I'm on the east coast too, and I randomly disconnected a few times in the past 24 hours (barring the servers being officially down for short periods of time), but I'm sure things will smooth out within a day or two. As far as lag goes, reducing the resolution of your game and adjusting other settings (through in-game pause and then in one of the tabs... options or gameplay or something) made the game run sooo much smoother for me.

I'm gonna be honest. If you die 100+ times to a boss, you're probably just really bad at the video game.

(Act 2 boss)
I was in a party of four, and right as we were about to+ Show Spoiler + "kill" his first form (we didn't know he had a second form), one of my friends said "This guy's so fucking easy. I thought the bosses were supposed to be har-" He stopped midsentence because the whole level exploded and poison flew everywhere. It was fucking awesome. Still didn't find the second form insanely difficult with our party of four, but we were a lot more frantic. Reminded us of Duriel (Diablo 2's Act 2 boss). My brother was soloing D3 at the time, and it took him like ten tries to finish off this Act 2 boss because there were no distractors I don't think he had a hireling at the time, which was a mistake. He kept getting him down to like 1/10 health in the second form, which was really frustrating.

I wasn't too happy when Blizzard said that Inferno could be beaten solo. And it seems you don't even need the very top gear to beat this mode either.
In my personal opinion, I thought it would be great to have a mode that isn't exactly simple to beat. By that I mean a mode that isn't meant to be beaten by casual. One that even those with the best gear would struggle with. One that only a small fraction would be able to beat. I haven't reached Inferno yet, but it sounds like D2 Hell... Maybe it's just me...

If i don't die 100+ times a boss, its not an achievment, its just mashing keyboard. 1. Get pwned 2. Think about what you could do differently, test things 3. After you figure out a few things that work against the things the boss does, polish them and keep the execution up and you'll defeat him. Even in a very difficult game, if it's well designed, it should take perhaps 5 tries. If you die far more than that it means that the game is luck-based which is very poor design. Pretty bolds statement there. For instance, in Diablo 2 his ring of fire thing was unavoidable unless you stood out of line of sight, which if you were melee for instance was impossible. Now lets say that ability exists in Inferno and it oneshots you since you havent farmed any gear. Is that poor game design or you trying to brute force your way through an encounter you aren't geared for? The reason you would die 100 times to a boss is simply because you will eventually get hit by something while not having the gear to withstand it - and you die. And 5 tries to beat a boss for a well designed game? Not to sound like an old turd but, that's a very "gaming 2.0" type of statement. Dying over and over because something is hard isn't bad game design or luck based. I have died 200 times to certain raid bosses in WoW. Then there's games like Dark Souls who's motto is "Prepare to die" as long as you know WHY you died and feel like you can improve upon it, that the death was your fault and not the game cheating you, it is a good fight. And thats good game design. You can't compare dark souls and D3, one is a game where your actual skill with the controller etc is the only thing which matters, the other is an RPG where your gear and build make up 95% of it. You're not going to die 200 times to a boss in D3 because you're not dodging well enough, you're going to die 200 times because your gear is shit and you simply can't beat it, or you're unlucky and the boss crits you a lot or something. The way in which difficulty is established is completely different in an action game like Dark Souls and an RPG like D3, even if D3 is an action RPG. '
Most projectiles in Diablo 3 are avoidable, especially for ranged classes. So i dont fully agree with the statement you make. I was merely responding to his general argument that he should die max 5 times toa boss in any given game or its "bad game design" and brought up Dark Souls as an example.

Stupid question, I figured I should just ask it here. Where do I see how much damage I'm dealing with Wizard's spells?

If I add a gem to a socket, will I ever be able to swap it out for a better gem?

If you pause the game and go to one of the gameplay options, you can check the box that reveals how much damage each attack of yours does. A number will pop up with each hit/ spell of yours, and that's how much damage you deal. Does that answer your question?

Yes, in act two, you will complete a quest which gets you a Jeweler (an artisan in town) that can craft certain items and can remove gems from socketed items. That item will still have the empty sockets and you'll get to keep the original gem too. The action of removing the gem gives you the separated item and gem all brand new So socket away!

Yes...the jewelcrafter artisan can remove gems from items and you get back both the item and the gem moderating a small fee.

Yeah, but I wanted to know if there is a way to see it in the Inventory or skill tree, something like that. I tried opening the Details tab in the inventory but couldn't find it there.
Thanks for replying, though

In your inventory menu, there is a section that says "Character Damage" or something, which is your DPS taking all gear into account.

Sure, no problem I was actually trying to figure out the same question as you earlier- how to find out spell damage (except with my barbarian) without actually needing to attack someone. The base damage of my weapon/ character is all I can seem to find (unless I attack), as opposed to things like whirlwind damage or earthquake damage, as the spells only have descriptions. I have no idea why they just didn't do the same thing they did in D2- just list the spell's damage by each spell.

Another stupid question, but in elective mode, is there any way to bind skills to different buttons?
Like if I have my 4 slots with skills, then my 2 mouse buttons, is there any way to cast anything else?
Ie. Have my spells/etc then cast magic weapon buff without going through the skill selection/binding screen?
I guess not eh?
