Vitality is for pussies. What I really hated was having to check all the items to see their requirements and bonuses to get optimum build for target items. This kinds of games were much more fun before the Internet And bringing back stat caps from D1 could be a good idea too. I really liked it how Sorcerer couldn't get past 40 Strength etc.
Vitality is what you put points into. Sometimes bowazons p1.09 or certain barbs would put stats in dex or strength for bonus damage, and very rare energy shield sorcs use energy (as a source of vitality due to energy shield anyways). Strength/Dex/Vitality/Energy had no impact on your caster strength.
iCanada, even the PvE scene and trading scene was amazing in HC. Leveling up with 7 other people in Arcane sanc or bloody hills was always fun, the best pvp I've ever played in a game, since how loot drops extremely, extremely rarely, but could be traded so easily. Wow sucked ass because of dragon points, how only certain bosses would drop gear, they always dropped awesome gear, but not every class could use it, it couldn't be sold but has to be used, binding, and you needed 40+ people to kill bosses anyways. Wow loot system was so fucking stupid, but diablo had the best loot system ever.
D2 patch 1.13+ had an ability to respec your characters. Generally people put everything in vitality, and sometimes enough dex to max out. Rarely you'd need to add points to strength or dex anyways due to gear and charms giving + to stats, at least for casters. If you were anti-melee, you may add dex for block.

They specified that you can't cashout from your e-balance ( the virtual currency you bought or gained via the RMAH ) you could just "cashout" the sum of RM value of an item you sell in the RMAH minus the fee to blizzard + the fee to the outside money manager let's call it that way.
Once you have "real money" on your e-balance you can't get it back unless you buy something with it at the AH and happen to resell it with your "auto-cashout on sell" option completed. So you'll pay fees after fees after...

Well thats just like when you call a broker to make a trade on the stock exchange.

Uhh.. before the expansion energy was the MAIN STAT to both sorcs and necros, due to serious mana cost of spells. And melee/ranged guys gained SERIOUS damage bonuses from str/dex due to far lower total ED amount, hence all stats being relevant. Remember, D2 had excellent balance before the expansion, it was the rebalance and new gimmick additions that messed up the stat, skill and item balance, in addition to terrible end game content of baal runs instead of deep and interactive CS and river runs of pre expansion.

Why do people just make stuff up =(
This is false, in the current Beta build you can switch skills whenever you please. No need to go back to town or do anything fancy.

Being part of the press group I will be in the Beta day 1. So until you see "Beta Announced!" video from me, people are just making things up.

I'm excited to theoretically spend $150 for a DIII Stone of Jordan! And then forgot about it and play Chrono Trigger on an emulator. And come back to see the price has dropped $100...

This is all getting a smidge asinine. If you aren't one of those e-peen strokers that HAS to have this or that item, then don't worry about the thought of spending real currency on items.
No one is making you spend your money, and if you think it's silly that some people do, then just relish in the thought that you got your items by finding them.
This whole concept is akin to complaining that there are people who buy bananas in a store because you think that hardcore banana eaters find their bananas.

I find it hard to believe that many people would consider this a very fair comparison.

I think the ability to make real money out of this game is going to encourage autoing like no other game has before...

blizzard realized they really couldn't stop gold farming gold selling from WoW. why not allow real money in-game auction and make money themselves? smart business move and users no longer have to be afraid of getting banned for trying to sell loots.
|
The thing is there won't even be that much money in the system to start, so people are going to tend to use the gold auction house at first, instead of chasing the small amount of money by selling crap items. I mean, who is going to pay real money for an item they are just going to outgrow probably well before they hit the level cap? Sure you can invest a little and then resell it when you don't have a use for it, or save it for another character, but largely no one is going to be spending money until largely most stuff is figured out as best in slot or high level runes. Yes, I realize some people will try and be successful, because some people will buy most anything.
I really don't think things are going to be super expensive either. With the huge player base there is going to be tons of items in circulation, which means tons of people undercutting each. Then factor in the shared stash (which is supposed to be huge), and you almost never throw anything away that is viable at some point in any other characters development (well I forgot about crafting/disassembling stuff, but generally that applies).
|
It might be a little extreme but it's very fair. As an old "banana grower", I look forward to buying an item that costs 9 dollars but will probably take me 5 hours to find. I also fail to see how me buying items for real money would affect anyone else's enjoyment of the game. I'm not a highschooler anymore and no longer have time to spend ~500 hours on D3 like I did on D2. I, for one, am glad Blizzard is offering a safe and legitimate alternative to the grind.
The RMAH should've been implemented a long time ago. Imagine a duper putting up 100 D3 "SoJ"s up in the AH. He'll surely be caught and have his funds frozen. The same is true for botters/other hackers who constantly run into the fear of having his account caught. The black market will be crippled and scamming will be reduced drastically. Every upcoming MMO should have some version of a RMAH within 2 years. Kudos to Blizzard for leading the charge once again.
