so in Cod4 where you had to play for 5 months before you could unlock everything instead you could just go on the interwebs and downlod a file and then some fixing faxing and then everything was unlocked. Will this game present a similar feature?

And pls post link to this file :D How can we betatest a game if we dont have acces to all the features, i dont understand T.T

Well they are slowly introducing them. Theres one new tank in the next patch and the expendables as well as some other stuff.
And this is not about "unlock", well not exactly. True that you need to grind for the tanks you want (you can have 5 in the garage) but the highest tier tanks won't be "profitable" and by that I mean that even if you do a good round (kill like 3/4 people) you will lose money, because the repairs and the ammo will cost more than you gain. If you do a bad round you will lose A LOT of money.
What happens is that you'll need to play the mid-tier tanks to actually gain money to be able to maintain your super tanks.
Not really sure how it'll work out in the end but they did that so that there wouldnt be only like last tier tanks in battles but a bit of everything.

Eh... tanks are only slow when your crew is inexperienced and you have the stock engine. The better your driver, the much more quickly you accelerate and the much slower you decelerate when going up hills. So even light tanks feel really slow at first.

Inaccurate? Well you can't shoot while moving that well, but pause and fire and your guns are >50% accurate at a reasonable range. As far as mass and power goes- well, of course not- you start off as a light tank. But it's pretty awesome to have half your team surround a Tiger and pound it to death while it sits there just absorbing everything until it finally blows sky high.

The lag is also unbearable. I'm guessing the servers are located somewhere in the Mariana Trench, or on the moon.
In Hungry Hungry Hippos there are no such constraints—one can constantly attempt to collect marbles with one’s hippo, limited only by one’s hippo-levering capabilities.

They will create north american servers in september. ^^
For us europeans it's okay. During the day there's still a bit of lag because there's a ton of people but at night it's good.

New changelog, still no fucking patch:


Increased visibility of TD when firing by 25%. Now visibility of TD firing is approximately in between versions 0.4.6 and 0.5.3.
- Assigned correct prices of the vehicles: StuGIII, JagdPzIV, JagdTiger, SU-76, SU-85B.
- Added top gun 12.8cm L/61 for JagdTiger.
- Maximum speed for TD Ferdinand increased to 30 km/h.


- Fixed balance of SPGs per a team when creating a new battle (when you had 2 times more SPGs in one team than in another).
- Number of SPGs in a battle depends from their total number in the waiting list. Now we shouldn't have situations when there are no SPGs in the battle or when half of the team consists of SPGs.
- Increased "weight" of the tanks which entered the battle in a platoon.
- When adding a tank to a battle because of timeout (after a long wait on the waiting list) battle will be balanced with consideration to the tiers. The situation when to a high tier tank added a bunch of low tiers just to balance the team out should disappear. Now such tank will fight alone (if in the opposite team the sum of "weights" of the tanks is not higher than his "weight").
- The waiting line for the battle is increased to improve the selection of the tanks when creating a new battle.
- Minor changes in the balancing of battles by tank tiers.
- KV-220 assigned Tier 5 to improve battle balancing.


- Now premium tanks do not get credits and experience when intentionally leaving the battle.
- Fixed dark screen and loading cog after the start of the battle if player alt-tab during the loading.
- Attempt to circumvent error which leads to the crash of the client when destroying ally or enemy tank.
- More apparent confirmation of installation of modules which will get damaged when uninstalling.
- Fixed "twitching" of the tank when returning from the sniper mode while moving.
- Removed check mark "ready" in the filter of the tank line in the hangar.


- Fixed time penalty calculation for reloading when loader is killed.
- Fixed display of the third ammo slot for the guns that have only two types of ammo.
- Fixed display of empty slots for expendables in the battle after they have been used in the previous battle.
- Fixed display of the text "не хватает грузоподъемности". [merig00: notification when you can't install a new module due to weight limit, I'll update it when check how it was translated in the game]
- Added markings of the platoons in the list of players.
- Added icon on the button of platoon channel.
- Fixed status of the tank in the stats table. Sometimes fully functioning tank was displayed as "destroyed", and destroyed tank as "in the battle".
- Added display of the slot purchase price on the slot itself.
- Fixed errors and some improvements made in the personnel file of the tank crew.
- Added short name for PzV-IV alpha.
- Texts for hero of a battle and medals are modified in accordance with latest changes.
- Fixed icon color of JagdTiger to the icon color of the TDs.

Also there are changes to the WoT Launcher

We are planning some big updates for the World of Tanks closed beta, which will include launching new game servers in North America and delivering a fresh patch containing new game features. To make sure everything works well, we will halt the game servers from 9 a.m. GMT August 26 till September 1.

On September 1, we will be on air again with all the players connected to the American servers. Several days after that, the new 0.5 patch will be rolled out with several new features, which are:
  • Squad fights. A squad will include 2 to 3 people and will allow players to invite their friends and join a random battle as a single fighting unit, which will help them coordinate their actions and maneuvers.
  • Additional modules. Install rammers and increase your firing rate, take suspension stiffeners and improve your tank’s tonnage, decrease visibility by installing a camouflage net, choose between dozens of upgrades that differ depending on a tank model you choose.
  • Crew kits. Equip you tank crew with fire extinguishers, repair kits, first-aid sets and other elements, with each of them providing extra help in battles.


With the new patch rolled out, all beta testers will get 5000 gold each to test the new game features. The patch will be followed by a “light” wipe when the players will go back to tier 1 tanks, but all the experience they have earned will be converted into free experience which they will be able to use at their leisure. All credits will remain as well, and losing all the tanks, modules, and shells will be compensated by corresponding amount of credits spent on buying them. If a player had a premium tank or shells, compensation will be arranged in respectful amount of gold.

One more day till next phase of Closed Beta, some interesting statistics:


  • 70,000 players took part at one time or another with 4,000 concurrent players at the highest peak
  • Beta testers played an average of 3.2 hours per day
  • 500,000 battles were fought
  • 1.5 million shots were fired

So what tanks are you guys thinking on getting after the soft wipe ?

I'm still not sure if I'll rebuy my Panther and start farming the russian medium tree or if I get the T44 and start farming something else.

I'm thinking T-34->T-34-85, into T-44. I didn't really have many complaints with the T-34, other than the gun was a bit weak...

Did you ever get the 76 mm gun for it? I found it satisfactory, one shots all lights basically and does adequate damage to mediums and artillery imo.

It fired too slowly for my taste... I went with the 56? mm gun. I did a lot more damage with that, it just didn't have quite enough penetration.
