Some guys just can't handle the responsibility of being a head coach. There's so much more to being a HC than an OC/DC. Some of them are brilliant football minds, but they can't motivate players. I know that they should be motivated by the millions they are making, but the fact is that sometimes even rich people aren't motivated to work hard, and that's where the HC comes in. Additionally, you have to know how to pick good coordinators. Wade is not a guy that can get his players to play for him, or build a great coordinating team, but he's a great DC. On the other hand, I think Lovie Smith is a suspect DC, but he's a very good HC, because he has put together a good supporting cast around him, and players refuse to quit playing for the guy.

Right. Forgot about that, and Mangini is exactly the kind of guy who would stubbornly try to force his system down their throats too.

The main scheme is mainly Bill's anyway, he's the real brilliance of that team. To add to that our absolute worst defensive year in the Belichick era was when he was coordinator. Of course the reason for that was mostly age and injuries, which have nothing to do with Mangini, but the idea of him being some sort of genius mostly comes out of thin air. He had nothing to back it up besides the favor of Belichick at the time, and I'll be the first to admit, Belichicks coaching tree has been a huge failure so far.

It's absurd that Jack Del Rio got to keep his job this season. Coughlin's job looks safe as well. I don't think Coughlin is as bad as some people here think, but he does make some horrible decisions at times. That's a very talented, underachieving team, I think.

Coughlin is as bad as some people here think, but he does make some horrible decisions at times. That's a very talented, underachieving team, I think. We have to remember he won a Super Bowl not too long ago and before that win his demeanor to his fellow coached ans players made him unpopular in the locker room. They are making the playoffs next year for sure.

But if Cable does end up being fired imo that would be a huge mistake. Since 2003 the Raiders have lost 11 times each season, which is an NFL record. With the stain of Jamarcus Russel finally purged and McFadden performing at his expected level that organization has finally gained relevance. Al Davis needs to keep his hands off for now. Del Rio, of course, deserves to get fired for another mediocre season. It's tough to win in the AFC South with the Colts and Titans but they were in prime position to take the division and they failed to do so once again.

They could use a few new secondary players too. That secondary has been downright terrible ever since Robinson left.

Well, yeah, but Robinson just left this year. Their secondary could use some help, but their front seven is so talented that it can overcome the deficiencies of the secondary. You can have a minor weakness in the defense, and overcome it with a great front seven. The Bears have a bad secondary, overall, but they're a top five defense because they have a great front seven this year, and they're excellent in the RZ. I think that the Texans defense could operate very similarly to the Bears. If they could get a 3-technique they'd be ideal for a C2 scheme. GL finding a good 3-technique though.
