LOL I have a few friends who are in exactly the same situation but they still want to know what happens, so I started a youtube walkthrough of the game for them.

There are already a decent amount available on youtube but most have running commentary from the person recording which kind of ruins the immersion imo.

Also those kinda commentaries are infinitely more fun when you already played the game cause you know where the scary stuff is! :D

Steam just downloaded an expansion for the game for me.
Anyone check it out yet?

This fucking game. I haven't even gotten that far yet + Show Spoiler + but the atmosphere is just killing me. My longest playing session was like 30 minutes... I think i'll shit my pants once i get further into the game. Completing it will be so satisfying tho .

I finished it a week ago, probably one of the sickest games i've ever played, such a great atmosphere. Too bad that's quite short, i wish they had more money to make something bigger and harder. (that's what she said)

I just played through most of it, then spoiled myself because one of the monsters gained an insane amount of speed at a very untimely point and there's no saving. Didn't want to start over.
It's short but sweet- maybe an hour if you go slowly/have to restart. Also, quite the mind bender... the story anyways. >_>

wow... i just died in Justine mode, no save
+ Show Spoiler [my progress] +I dunno how far I was but i accidentally killed 2 guys because I was curious what the levers do
|
The new DLC is... Okay. Quite short. Very simple to get the potato for the portal 2 early release thingy. Only thing that got my heart racing was: + Show Spoiler +when you are in the water with the levers and valves. All in all, not bad. Nice portal-esque design, as well as a nice ending sentance wrapping it all up.

I got round to buying this game on Steam this weekend. I've played for an hour going really slowly and I am already scared shitless. I was playing at 3:30 in the morning in a pitch black room with my headphones on full. I haven't even encountered any monsters yet and I'm already skeptical on trying to finish this. Oh, give me strength :p

I hate to admit it but as a grown man (21) this game caused me to actually have nightmares, even just hearing the word "sanctum" on TV the other day made me start thinking about this game, it's insane that something so simple and harmless can actually get into a persons mind as much as this game. Definitely recommend this to anyone who hasn't already played it or even watched a let's play on you tube...scary...scary game.

I cannot wait to play this game. I have big into horror storys recently. I have a week to do nothing, so I will be playing Starcraft and Amnesia all week! Seeing everyone in the thread having a good time discussing it made me want to play it even more haha. Tomorrow here I come Amnesia. :D
|
I bought this last month, and with finals over am only now finding time to play it.
I'll say this: I'm beginning to understand why an effective horror game can be scarier than an effective horror movie (effective is the key word here). It's because the whole thing forces you to be an instrument in your own terror. If the movie's playing, the protagonist is going to open that door, throw that lever, go down that dark hallway, and all you do is passively observe. In a game, you're pressing the buttons, you're walking down that hallway, you're opening the door on the thing you least want to see.
To paraphrase Yahtzee: "The game is basically giving you a giant sheet of sandpaper and shouting encouragement as you vigorously massage your own under-carriage."

I shitted bricks when i played it alone at night with 5.1 emulation on high volume. (Compared to this, dead space is a FPS :D).
I can play it with np when my friend comes at home, sicne she always wants me to play it, but once we got reaçlly fucking scared (to the point of screaming), i hope they get more of this soon, the game is 2 short 8(.
|
I played an entire run-through a few days ago on stream. Everyone laughed when I screamed like a little girl ): Recorded and uploaded too.
|
This game is the most terrifying thing there is xD! I recently played through this game at a LAN with a couple of friends but still with so many people around, me and my mates still screamed like little girls. If you are into horror games/movies or whatever or just like a great game you should deffinently check it out (;
P.S
Play it in the dark with headphones on, the atmosphere is superb.
|
Bought this months ago but just now have I tried it. Playing it during the night with headphones is the most terrifying thing I've ever experienced. I seriously wouldn't have thought that a game can have an effect like this (games like Dead Space and other 'horror' games make me just lol) but goddamnit, you feel so hopeless all the time.
Awesome game, hopefully I'll be able to finish it some day, but the progress is quite slow since I just get waaaay too scared after playing it for like an hour. (

started today. got past the first hallway and got so freaked i shut it off lol. maybe ill try again tomorrw if i dont have a hangover

Started playing 2 days ago, what an amazing game!
But I'm stuck and I can't seem to find a way out... Need help pls. + Show Spoiler +I'm in the prison now, and just lowered the waterlevel. Now I need a vaccine to be able to go into the morgue. The damn lever does not work for me - I googled after trying to find a way for an hour and the lever is supposed to lower the bridge to the morgue a little bit so that I can knock it down with a stone or something, but it just does not do anything. What can I dew?(Tillerman voice). I did not see anything mentioned that I have to do prior to that, or is there something? The control room does not seem to help, I already did everything I think I can do there, meaning I started the machines.
YAY Just did it + Show Spoiler +Should've remembered Wesley ... from Halfbaked
