Roman is the one who wanted Torres. Ancelloti would have taken Pato
After being treated to the wonderful football from Inter, Schalke, Madrid, Tottenham, Barcelona and Shaktar - some due to all out open football, some due to the circumstances in the game (players sent off) and some due to precision passing - watching Manchester United vs Chelsea was like WATCHING PAINT DRY!
In my head this is how the ManU v Chelsea game played out: pass, pass, sh*t pass, mistake off to the other end.... pass pass, sh*t pass, mistake... off to the other end... miss big goal scoring opportunity. Having said that, Giggs worked a stroke of genius to pass the ball to Rooney - highlight of the match - everything else BOOOOOOOOORING!

How's carrol doing?
If you look at it in terms of 'cost vs benefit' a HELL OF A LOT better then Torres...
7 Shots on Target 2 8 Shots off Target 1 57.2 Possession 42.8
yep united dominated the match.

Excuse me, at least our tie is still in the balance. There is no point in watched the other games as they are all decided. How is one team dominating the other team entertaining? (Unless you support the dominating team I guess?)

from a neutral perspective, Madrid - spurs was entertaining, although madrid controlled the game with skillful passing and dominant attacking play.
barca - shaktar was great, the final score didn't do justice to the game as luis adriano missed at least 3 clear cut chances and was frequently pressing barca on the counterattack. when shaktar gained a bit of momentum and scored i thought 3-1 would be a good result for them but they conceded 20 seconds later and then the game went stale.
didn't see inter shalke but high scoring back and forth games like that are always entertaining.
in comparison, man u chelsea was dreadful, could only watch 1st half it was so boring. only thing worth watching was ryan giggs' assist.
It's all subjective though. I get bored to death by Barcelona passing it around midfield. I would rather watch a Chelsea game (cause i am a chelsea fan i guess) or an English league game because those games aren't as one sided and have end to end action, even if the top team plays the bottom team.

Is your complaint that Barça is too good?
is it so inconceivable that he would rather watch two evenly matched teams rather than one team dominate another?
why are barca supporters in constant need of validation, i'll never understand. you're the best team in europe, no one is arguing that, that doesn't mean everyone needs to love watching you play.
have to agree with Stimp on that tbh, I really can't stand watching Barca play it just bores me to the point were I turn to another match no matter who they're playing.
i like to see highlight rerolls of any barca game, but the 60 minutes posession in the center circle always puts me off from watching a complete game. same thing with spain at the worldcup.
apart from that, i like games that are feasible to go either way, with a lot of counterattacking and high-speed-1v1 situations.
kudos to the guy who said that the additional ref's at the goal are pointless. cause they are. that is just fucking makeup. they never do anything.

damn man, you missed an epic game, and who the hell ever thought that a german team besides Bayern(who lost to inter the round before, iirc ) could score 5 times at san siro. be sure to catch at least a recap video. and, it's "Schalke". although writing it like you did would lead to a more correct pronounciation for most of you english-speaking guys, i guess.
I must agree as well. Barca are an excellent team, one of the all time greatest. Watching that team, especially their midfield, make plays under pressure is amazing.
But teams have figured out that you can't win the possession battle vs Barca. So they try to replicate what Inter did - sit deep, defend, and counter. Barca responds by slowing down, holding the ball for minutes at a time, and making safe passes that don't risk a counter which they have ample time to pick out because they are under no pressure.
Few teams can make a game against them exciting for a neutral fan.

Barca could be really awesome to watch - but they did not only master the art of football, they are masters of diving and playing theatralic aswell. I hate it so much....
i must agree with you on some part there, i saw it when they played in Denmark vs Copenhagen and it looked so grim, especially alves is a player i despise as he was laying down he intentionally without any reason just kicked oscar wendt but ofcourse the referee didn't see it. And because they're barca the referees tend to go a little easier on them. fuck that shit. victor valdes should've had a red card for what he did. My heart stood still and i remember it as it was yesterday
dani alves acting like a pussy
edit: nevermind that was too much from valdez, probably should of ...edit2: 100% was a red.
and alves being a disgrace? what? all he did was crash into a player he didn't see and get right back up.. :O edit: sorry i didnt see alves give the guy a little nudge, but still not really a big deal common...
Also...Torres why are you so bad? Why in the hell did Chelsea sub out drogba when he was one of the players who was doing alot, instead of subbing out torres who was horrendous... I couldn't understand that.

wow bias much? what valdez did was questionably a card since he clearly got contact with the ball first and keepers usually have the right away in situations like that. and alves being a disgrace? what? all he did was crash into a player he didn't see and get right back up.. :O
Uh, I'm not even sure how to begin explaining to you what Valdes did wrong - Stevie Wonder knew that was a red + extra suspension. You also think it's ok for Alves to kick players in the knee away from the ball...if the FCK player was Busquets he'd probably still be on the ground grimacing (and peeking up at the ref to make sure he sees). You should reconsider who is being biased here.
I came very close to buying a Torres kit back in January...then I thought about it and decided I should wait until next season's kit is released. I'm definitely glad I waited and didn't break my rule of only buying jersey's of players who I know will be regulars (Terry, Lamps, Essien so far). It would have been a massive waste to spend $100 on Torres and then be ashamed to wear it out in public.
Also the hastorresscored website is brilliant, I'm glad that someone is getting some joy out of this transfer because we certainly aren't at the moment - hopefully next year.
Give him a full pre season and time to integrate into the squad then judge. I still stand by how Berbatov was given two seasons before he became the second coming.
