Doing paragon runs I went from 70-80 finding about 6-8 uniques per run, which I thought was normal. 80-83 and found 3 or less; the levels took longer so I was confused. I noticed my mf had hit over 300 without my noticing, so I moved some stuff around so my base mf was 300 exactly, and now I found 4 uniques in my first two runs.
Does anyone know if there is some penalty calculator if you go over 300? I hate feeling superstitious, and I know it could just be chance, but according to some articles done, 300 % base mf should be roughly 1 unique per 500 enemies ~ so 3 over 10 act 3 runs is definitely way under this : /
It's all RNG bro

can anyone confirm or deny my superstitions? just do runs with over 300 mf and let me know :D

It only superstition, the mind can get to you when you experience a series of bad runs. I actually once thought that having mf on my followers bugs out my magic find and destroys it. RNG can be a bitch,2 weeks ago i played about 15+ hours in a course of a few days with 400+mf, which is about 50+ act 3 runs for me, and didn't get a single leg . You can only imagine what went on my mind during that time.

Just felt like randomly updating... does anyone think the naked kill achievements are doable solo? I just managed to kill Hell Butcher with no gear equipped (except for follower), solo, and I'm thinking if I should try the others also. Belial didn't go well so far, about to try Azmodan now.
(Also yes, I know there are other ways of gaining the achievement, but that defeats the point... doesn't it?)

6-8 uniques per run? Jesus.
By the way, does something happen when you find legendaries now? E.g. blinking on minimap or something? I heard something about it but I picked the uniques up too fast to notice something.

There is a ray of orange light at the legendary as well as a ping on the minimap. The ping does not last forever. And there is a sound effect.

anyone know which area even if its act 1 or 2 can get the highest amount of elites per hour (not XP per hour)?

So my friend found a tal rashas allegiance with 6% lightning dmg 289 Int 239 Vit 9% crit chance 62% Crit dmg ......
On Hardcore :D

6-8 uniques per run? >_> You must have been doing very long runs AND been very lucky!
So congratulations on the good streak of uniques you had going there for a while.
Now welcome back to the drop rates us normal people have.

lol I think I've confused a good number of people... when I said run I meant 6-8 uniques per level. so from 70-71 - 6 uniques, 71-72 - 8 uniques, etc.
well I guess its just RNG after all... i was crazy there for a minute thanks for all the replies!

Check out Vault of the Assassin in act2, should be 8 or more there every time. In the same act, on one of the first WPs (dont remember name atm) there is usually 2-3 in the same small area.

Vault of the Assassin, in Desolate Sands while on either quest after Blood and Sand, gives you a checkpoint inside so you will always start there. Clear clockwise, check every offshoot and it will net you 6-8 elites and 0-2 goblins per run. MP1 or higher, of course. I like to pull multiple packs together in there since the density is so high. Bonus is that if you decide to shake it up a little and visit other areas for more champions and rares in other zones, or to tap the keywarden, you still always start your next run back in VoA as long as you don't enter Cave of the Betrayer or head up to the Archives/beyond If you want to spend longer at 5 stacks then the Alk method seems to be adequate enough given the optimized uptime of combat. Hope that helps.

Black Canyon mines has 1-4 elites (1 and 4 are both very infrequent) and a few locations goblins can spawn.
Then Sewers, Ruin Cistern are both very small and tend to have 2 elites - 1 if you're unlucky - and both have goblin spawns as well.
It's a real nice way to load up on NV before you clear out VotA.
But given the discussion earlier about how the bonus rare is more likely than not a junk rare (4-affix); maybe high MF is all you really need, so just clear VotA to keep up the elite / minute ratio (this is doubly true if you don't care about XP, which is a big reason to load up NV before clearing dense areas).
