What? Anyway does anyone know if they talked about levels being more significant or slower rather than everyone being 90+? I know they said you beat hell difficulty at about lvl 60. They didnt say if lvl 60 was the "max" or what. My source is either blizzcon 2010 or gamescon 2010...not sure which. He said they want to have more fun ways for "end game" instead of leveling up for days like gearing up better, runes in skills, and talisman. Stuff like that. Rather than levels that take forever. Maybe theyre making it easy to get to lvl 60 (assuming we figure out how to rush people) then what takes forever is the artisans, and having the cash to pay for all the runes, talisman charms, gems (assuming theyre all tradable)
I normally don't compare diablo 3 to wow because rpg elements get recycled regardless of whether its from the same company or not, but they better not make lvl 60 the max (first WoW max level).

They said it was 60 a while ago. + Show Spoiler +We've been working with a level cap that's quite a bit different. It was something I had alluded to a while back but I think it's probably worth discussing sooner rather than later.
So, we're working with a lower level cap for a myriad of reasons but really the main point that they're more or less all linked to is that we came to the conclusion that a cap of 99 exists for the sake of itself. Meaning that it's a really high number despite all sorts of good things like meaningful player/skill/power pacing, item distribution, balance, etc. It's sort of this long term goal that really didn't matter, almost an Achievement without the flashy graphics or *bwong* sound. You didn't need to reach 99 to do anything, in almost all ways the game stopped somewhere in the 80's (for a lot of people a lot lower), but by stretching the player out over an additional 20 or so levels to 99 it created all sorts of issues we were having problems justifying forcing the game in to. So we're working with a level cap of 60 at the moment.
This is the point where some of you scream "60!? That's like original World of Warcraft!" And then the rest of you /facepalm and say "60!? Couldn't you pick any other number? Now everyone is going to compare it to World of Warcraft!"
The 60 level cap we're working with came from a lot of time and thinking about our content and how we want the experience to feel at every level. It so happens that it works for us really well.
Of course it all comes down to an XP curve. We could, for instance, say the level cap in Diablo III is 60 and then pace that curve and gain out over what we estimate it took someone to reach 99 in Diablo II. Of course we wouldn't do that but it should help illustrate that the time from 1-60 in Diablo II does not equal the amount of time it will take to reach 60 in Diablo III. 60 levels versus 99 levels doesn't mean less content or less powerful characters, etc. These aren't uniform levels of power that move from game to game. And in fact we are pushing a longer game than Diablo II and I'd argue our characters feel way more powerful. Ok, that out of the way, moving on!
The leveling experience is always going to stop somewhere because the real game is the item hunt. So, instead of letting it drag out to a less meaningful 80 or so levels like most people saw in Diablo II we have 60 levels of awesome; at every level you'll get a meaningful and noticeable increase in power. It has a ton of other benefits and fixes a lot of problems a higher cap causes, but I'll take pause. http://forums.battle.net/thread.html?topicId=26560838583&postId=268477121354&sid=3000#11

All you people whining how D2 had no atmosphere and was boring, maphacked, duped, botted, power-leveled, etc. I played through all the difficulties in single-player(actually multi-player, but I had terrid internet for the longest time and just played a multiplayer character solo), and it was hard as crap without excessive farming. There were many legit points of fear and nervousness. Hitting the boss guys in the jungle temple(or whatever the heck that was, it was a long time ago, lol) as a Barb in Nightmare was a nightmare, and it took me a couple hours to kill them. Of course this was also without following set build orders and extensive research on creating a finely tuned click spam bore-fest of one-shot kills that many builds give you in the later levels. (hammerdin lulz?) Play legit, and the game is amazingly fun. Weird concept, I know, but whatever. I was SOOOOO turned off when I finally started playing multiplayer, and finding out that what i considered elite "rare" equipment, equipment i spent hours farming for, was basically worthless trash in multiplayer because everyone had the best of the best....and they got it by cheating/hacking/general gayness.

lol this thread made me get a cd key. instead of spending $40 on the blizzard store you can find cd-key sellers and pick up D2 + LoD for $9.
from what i hear the ladder recently reset. im soloing in multiplayer and just rescued Deckard Cain =D

I just finished D2 + LoD recently, it brought back so many memories of those sleepless nights as a kid ... "Just one more waypoint ... " If D3 has even half the addict factor of D1 or D2 then I'm going to run to get it on release day faster than an Etheopian with a McDonald's voucher.
... Come to think of it has Blizzard ever made an NON-addictive game? Don't think so.

My thoughts exactly. Although, there is a part of me that wants there to be a floor above the average playthrough cap.

I personally forgot my account, but i had a good 5-6k stashed on there for this ladder, but i totally forgot about it.
I'ma just sell everything at the start of D3 for a ridiculous amount on a new account, and be right back up there.

Some of those sites were legit. Back in the college days, my roomates and I brought tons of D2/WC3/FT cd keys from g2buy.com... but it seems like the site only sells D2 items now.
if you do buy a cdkey, register it on your battle.net account asap to see if it's legit and you'll want to save the cd-key to your account anyhow. it was always a pain for me to dig around my room for 30 minutes in order to find my WC3 cd-key case only to find that the cd was in another case.

I agree. I find the most fun way to play Diablo 2 is playing hardcore with friends starting from scratch. It is about as thrilling as it gets.

I really hate the dual crossbow idea, i will 100% use a single crossbow. But i'd always choose a Bow over a Crossbow. I hope Blizzard adds Bows cause otherwise D3 will be the first ever game where you have both swords and magic but not bows >_<
I wish i still had my old D2 accounts left so i could sell all my items for FG (keep for D3 release), but both my D2 and SC:BW account got banned. :/

They showed a cracked bow or something being dropped by a mob in their gameplay trailer, so I'm sure that you can probably use bows as one of the variants for demon hunter.
