Edit: The item system works like this: Items in your inventory have their cost subtracted from the recipe that you wanted to buy. If you have a Ruby Crystal and want to purchase a Catalyst the Protector, you only need 850g instead of Catalyst's 1325 cost. Since you don't lose stats from combining, it's just a way to buy part of an item when you go to town instead of the whole thing. | ||

I'm just totally confused.. halp You probably bought an item that built from an item you already had. Examples: 1) You have a Doran's Shield and buy a Cloth Armor. You will end up with both items because they are not related at all. 2) You have an Amplifying Tome and by a Mejai's Soulstealer. You will now only have the Soulstealer because the Tome builds into the Soulstealer. To make up for the loss, you only have to pay the price for "upgrading" the Tome. If you want a Tome and a Soulstealer, you can just buy another Tome. In all but very few cases it doesn't matter if you buy items in one go or if you get the parts it builds from first and complete the item later. It costs exactly the same. 3) You have a Sheen, a Phage and a Zeal, and buy a Trinity Force. Now you will only have the Trinity Force as it builds from all 3 items together. If you were missing the Zeal, you would just have to pay that additional money to finish the Trinity Force. | ||

To above post: No Im pretty sure I bought one of these unique/magic items that replaced a previous magic item Was it beacuse they were both in the damage category? Edit: Ok I think I understand better now. Pretty much you cannot use an item that is used to build a higher tier item. | ||

You will get 2 * 25 damage, but you can only get the other stats once (10% cooldown reduction and 15 armor penetration). Unique does only apply to items with identical names. If you have 2 different items with the same unique stats, they will stack. Though there are exceptions, mainly the unique effects of Sheen/Lichbane/Trinity Force won't stack. | ||

also I tested manamune on shen to see if he'd get bonus damage based on 200 energy and the answer is no also, to myopia, that was a great find in ki strikeanf vopal blade. I thought it was irrelevant at first but upon further consideration and testing, not only will ki strike not proc healing from vorpal, but if you already have the vorpal heal buff in progress and you attack the same creep with ki strike and kill it, you'll CANCEL the heal you were proccing this isn't huge unless you're auto attacking but it is pretty annoying on jungle shen if you finish a creep with ki strike  | ||

Edit: For instance, SotD might be more cost effective in terms of ASPD than Pickaxe + Recurve (+25 damage +40% aspd) but with the latter you're halfway to Bloodrazor. Hmm. Edit2: or should I say just saying... | ||
