So I`ve already stopped playing this game and will never play it again. Guess I should just put a bot on and maybe recoup my investment through gold farming? Getting banned from playing this snorefest is fiiiiine by me.

link talks about what Blizzard does to botters and how banning botters in waves is profitable for Blizzard: http://daeity.blogspot.com/2010/08/blizzard-loves-botters.html

so Blizzard bans accounts and not IP addresses or MAC addresses (which can still be get around but the more annoying to get around the better)

I've basically stopped playing D3 because the only thing to do is farm and honestly imo the best farming method right now is gold farming because item values keep dropping unless you hit the jackpot and find an amazing statted item. so if the best farm method is gold farming, then I'm competing against bots which farm far better and I don't want to play like a human gold farming bot so I quit.

I honestly thought that the RMAH would make Blizzard be much more responsive to botting, but their anti-bot measures are no where close to adequate.

Have you ever played an online game in the past ten years without bots? They exist because they're impossible to stop, not because companies are lazy about doing things about them.

They exist because the ban-wave strategy is bad.

Just some random numbers:
The first Diablo banwave was ~3 weeks after the game was released. With pot bashing bots could easily do 500k/hour.
Let's say the bot needed 7 days to level to 60
Still 24*14 = 336 hours of botting. So 168 million of gold.
Is selling those 168million worth a 60$ account? Yes.

And if you use the same (public) bot again on your next account - it will only be banned when the next banwave is happening. So again enough time to make a profit.
There's 0 financial risk involved when botting, since the account is save until the next banwave.

So you're suggesting blizzard has a team of ninjas that 1984 people playing games to make sure they don't bot or something? If somebody figured out a feasible way to deal with bots in the past ten years you wouldn't see every online game in the entire world infested with bots. There isn't some conspiracy where blizzard is allowing bots to exist because they make profit off them.

I suggest that if they flag an account for banning they just ban the account immediately and not when the next banwave happens.
I also only commented that there ban-wave strategy is bad - I dont know why you suddenly have the need to mention conspiracy theories about Blizz's profit.

No, you shouldn't. Botting isn't cool, you know?

Because the article that was originally posted that I was replying to is a conspiracy theory.

I don't think ban waves are an effective means either, but there isn't a better option out there.

Botting is just dragging up more gold which is fine because economy is relativistic. Adding more gold to the economy causes the dollar per gold to drop but who cares because itll get easier to acquire said gold as well.

So botting is not really hurting the game though there are some pretty good act 1 bots I think. Which is a real problem.

has anyone noticed that act 3 drops are bad again after tuesday's maintenance?

I've seen a decline in the amount of level 63's in act 3, but I've only done a handful of runs since yesterday morning so it isn't statistically significant.

However it finally seems like Act 2 is dropping like they advertised. After they "buffed" the ilvl63 drop rate to 8% in act 2, I got 4.1% lvl63 in my next 500 rares in Act 2. That is a pretty large sample size. But over the last 10 runs or so I have gotten an appropriate amount.

Over the last week I will say that I have seen notable decline in the % of lvl 63 weapons vs armor. It used to be comparable, now I get about 4 Archon pieces or other lvl63 armor for every 63 weapon. I track my drops meticulously in a spreadsheet, so I am pretty sure there was an adjustment made. Anyone else notice this?

Wow you actually bother to track your drops with such detail.... I just farm away and go "fuck, crude archon armor again".

wouldn't that imply that gold AH will inflate drastically due to low value of gold?

I noticed a huge decrease in act II, something like -40% lv62-63 items. I mean, it could be bad luck but in the last 10 hours of play (20+ elites per hour, plus goblins/chests) I found a dozen of barely sellable items.

I just tracked an act 2 run to see how I'm doing (didn't bother recording item lvls however) I was able to swap to 307 MF successfully on 27 packs, belial, and kulle. For the other kills I was at 75% mf (from valor)

2.5 hours exactly
37 packs killed
1 belial killed
1 kulle killed
3 goblins killed
4 resplendant chests found
88 rares obtained.

2 items that i'll try and sell on the ah, but I don't expect more than a million per. The rest was garbage. =(

People kinda forget that even if theres the same amount of drops as before, its just harder to get stuff worth something because the market is getting flooded with "ok"ish items. Soon after release I could still sell blues with high rolled mainstat+average vit roll for a few 100k's. That just wont happen now. Even the old descent rares are becoming so common its almost pointless to sell.

I noticed that when I reached 60 on my 2nd char too. I was very surprised how good items I could get for it even though I only spent 100-200k on each slot mostly. Adding a weapon for 500k-1M, that stuff carried me easily into Act3 Inferno. Theres so much average stuff out there so you need really good stuff to sell for lots of gold.

I mentioned the hundreds of rares to state what my sample size was. What I meant was, the % of ilvl 63's was in line with what I was getting before. I probably got a stash tab full of stuff worth selling.

Its random how good the items turn out. The game doenst recognise you put alot of effort into your day and rewards you with a nice ilvl63 ring with perfect stats. IF that was how it went, I wouldnt be playing anymore. People need to stop complaining about something random.

Its random, get over it.
