Don't feed the trolls guys. No need to have 5 pages in a row speculating about the inclusion of a plvl ladder. Something that literally has no effect on gameplay shouldn't get this much coverage.

As someone who didn't play through more than Act 1 of Diablo 2, ever, I'm way more excited by ladder because of the fresh start aspect than anything else. Were the leaderboards and racing really that prominent? What made ladder in D2 so successful?

exclusive items was the reason I did play it (I would have liked not being forced there, not a problem for D3 ladder thou). For most other people it was the reset of the economy, trading being fun again. Some did it for the race to lv99

D2 ladder was pretty much the more techie types competing on who can program the most efficient bot.

Maybe in later years. It was fun for the first few years before it was infested with bots. I stopped playing before the bots came, I guess. I had the #1 HC druid for the first 5-6 days when LoD was released. Then died to computer taking too long to load Was fun though!

I still remember the days of spending 30s+ to load. This was a 100mhz celeron, had to uninstall EVERYTHING just to install D2/exp because the hard drive had only like 4gb of space total.

I bought a PC with a 6 GB hard drive before college. That was the year D2 was released. I stopped playing online closed ladder probably half a year after LoD was released. It was pretty much bot infested at the time. Afterwards, I only played on LAN with people I know.

So..

overall
+20-23% on 2h
+0-3% dps to Heavenly Strength.


This change is nice, but I can't see it making the 2h weapons competitive. You're still losing a socket when fighting with d/w classes, and fighting with an additional unique effect with source/mojos/quivers.

Blizzard really moves slowly when making changes, and when they do, boy are they underwhelming.

Not gonna bother with the seasonal characters except maybe get a character to paragon 100 which should get me some of the exclusive items/recipes. They exclusives seem underwhelming so far anyway. Gonna stick with my original hardcore character mainly and try to get on to some greater rift records.

2h needs to be able to have the mods that 2x 1hand or 1h + off-hand can have. If that means that 2h will start rolling with 8 mods, with up to two mods of the same kind (including sockets)... well bring it!

Also, while we are modifying two handers... can we make a larger difference in attack speed? I want it to be a huuuge difference between 2h and 1h in terms of attack speed. like have 2h hammers with 0.5 attack speed (also allows for awesome animations!). Then 1h or 2h would completely make or break your build, with resource costs vs per hit effects.

IIRC the 20% weapon damage is worth roughly the same as the 130% crit damage mod while dual wielding. That basically means that some two handers with very good mods will become viable.

FoE for one is going to be sick.

2 handers enjoy the bigger base damage thing so chasing stats parity isn't the way to evaluate them. certain cd based skills are based on damage per swing.
