for the person who was asking about xin, i find that all you need is ghostblade in order to deal relevant dmg up until quite late game, i usually open double hog's into gb and from there choose from a plethora of tank items (obviously get randuins at some point). Banshee's veil, thornmail, force of nature, sunfires all adequate choices depending on enemy lineup. If im absolutely dominating, i skip a hog and get a manamune after you get either frozen heart or banshees (obv depending on enemy lineup).
i have a full atkspeed runepage for xin. flame me as you will, but ive compared both my atkspeed page and my armor pen marks/quints page and i just like how it feels better (also helps hit the 3 q hits before gb) and your atkspeed is relevant enough to regularly land q's even if you end up not getting gb (which i have done when im doing poorly)
@ 5hit my old jungle xin consisted of golem->wolves->wraiths->tiny golems->liz->gank iirc, starting with clothx5 and starting with q and w and leveling e right before you want to gank. I honestly dont remember my gank timings or what runes i did, so ill try some practice games with it and get back to you at some point. I honestly dont really recommend jungling xin if you can avoid it, since hes such a strong lane presence and he honestly does feel slow esp compared to jungle heroes like ww, udyr and olaf.
Ok, i actually had a chance to try out jungle xin again earlier than i expected. I still used my full atkspeed runepage, and 1/14/15 masteries and decided the speed was adequate, and i could do a pretty quick gank after blue->wolves->wraiths->red saving smite for the buff creatures. Started clothx5, you can kinda-sorta get away with clothx2 + ward, but you have to b after red, and gank after that.

I'm thinking of transitioning into Malzahar (his farm power is awesome <3), does anyone have any suggestions for item builds? So far I've been going Rylai -> RoA/Zhon -> Void, but it seems horribly inefficient.

So i play 2 practice against bots to learn jungle panth. Go to test in real game.
8 fucking dodges later, end up with jungle amumu on my team.
FUCK MATCH MAKING!!!
Only get like 2hrs a night to play arghh

The really really effective Malzahar's I've seen just stack AP forever and ever and just abuse the 700 range ult that has amazingly good scaling to gib someone at lvl 6.
Personally I'd go double ring boots into a rushed zhonyas or if you're playing against someone really squishy you can get soulstealer instead.
The reality of malzahar is the faster he kills someone the higher chance he has of making it out alive and as a result kill someone else.
Most team fights you're just going to be trading 1 for 1 unless your team is really good at protecting you or you kill someone so fast they cant respond.
Atleast that's what I've seen.

I just played a game with xin going 21/9/0 build with Mercs > BR > Starks > STOD> LW > GA. Even though I was running around only ~2.4k hp after triple pot buffs, I able to drop all their dpses down to half their lives with R and just right clicking on them for auto win. Xin's R basically makes him an insta tank for the few seconds that he has with the + armor/+ m res buff.

I've actually found that it's better of Mal can stay alive, or at least soak up damage, because I always feel like primary target in teamfights It's actually a battle to even fire my ult for its full duration (and not because of interrupts!) even with all my survivability stacking, is what I've found. I'm actually pondering the effectiveness of Rylai though, as while it makes W and E nice for snaring people down I feel like RoA might just be the better investment early and then going for Zhon -> Void = yay.
I wouldn't ever get SS on him because he dies so much.
Hmm, hmm, with his farming speed I don't find getting the second item Zhon to be very difficult. Can you ZR while his ult is firing, like Morg?

I run the same masteries and spells, I use Flat HP quints, magic pen reds, Flat armor yellows, and Scaling MR blues (I like to play shield heroes and it helps make you a little more tanky) i only play him if i can get solo lane and farm mid with E/W combo, maxing E then Q then W. usually go doran ring + hp pot catalyst merc treads haunting guise Rylai's catalyst ---> banshee veil Zhonya's the great thing about malzahar is that you can completely nullify one person on their team without putting yourself in danger at all as long as you know when and who to ult

Ooh, Banshee over RoA is interesting. For some reason that did not cross my mind at all. :D

What are people's thoughts on Leviathan? I've seen quite a few people who think its a crap item and never worth getting. However, I feel certain champions should get an excellent benefit from it.
Amumu gets a boat load of assists and I don't think it would be a horrible item on him once the teamfights start. If he hits 20 stacks, he will be (probably literally) unkillable.
Brolaf can translate that extra health into damage, not as much as SotO but it gives him survivability as well.
Vladimir's passive works well with this and I see many vlads get Mejai's but would leviathan be a better choice because it makes you tougher to kill and you don't sacrifice that much AP for it.
At max stacks: Leviathan: 820 health, 32.8 AP, 15% damage reduction Mejai's: 360 health, 180 AP, 15% CDR
Which do you consider a better option?

You cant zhonya's while ulting. Basically, the only thing you can do while ulted is ignite (without interrupting). Also, watch out for quicksilver sash, since you can still cleanse his ult with it.
edit: this is about malzahar, if you didnt notice, lol

What do you know. We lost..
Oh and our jungle amumu was fing useless too.
Some nights shouldnt bother playing seriously.

I never get health items on Vladimir because they give you a lot less damage output and the amount of hp he gains from his ap is more than enough to keep him alive.
If you stack health you become more prone to dying to the anti-tank spells/items than if you build pure AP and you don't gain more damage output so there is really no reason to get hp over ap.
In the example you gave you get 150 less ap, thats a lot... thats a much bigger deal than 500 hp.

Not to mention the fact 15% CDR is pretty sweet, letting your Transfuse hit way more often and way harder definitely buffers the health difference.

Imo going a full ASPD page on jungle Xin is perfectly viable since you will be healing so fast that the extra armor/hp from seals/quints won't matter, not to mention that killing creeps faster means essentially taking less damage. The thing is that ASPD scales better than HP from quints and on par with armor. Definitely ASPD or APen quints on jungle Xin.
ASPD/CDR on Xin form a nice synergy because they both reduce his cooldowns. This is what I have in mind when building him.
I don't recall a single item that has both CDR and ASPD, so you must choose between the two. (And it's important that no base item has CDR or APen, those are all recipes). If you go the ASPD route, you can get APen runes, but you will be lacking CDR. If you build CDR, you can get ASPD runes and you will still have your APen because GB/B have them. Building CDR in runes is pretty lackluster. Having APen is great because it's a huge huge boost to your ult early on.
But then again, getting stunned when your W is active will totally RUIN you, so I'm not really sure about this build.

Doesn't Xin's ult deal magic damage?

It's physical.

From their website:
Crescent Sweep - Xin Zhao fiercely sweeps his spear around him, dealing damage to nearby enemies based on their current health. Xin Zhao unleashes a fierce spear sweep on targets around him, dealing 125/250/375 + 20/20/20% of their current health in physical damage. His magic resistance and armor are increased by 30/40/50 for the next 8 seconds.
Looks like I was incorrect. ^^
That's actually kind of a shame, because now he is just like pantheon. Buy a little bit of armor and he becomes very lack-luster. Of course his AoE abilities are infinitely better
