I got enough gear to very comfortably start doing Adventure on T1 this morning, and I can already foresee myself stopping in less than a week. I like where they're going with some of the legendaries, having kooky and well-synergized affixes (Blade of Prophecy for Crusader is a nice new example) but I think if they want to keep it fun and fresh they need a LOT more like that. The min/maxing is entertaining to a degree, with the new Mystic and re-rolling, but I've done a good dozen rift runs on T1 where I quickly salvaged everything I got and the lack of reward is already getting stale. And I'm sure there are many that are even worse off than me. My sheet stats (Wiz, 500k dmg, 4-5M toughness or something) are not even extraordinary at all and yet T1 is fairly straightforward already. The blood shard gambling is equally boring; it's not much different than crafting, just different materials. And I don't even consider Paragon levels a reward. At all. The only reward in paragon levels is making the first dozen levels of new characters a bit faster...
I've also got a 70 Crusader already which I loved leveling but got incredibly bored of playing Adventure mode with quickly. Obviously there is lots of work to be done there since it's a new class and they'll make tweaks, but still.
I'm playing the shit out of the game because there's at least new stuff to do and I do appreciate not having an AH to worry about. It speeds up runs and takes the mental edge off of having to worry about every drop being worth selling or not. However, like most people are saying, I don't see myself enjoying it much in a week or so.

one thing that imho is really hurting item diversity is the limitation to a max of 4 primary stats. this combined with the possibility of rerolls is just a combinatorial crackdown on the rarity of perfect or even good items.
additionally, a fifth primary slot would allow more items to incorporate resource cost or cooldown reduction, which would open up countless possibilities for new builds and synergies. take rings or gloves for example. sacrificing one out of the potential quadfecta stats for 8% cd reduction is just not worth it. additionally, the secondaries are completely meh. nobody cares about them anyway except maybe OWE monks and wds who might want pickup radius.
oh, and ofc they must fix the shrine gloves asap. not only that fleeting and empowered shrines are bugged with them, but also the effect as a whole is too strong imho.
on the other hand, the expansion has laid an excellent foundation for longevity. it should be easy to add ladders, races, new legends with interesting special effects and new rift map topologies.

There is also the fact that crit(esp crit dmg %) is a broken stat compared to other stuff
Trifecta rules supreme.

True though for some situations +element damage will trump attack speed. CC/CD is the two that's a must for higher torment. Lower Torment 1-3 can be done with fairly low amounts of CC/CD which is a big step up from pre 2.0.

Yeah I agree with that but I can't help to feel skepticism for multiple reasons: -Blizzard is reknown for being slow and I just think not doing it in right now in an expansion is very disapointing. -PvP was promised at first, took like 6months to be released in a bare bones version. Not like I really care for PvP but it's just a bad precedent when it comes to promises.

Enjoying the game for a week or two is enough for me

There's a load of problems with D3 atm that sap away all enthusiasm:
1) Rifts are bad. Monster density is terrible, hence, they are too long and the rewards you get don't feel that much rewarding. 20-30 blood shards is a joke (spent 2k, kept nothing), exp/gold for closing the rift doesnt outshine bounty hunting and the drops from the boss itself are nothing stellar.
2) Legendaries are still far from good. For every legendary with a fun affix there's like 3 without any and 3 other where the affix is pointless.
3) There's no trade. It was obvious right from the beginning but now people actually started realizing that they're not gonna get that arcane SoJ with +30% elite damage. Blizzard made an awesome huge step towards build diversity (half-assed in some regards, but it's miles ahead of vanilla), but failed to realize that builds require specific items and dropping specific items is close to goddamn impossible with so many options. Build diversity and trade are what fueled Diablo 2's endgame and Blizz just reintroduced one of those while dumping the other, so we're essentially in the same spot. Ugh.
4) There's no PvP goddamit.

