I was on shoddy about a year ago, my CRE was around 1500 or so.

I'm getting back into it now, recently, actually. My name on the smogon server is Wickerbasket.

I don't play, but I recently got into watching commented matches online. I usually follow TheKillerNacho (he stopped though =/ ), MTGXerxes, FrostyPixie, BlameTruth, etc. I'm starting to pick up on the metagame as in moves, abilities, and items. It's pretty interesting.

The metagame has changed a lot with regards to tier lists, which have been pretty stupid at times. I use to play as Upmagic on Shoddy, Clefable was my favorite tanker no matter what.

Damn I used to play on Netbattle all the time and was pretty damn good, but I haven't kept up with any of the Diamond/Pearl additions so I just stopped playing once that came out.

I've looked into this before as well as breeding. I was overwhelmed by the complexity of everything and put my pokemon away.

I've been playing the battle factory ever since I beat platinum since my team was overpowered to the point it just got boring, and I didn't want to raise my pokemon to level 100 but I liked the random stragety element (even though the battlehead cheats) and it was way more interesting but I've been looking into competitive pokebattling from blametruth and now I think it is something I might want to do

I think Pokemon Online is the better simulator right now. My IGN is Stork and I usually play on the main server. I'll post my team in a minute, it's ok but I'm not really getting anywhere with it. I have a big fire weakness I need to address.

Celebi is a great option for getting rid of bulky waters (I run Grass Knot, Recover, Toxic, and Perish Song). Another plus to Celebi is that it almost 100% lures out both Heatran and Scizor. Heatran is often choiced, which allows you to switch to your Salamence (isn't Salamence banned now?) and get a free Dragon Dance, while you can take down Scizor with Magnezone trap.

EDIT: or try running Grass Knot on your Starmie, Psychic really only nets you coverage on Gengar and Machamp, neither of which your team is especially weak to

double EDIT: go put technician on your scizor right now, and natural cure on your starmie

He's not using shoddybattle so by extension I don't think he's playing on Smogon servers.

Personally I don't think I'm all that qualified to comment on the team because I really haven't been keeping up with what a metagame with Salamence is like.

Salamence is uber now, so he's banned from OU.
Or at least this is the case on Shoddy, I'm not sure how it is on Pokemon Online (for example on PO Wynaut isn't banned from OU while it is on Shoddy)

The team works wonders

Smeargle - lead, can usually take out at least one other pokemon (plus more if the opponent doesn't catch on) as well as sleep one and set up stealth rock

Steelix - physical wall, comes in handy lategame when there might be nothing to properly deal with him

Gengar - he is my super fast special attacker/card-up-sleeve, deals with difficult pokemon such as stallers with trick and explosion

Dragonite - special wall/toxic staller/cleric, very easy to switch into and very tough, just have to look out for ice attacks

Starmie - special sweeper, especially helpful against gyrados and dragons.

Infernape - mixed sweeper/revenge killer, I used to have a scizor here but I had nothing to deal with heatran plus infernape generally outperforms him. Works well with smeargle to finnish off pokemon and to scout with u-turn.

I used to play it on shoddybattle quite a bit on the smogon server back in Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald. I tried to get back into it during Diamond/Pearl but really never found the time or the interests to keep up.

I used be an avid smogoner and wifi/shoddy battler back in the day. Since I formatted my computer, I didn't bother to save my shoddy team, so if I go back to play I will have to remake a team. My username on shoddy's smogon server was Nate though. Was about 1400ish.
