will help with GW2 and what should I learn/forget/relearn? Thanks. =)

2) Yes, it scales depending on how many people are doing the dynamic events. There are no AI party members like the old GW. 3) No everyone starts on equal footing. People that did the Hall of Monuments thing simply get some special looking gear, nothing that makes them more powerful. 4) I'll let someone else answer this.

Thanks. =) 1. Currently my Guild Wars 2 folder is 16 GB.Even if you do get 1MB/s a second, it would still take many hours to download. The good thing is that even though it's not possible to log in, it's perfectly possible to download updates for the game. I even think it's possible to get your hands on the download/update client and start downloading the game right away, even if you currently don't have a key. 2. I wouldn't say that the PvE "scales down" if you solo everything. It does, however, scale things up if there are many players doing the same thing. Some events that occur, occasionally, in the game are considered group events, and are thus not solo-able. That doesn't mean that you can attempt to fight an ancient dragon on your own - it's just that you'll get your butt handed to you. I also don't feel like GW2 gives the same "soloing" experience that you could get in GW1. Basically, in GW2, you run into random people all the time, and it's perfectly possible to run around in Tyria and not be in an "official" party. Basically, people just run around and do whatever they feel like. People join and leave as they please, but you're rarely :soloing" things like you often did in GW1, i.e., running around with henchmen for hours, and not really interacting with other people, since all the gameplay areas were instanced. Oh, and there's no AI in the style of henchmen or heroes like there were in GW1. 3. No, you won't be behind; you simply wont have any of the fancy-pantsy rewards you get in HoM - like a orange tabby cat that can follow you. All of the items earned in HoM are cosmetic, so you will never be punished for not earning them. 4. Not sure what to say about this question. RuneScape and GW2 are so different it's hard to say what to learn/forget/relearn. You'll learn how to play GW2 by simply playing GW2. Some elements of GW2, like crafting, are more complicated. Luckely, there's an official GW2 wiki for that ![]() Haven't played or even heard about Twelve Sky. ------- I hope this helped you. Have a nice experience in Tyria! ^_^

I guess they technically already cut ties with the tl.net site when they stopped being open doors to all the members after they got huge traffic. I still find it HILARIOUS how they named their guild "Team Legacy" and named this thread "TL guild discussion." Pretty misleading imo.

Have a nice experience in Tyria! ^_^ Thanks for the help (and you too, Firebolt)! Since my local GameStop closes soon, I doubt I'll make it in time. Also, I quick searched for the beta client and it seems you do need an account with the pre-purchase to download it (though I could probably search around better). This means I'll probably miss tomorrow's stress test but I don't mind too much. However, with school seeming closer than I thought, I have one final question: If I decide to buy the game around the winter holiday season and be part of the the huge wave of people who do, how behind will I be? Or will I actually have an advantage? I was thinking that if I wait longer, more gears will be available and cheaper but then again, GW2 seems to stray away from grinding too hard for gears. Also, the game should be more stable; however, considering how many stress tests ANet is running, the game might just release and be very crisp (though there's still the chance of release date shenanigans that almost every game I've played has had). Oh, and PvP and WvWvW should be more balanced by then, right?

Servers will be up against servers of a similar skill level, instead of being stomped by top servers week in, week out. I suppose sPvP will also have been touched by a balance patch or two, but that could change regularly (not my area of expertise). Joining late, You won't really have any major advantages, apart from a possibly smoother game. I guess professions will have been theory-crafted a lot more, so that's a small bonus?
