its a pleasure messi is something entirely different from wha I have ever seen in football.. Zidane was special as well in different aspects of the game but watching Messi is just stunning Maybe you'll find yourself seeing a replay and wondering if that is the speed and pace of messi in a replays / slow motion wtf is the reality looking like just like me ^^

They play way different positions. Messi if he continues like that will become more dangerous in front of the goal than Ronaldo. But he will never be a playmaker like Zidane.

![]() I just got a chance to watch the Milan vs Lecce match. Ronaldinho was really great indeed. So many chips and backheels.

edit: I honestly don't understand what Wenger has been doing these days. Wenger seems to be overly obsessed with making the "perfect" transfer and will not take anything short of that. Price too high? - its off. Bad attitude? - no deal. Too old? - nope. Doesn't fit into the system? - cant sign him Obviously when he gets it to work, it works brilliantly as we have seen with both Vermaelen and Arshavin, not to mention all of the other gems he has found throughout the years. But Walcott is gonna burn off sooner or later as he seems to do every year. Wilshere hasn't really shown up in any of the games hes started. Vela can bamboozle an entire backline but can't seem put the ball in the back of the net from 12 yards. Arsenal always seem to have extraordinary amounts of talent but none of it manifests itself into genuine, tangible silverware. It frustrates me so much. At the start of every season I open up Football Manager and play as Arsenal. I would make some sort of marquee signing that I dream Wenger would have made. One year it was Miguel Veloso (ok hes overrated, but so what), another year it was De Rossi, and this year it was Palombo. I proceed to win title/double/treble and get excited as I imagine the real-life Arsenal doing the same. 8 months onwards, half the team's injured, Emmanuel Frimpong or whichever youth Wenger decided to entrust is on the pitch getting murdered by Essien and Arsenal manages to drop 11 points in 5 matches and lose their hold on first place. They get ungraciously kicked out by Barcelona or another European heavyweight from the CL and end the season with no silverware. Wenger lets go a couple of experienced old heads and decides to reinvest the money in a couple of teenage "prodigies" and a couple of players that have more millage in their legs than a donkey. Then the cycle repeats itself again. If the same thing happens this season with Fabregas leaving, I will pull a Cleveland and burn my Arsenal jersey on Wenger's front lawn. Hopefully he'll admit to have "watched the replay".

I'm wondering what Kevin-Prince Boateng is doing there, one decent year battling relegation at Portsmouth = Milan quality?

Yes, I am new ![]() Well, did you really expect them to dominate every game in the qualifying stage and win everytime 4:0? I've just heard an interview with Klose and he admitted its really hard to motivate yourself against weak and unimportant teams like Azerbaijan. In the tournament and especially against very strong teams the German team is always very focused and plays on a totally different level.

Now in the past few years, I don't see that happening anymore, I mean look at what happened to Eduardo and Ramsey, that would never happen if those guys were playing, they would kill you (seriously). They would get suspended for 5 games before letting anybody touch their players. Now who do they have that does this, nobody. Anyways forget star players, we already have enough talent, we need a few players who grind the midfield although I can see both SONG and ABou Diabi doing this fairly well except abou diabi lacks that tenacity to play like Viera unfortunately. Let's hope this year the gunners actually get some trophy, They have the quality, they are showing more and more GRIT (watch the blackburn game) but most of all, they seem to be working hard on their defense against counter attacks and set pieces, which is what arsenal struggled with the most last season. Here's to a great new season! ![]()

Back in the Bergkamp, henry pires llungberg days, you had monsters in the back and in midfield (Lauren, Viera, Toure even parlour and Koewn) and they provided the strength and heart and courage to go for the hard tackles and they never took shit from anybody. Nobody dared to touch an arsenal player and get away with it NOBODY. Here's to a great new season! ![]() you are definitely right. the GRIT is coming back, song and wilshere, as small as they are don't cower out of challenges (i saw wilshere try to take out terry last season when he was at bolton LOL). koscielny and squillaci should be nice partners with vermaelen. walcott has just been stunning, and despite chamakh not really fitting in the way van persie does, he's been holding his own. he forced that goal against liverpool, and that's something we had trouble doing last year, forcing goals. i really wish chamakh can fill the void, RVP doesn't look like he's going to be healthy this season. fabregas and arshavin look out of place, but if walcott can finally produce, we might be ok. i feel like this might be fabregas' last year, he just doesn't seem like he wants to play at arsenal.

As a fellow gunners fan - I certainly have to agree with you two (or at least hang on to this thread of hope for this season!). I really think that apart from grit, we are missing that leader in the back organizing everyone. Apart from the set-pieces, the defensive cover and man-switching has screwed us (thinking about one of our games against man. u last year I believe) Almunia never was that type of leader/organizer and I can only hope Vermaelen can step up to be the voice of the back. And leading back to the grit, I certainly miss Lehman just yelling at everyone and not messing with him. Regarding the comments about the offensive front, I do really think that Chamakh is a massive pick-up for us. He may not have the stunning goals that RVP/Arshavin can produce but he is strong and can distribute the ball (something we've been missing since Adebayor). I really feel that him being healthy for most of the year will be crucial for us this year as he gives us a quality option (and importantly different than last year). Also, I don't know if anyone else agrees but Rosicky has been absolutely stunning this season so far. I hope he manages to find his scoring touch from outside the box again because his passing has been sublime. Cheers to all the gunners out there ![]()