Kinda set my goal to complete the Firebird set for Wizard, just for novelty. But since RoS launch, I haven't found a single set item (any set item), but a lot of legendaries. Was doing a release LAN with friends and one of them found 2 parts of the Demon Hunter set already.
At least finally got a Chantodo offhand from gambling yesterday, even though the damage roll is pretty bad. Sadly I also noticed you can't even reroll the damage on offhands.
Fully buffed I'm currently sitting on 1.35m DPS with 8m toughness, but still got a few things to work on: http://eu.battle.net/d3/en/profile/PandaCore-1864/hero/4941341 (Seems the character page doesn't display the rerolled attributes yet)
Also I wonder if I'll ever be able to replace my legacy Witching Hour.

4) There's no PvP goddamit. 1. Try going with a group on T1+. Most of the time you can finish one in 7-10 minutes, get a whole lot of loot to pick up, and fairly often you get maps where you just chain pull elites until the guardian spawns and around 50-60 bloodshards, 5-6 death's breaths, a whole lot of gems and random loot. Some of the maps have bad monster density, but other maps have density that makes 1.08 fields of misery look sparse, literally with an elite on every screen with a pack or two.
2. Decent point. I'd argue the bigger problem is that crafted legendaries should have more than 4 random affixes, but that's a different topic.
3. Agreed. They need to find some middleground where they can allow trades(long(er) term friends, like 2-5 weeks?) of unenchanted/untransmog'd gear. I'm fine with enchanted gear being BoA, but raw drops should be tradable to more than just people in your game.

At least let us trade crafting materials/recipes if we are in the game when in drops
Anyway, what ranged classes are looking good to solo Torment I fast? I have a decent barb that has around 400k dps and 6m toughness, but I'd like to roll a ranged character as well (wd, dh or wiz).

Can only speak for Wiz (1.35m DPS) and DH (1m DPS) so far and Torment I seems pretty fast to farm. I seem to have trouble farming with my crusader, even though he has decent DPS (750k). Haven't raised the other classes to 70 yet
I agree that the trading aspect of the game needs a bit of work. You can't even craft items for people that are in your game. Also speaking of crafting, the drop chance for the legendary crafting materials seems a tad to low as well. Not sure if they raised that with the latest legendary drop changes though.

Wizard dps is pretty broken cause of there synergy's so I would say Wizard.

I need help. Not sure if this is the right thread for this but whatever. When I first launched the installer from the cd it only opened the Bnet app and DLed something that is 11gb big. I thought I have to download all the previous patches(stopped playing for months) before being able to install RoS. 3 days later, I still have 9gb to download(3rd world internet), but the game is already in "playable" state, and that's when I realized the app is actually downloading RoS itself. The night after I bought my physical copy of RoS, I immediately claimed the hearthstone pack with it and also entered the RoS authentication key because why not, and only first tried installing it the next day. I guess that's what caused the problem. I searched and saw this. + Show Spoiler +If you insert the Reaper of Souls installation disk into your system, and nothing happens, your Diablo 3 client has most likely already downloaded and installed the files needed to play RoS. If that is the case, all you need to do is apply the authentication key that came with your disk to your Battle.net Account. Doing so should unlock the RoS content and allow you to play. It's not that simple when I'm downloading it at about 50kbs and it's gonna take me at least a week to finish Is there anything I can do to stop the bnet app from trying to download the entire thing and install the game with my installation disk instead?

I was sceptical before RoS came out but pleasently surprised how much fun it is shortly after. However, after "only" 30-40 hours I feel like there is not much going on anymore. Most legs are instantly disenchanted and there is nothing else to develop your character. I expected this to happen but it's disappointing nonetheless. I think, I will take a break and wait for new things to come. Surely, this will be "soon".

didnt take long for the whiners to come out.
i gambled a mirrorball with +2 missiles. created a cold build around that and was playing for less than a day when i found a +arcane SoJ and gambled a +arcane stormcrow. currently creating a build around arcane. still a bunch of exciting items to find and new builds to try.
and, as someone said above, i am still trying to find something worth replacing my legacy witching hour.

The best thing I found to replace a witching hour so far was a pretty good roll Hellcat Waistguard. High int roll + attack speed and dmg to elites on it resulted in only a 4.7% dmg loss or thereabouts, with a 20% toughness gain, so I decided to try it out.

All I can say is that Diablo 3 Vanilla will download RoS even if you don't own it. I'm not exactly sure how someone is supposed to use the disk unless maybe you run it on an unpatched version of D3.
