You can evade its attacks and once you are near you only have to touch it and it's destroyed. Range units have it even easier.

+ Show Spoiler + I found it hard to believe you can kill with your gun. It would be like someone throwing cotton balls on you, OLOLOL

4 hits against random enemies at 75% strength = 300% damage compared to a normal attack without overkilling a monster because the game would auto-target another one if it died after a slash. No MP cost or no spell penalties (not blockable by spell block, no elemental damage or whatever) Easily available in the early game. That basically rendered like 99% of all the other offensive abilities superfluous.

Well Vanish-Doom is broken, but it doesn't work on everything like... Gau's Nightshade. Nightshade uses charm, spell that makes the enemy basically allied to you, attacking itself and other enemies, works on every enemy, every boss including kefka. But as you said there's a lot of stuff broken in FF6, from Psycho Cyan's unlimited attack to, well any decent combo with offering really.

Range units have it even easier. It attacks rapidly, it fires at where the enemy will be, instead of where it currently is(with an upgrade), it can hit any target in it's path and not just a spot on the ground like catapults and multiples of them can create a cross fire, so dodging to come close enough does not really happen in practical situations. Catapults had a longer range though, so they could deal with them.

If you miss your shot, and don't have close cover to go to vs anyone with any kind of aiming ability, you are dead. That being said, I was a competitive CSS AWPer, and could dominate pubs with it, but only because I knew how to play the angles. Anyone who played competitively was on even par with me with a m4/ak/etc.
