ye i was having this discussion with a friend last night, he said "no one will sell good items for gold anymore". but i really think those items that are gonna be up for 250mil+ will be sold for gold and then either sell the gold or buy up 3-4 items in the 50 mil range and sell them for £100 each, bypassing the cap impossed by blizzard.

I'm not so sure this is that obvious. Only a very small number of the population has 1000mil+ gold to be able to buy items frequently like this. Botters of course, but I'd imagine they'd just want to sell the gold they farm up and not spend it on items. I wouldn't be surprised if only 10% of the 6 million people who bought this game are currently in Inferno, of that population maybe only 1% has 1000 mil+ gold. I have a mere 30 million gold, so perhaps it's just that I am poor.
Even if you were buying items for 250mil, what would you do with it? You obviously don't want to sell it on the RMAH, so the only recourse is to use it, or to keep in your stash where its value will deprecate. Doesn't seem sound like a sound thing to do.

Wait what the fuck, I thought Nether Tentacles already only hit each mob once like every other skill did anyways.
Oh you silly DHs.

Oh you silly DHs. it was only on super large mobs / bosses Or when Missile Dampening is involved. It hit belial and azmodan 4x, bosses the size of siegebreaker 3x and mobs in general 2x, except for very very small mobs like fallens and flowers in pony level. So its a dps reduce by 50-75%. Now people might go back to lightning balls instead, but truth is, lightning balls already do 50% the dps of nt anyway, so it will still be a question if you want to have very slightly higher dps or lifeleech.

I know Ball lightning hits multiple times for less damage, but does each hit it does proc Life on Hit? I know it does for crit,

If it splits the damage it probably splits the life on hit too like spinters rune for poison dart.

Nether does 50% LOH/hit, Ball Lightning does 25% LOH/hit.

elite hunting is the most unsatisfying, mind numbing and boring thing in the game and now that it is 100% the focal point of the game, it's shit. Blizzard is so short sighted it makes me sick. It's like they forget everything that made d2 a game that withstood 10 years of gameplay to do the exact opposite because it's supposed to be better. Well, it's not better and the longevity of this game will be but a fraction of d2 unless they make some major changes.

Contrary to popular beliefs, dying is supposed to be a bad thing.
