And yes, it is a shame that both Porto and Benfica can never advance too far in the Champions League because their best players are being sold off, but I feel like they are trapped in this position.
If a promising player for Porto, Benfica, or Sporting performs well the team is forced to sell them to a 'bigger' club with more money to offer because otherwise the player in question would leave on a Bosman. The Portuguese teams use this money to find new talent who in turn perform well, but have to get sold off as well.

What are the options? I don't like diving either but no league has ever retroactively penalized it; and worse, it's more or less expected in some cultures. I suppose it would be an interesting experiment if MLS tried but it could strain the league's international credibility. So we're left with refs carrying the onus.
Also, the thing is, Alexandre has been making some pretty reckless tackles ever since he got into the starting rotation. I mean terrible, wild, late lunges. Don't know how people feel about retroactive red cards on reckless plays, but considering the injuries that have happened this year, I guess MLS feels they need to take action.

I sure as hell will be since i'm Mexican-American
PLUS, .... I'm going. ^_________^ See you on TV bitches :D
My prediction: Mexico 2-1
Excited to see it, but I'm rather ticked the only US stations covering are univision and fox soccer. I don't speak spanish, and my hotel of course doesn't get fox soccer.... guess I'll have to find a stream.
Seems like Mexico usually wins this, so I'll hold my breath and hope for another miracle like Boston in Vancouver.

Whats going on with Liverpool's transfer policy haha? They're buying a ton of British players but have to fit them all in with their existing players. I imagine that many players are on their way out of Liverpool as well (Jovanovich, Poulson, Aquilani) just to keep wages lower and to ensure that the players get adequate playing time.
And as to the gold cup finals, I predict that a very tight and cagey affair. Given that both sides have attacking players that like to play centrally and because both sides are using 2 midfielders who like to play deep (Bradley and Jones for the US and Torrado and Castro for Mexico), movement and passing will be restricted. The biggest threat will obviously be Hernandez' pace so it will be interesting to see how Bradley chooses to deal with him.

it amuses me to no end when non-native english speakers who clearly have no idea about the etymology of the word think it is some sort of americanism.

Actually we could right now imo, but who is going to do it?
It's getting close, Bundesliga for example already starts early August, qualifiers for CL start soon(first round in 3 days or something, and especially the latest round will be cool because Bayern, Arsenal, Villareal and OL are playing in it)
Bayern vs Arsenal is not possible tho because both teams get seeded.
