It makes me worry a little bit about Diablo.
Admittedly I cringed a bit and found the trailer rather cheesy; stated this before, seeing the actual gameplay changed my perception of the class for the better, it really looked like fun to me.
In the end, I think they will manage to deliver a game that holds enough for everyone to enjoy it to some degree. While it is still Diablo at the core, it will be vastly different in comparison to D1+2. Some features are improvements, others feel like they could water down the experience. It's hard to please everyone and expectations are a bit through the roof due to the Diablo legacy
There was actually a question in the Q&A session that was specifically addressed towards the whole "Hero should feel threatened rather than god-like" issue you guys are talking about.
Blizzard's response was essentially "We still plan for the game to kick your ass, and part of the reason why we changed the health orb, town portal, and potion systems was to make the monsters more challenging since in D2 all you had to do was potion spam and never worry about dying."
I think it was in the Crafting Sanctuary Q&A portion, and it does give the idea that Blizzard knows what they're doing. I never understood the constant WoW comparisons to be honest.

Potions are on a cooldown, won't be nearly as bad as D2 I don't think. Just depends on the cooldown. I'm hoping the cooldown is about 1 minute or more.

I was really hoping to finally get the proper male ranger-like character. My hopes are being crushed with every new class they reveal
There will be a male Demon Hunter, which is effectively a ranger in mechanics, if not in tone.

I was under the impression the potions have been removed so the health orbs are the only way to regen health. Is this no longer true?

Actually i could also deal with going up... But i want a friggin dungeon crawl.. Not a walk in the Park with some interruptions.
Yea I really hope they make some long ass dungeons. But I'm hoping the game really damn long in general. But I guess it would be hard to make a single dungeon that goes on for a while. The Catacombs in D2 were one of my favorite places, the thing goes down like 8 levels from the start. The problem with D2 though is you could sprint through everything, and D1 just moved too slow for my liking. Thats why I like the look of D3 so far, it goes at a good pace.
Potions are back? Wtf. Potions inherently ruin a game like D3...
Potions are back, but not like D2. You carry around like 3 and their on a cooldown, so their more for tactical use than spamming.
Personally in all the time i played D2, nothing scared me more on my fury druid than chaos sanctuary. Running people through hell in that place boom IM mid fury swing and i instantly die. No amount of potions saves you from that =/.

The cooldown is at least a minute or two, possibly more. I wasn't really watching it closely when I played, and I used the potion maybe twice. It's basically enough to buy you a second or two if you open a door and your friendly neighborhood beatdown is right there waiting for you, to save you if you accidentally vault/dash into something bad or to prepare for the next fight if you had crap luck on orbs and got hurt.
I REALLY like the new cooldown idea on potions and the demon hunter class looks siiiick. Definitely will pick her first as of now when the game comes out.
D2 was one of the only games I could actually enjoy playing then my "casual" gamer friends. As it was simple enough for everyone to pickup, and playing through it with swarms of units coming at you was really fun.
Also trying kill Duriel with /players 8 with only 2/3 people made for some epic lolz. Many good times Can't wait to enjoy D3.

The first Diablo didn't have you looking or feeling like a demi-god.
I think Diablo 3 is setting up a presentation of the player's character really not having anything to fear.
Basically this. How many people still remember playing D1 for the first time and thinking "Butcher? this guy don't sound so bad" and then "OH GOD MY HEALTH" and then you learn to move slowly and engage only on your own terms (ESPECIALLY if you were playing the warrior).
D2 on the other hand you mostly just spammed click moving forward while annihilating every enemy that ever entered the screen, which is fine, that was fun as hell, but move too far in that direction and you end up with basically Torchlight. It's a mostly atmospheric complaint, but still valid.
opposite for me. in D1 all i had to do was make the butcher get stuck behind bars or a staircase and plink into him until he finally fell. did things like this until i got powerful enough for the OP end-game spell and 1 shot everything on the screen.
in D2 a huge number of random things would ruin your day. those stupid little midgets in act 3. corpse exploding uniques. iron maiden cursed mobs. i TP'd for my life countless times in D2.
try turning off your maphack and stop getting power levelled and experience the real game.
Before Blizzcon 2010 I was really skeptical about D3, but after listening to the developers again stating these things i'm not really concerned anymore
No town portals; abused during difficulty or bosses. Compensate with more WPs.
No health potions; taking up unnessesary space and leads to careless playstyle.
Huge account shared stash; obvious improvement
Artisans crafting for you and lvling up: Really awesome
Jay Wilson reassuring difficult monsters and a feeling of being fragile in the end product.
Added customization with tons more armors/weapons and dyes on top of that.
Improved storytelling with less looking at a scrolling text box and more voiceovers from books that won't really hinder your monster ownage
I'm sure i'm missing like 10 improvements..but w/e.

People keep whining about D2 being easy but seriously, it has gotten much harder since 1.10. Try solo-ing the game without twinking items and without milking mephisto for stuff for 30 hours. While it isn't hard it ain't easy either. I'd be willing to bet decent money that majority of bnet population couldn't do that because they're so used to their duped items that would take 5 lifetimes to obtain legimately.
I went back and played D2 after 1.10 on HC ladder, and i can attest that the difficulty did become more scalable. I mean you could get to baal in normal and baal run to 45, go to nm, breeze through to ancients with no trouble at all, baal to 70, and run through hell fairly easily. Once 1.10 came out if you ran the game with just a few friends and nobody running you through over leveled/giving you insane gear, the game was harder. You had to play a little more carefully instead of spamming teleport -> blizzard and clearing the entire screen.

Oh yeah for sure... just i am definitely not going to use dual crossbows. I think it looks stupid.

I don't mind it at all since i had a few friends who ran throwing barbs. Besides, they are smaller crossbows, so im presuming them to be more like throwing weapons rather than some amazon dualing buriza's.

I agree with you there. I prefer bows over crossbows anyday

They failed sc2? What?
Anyway does anyone know if they talked about levels being more significant or slower rather than everyone being 90+?
I know they said you beat hell difficulty at about lvl 60. They didnt say if lvl 60 was the "max" or what. My source is either blizzcon 2010 or gamescon 2010...not sure which.
He said they want to have more fun ways for "end game" instead of leveling up for days like gearing up better, runes in skills, and talisman. Stuff like that. Rather than levels that take forever.
Maybe theyre making it easy to get to lvl 60 (assuming we figure out how to rush people) then what takes forever is the artisans, and having the cash to pay for all the runes, talisman charms, gems (assuming theyre all tradable)
