My first impression is that it looks good and sound nice. Quest story seems ok too. However gameplay is horrible... Attack animations are slow as hell and annoying, you can't queue skills and there's a really annoying delay when jumping down the smallest of ledges. Is this something you get over? What are the unique points in tera that games with more flowing gameplay don't offer? I dunno what you're smoking to say the attacks are slow. You need to level more. Of course you can't queue skills, that'd lessen the skill gap. I played the game when it first came out but it didn't have any end game content. The reason it's good and different is the active aim combat system. Normal attacks were slow because the attack animation. So you're locked into place for like 0.5 seconds every swing. All skills had a 1-3 second chargeup which makes your character just stand there for that time. This together with no skill overlap which forces you to sit and spam until the animation and recovery after animation finishes makes the gameplay very chopped up imo. So you don't like it because you have to think about what skills you use so you aren't caught out in a skill animation for 1-3 seconds? I prefer not having to mash something every <1.5s GCD like WoW I think Tera has the best combat mechanics in any mmo right now, however endgame PvE is pretty lacking and PvP (or GvG) is pretty much a zergfest, I don't even think my PC can handle like 100v100 though lol. Have they implemented an arena system? I only played for the first month during release. Yes I didn't like the flow only using an attack every 3 seconds, it felt slow and boring. I've done WoW and I've done several other mmo's too. I tried Tera looking to see if it's something different, and it is in some ways although most of them bad in my opinion. But taste in gameplay is subjective. I played a berzerker to lvl 15 or there about, I didn't feel the sneak peak you get in the start where you're alot higher level was much different to the low level character so I don't think it'll grow on me gameplaywise solo. Just figured I'd ask you who like it why it's good before giving up on it. Real BAM and dungeon boss fights are far more demanding and fast paced than any random trash mobs you encounter in the first zones or even the level 20 preview (btw you keep learning core class skills all the way to 60 so whatever impression you have of how your class plays at 20 runs on limited information at best). Berzerker is also the most "slow" class in terms of how long it takes for some moves to resolve. In those 3 seconds you complain about, my Warrior could unleash 4-5 different moves (and still do less DPS T_T). I've also "done WoW and several other mmo's" and TERA was markedly more viscerally satisfying, fast, and responsive. There are also plenty of animations that can be canceled too, so look into that. Berserker is easily the slowest class in the game and also has one of the smallest movesets. You should try Slayer or Warrior and see if it's your thing. The problem is that Slayers feel kind of awkward until level 16 when they get Overhead Strike and Warriors don't get Rain of Blows until level 28 so they might feel a little weak in the beginning.

So how do you make money now? Since crystals price dropped severely, I'm assuming BAM hunting doesn't do jack anymore.

Kinda wish that would hurry up and come out here in the west.
I want to play B&S, but I think it will be a LONG time before it comes to NA.

so if i want to try this game until it goes f2p i should make an NA account?

I just finished DLing the game. Which server should I go?
edit: i think i will do celestial hills.... i never played mmo before and i don't feel like pvp =\

Is there a class that's anything the shadow priest from WoW? As in very self-reliable, heal, damage, cc and support all in one (regardless of how good you perform these roles)

Well PvP server is where everyone is at.

Funny thing is, I think I have more fun leveling/questing than I do hanging out at endgame. Usually I stick with 1 character in MMOs and games in general, but now I'm starting my 2nd alt. Outlaw mode is cool, only thing is sometime I spend more time pvp'ing than actually leveling. There's enough players at all level ranges that I don't have this urge to get to endgame, the endgame kinda sucks. Fresh 60's don't have a chance against PVP geared 60s.

OK I tried this game for a couple of hours now and leveled a priest to lvl 8. I have a question...
+ Show Spoiler +When does this game get fun? Like, instead of just clicking on monsters and complete quests (aka kill X of monsters), actually do something that is... interesting?

Soon you fight the first boss, which is a good sign of things to come. Then it's back to some dull questing. Things start getting fun when you get your Basilisk quest around level 18-20, and from then on you will start fighting stronger mobs (I'm not sure if they classify as BAM's) along with the trashy ones. If you're lucky you'll run into a BAM while questing (I ran into a group fighting one in Celestial Hills and decided to join them in the fun but I died to poison after it was downed) and test your skills on it. I'm only level 27 but once you get the first instance this games goes from "meh" to "Aw yeah, fun time!"

Yup, you'll have to go through some boring stuff in the beginning but once you start fighting BAMs and doing the instances, that's where it gets very fun and challenging.

Exceeeeeeeeeeeeept....they're about to nerf the fuck out of BAM's. They already have on ktera. at 53 zerkers with a 50 gold +0 full charge strike can do about 10% of it's health. They reduced the amount of enrages (0 at 30, maybe 1 at 50) and made it so the monster drops health and mana orbs if you hit it while it's enraged. They also scaled down the xp per kill, the number needed per quest and the xp per quest. Pretty shitty. BAMS were the only worthwhile thing while leveling in that game.

Why though? Is it to help people who want to solo them? BAM's don't seem powerful enough to warrant a nerf.

From what I'm reading it's so that priest/mystics can solo them more easily. Which I don't understand. I rolled a mystic and kept it from CB all the way till now and had no issues killing bams. Of course it takes longer, we are a support class, but it's no where near impossible.

Yeah, the BAM nerf makes no sense to me. At least the dungeons are still a nice respite while you're leveling.

Fair warning: Celestial Hills is the designated roleplaying server and from what I understand it's a complete ghost town. Not a problem for queuing up for dungeons or battlegrounds, but it might be harder to find groups for questing.
Also, En Masse added more free game time: http://tera.enmasse.com/news/posts/we-re-adding-game-time-to-your-account
Hey Everyone,
We’ve seen a great response to TERA: Rising, our transition to making TERA free for everyone. In addition to that great news, we also reactivated all past subscribers for seven days, giving you a chance to come back and experience TERA again.
Unfortunately, we’ve had a few technical difficulties during this reactivation period. These made it difficult for some players to get into game. The good news is that those issues have now been addressed and everyone can once again access TERA.
We’d like to make it right, though. So for all our players—past, present, and future—we’re adding seven days of game time to your account to compensate for the time lost. You don’t have to do anything to activate this additional time—we’ll add it right to your account.
Our community is and has always been our top priority. Please enjoy the extra time, and thanks for being part of the life of a game we love.

Question: between Priest and Mystic, which is better at soloing? Which is more party-friendly?

Because past lumbertown bridge it's not really a problem, griefers just hang out there because it's where the low level players are. Past lumbertown the game's fine in that regard, still waiting for it to get fun though lol.
