Hey Brees - how do you build Malzahar? I've been going:
0/9/21 flash/ghost MS quint / mpen / mp5plvl /mp5plvl
then all tanky caster items: ring-ring-sorc-rylais-banshees-frozen. Been working well in normal queue.

Right now I have
- MPen Reds (Full) - APen Reds (Half Full) - CDR/18 Blues (Full) - Flat HP Quints (Full) - MP5/18 Yellows (Full) - HP/18 Yellows (Full)
Any interesting non-mage hero that can build off of these runes?
Your runes are general enough that they'll work on any champ in the game. They may not be completely ideal, but they'll do.

My most recent duo queue record is ~30 losses in a row - yes, that's 0 wins in 30 games. I thought duo queue didn't count as premade, is this now incorrect?
if you are in duo queue, your opponents will not be a 5-man premade, they are lying if they say they are

I've only played about 400ish games total.

Yeah that's what I read somewhere before. I just have a tiny bit of trouble believing that 5 randoms can pull off as much coordination as I've seen with some of these teams that said they were premade (the kind of stuff we do in our own premades - gank the weakest character/lane over and over to get someone fed, hide spread out in the jungle and have someone bait etc.).
It's easier for me to believe that there's some issue with the matchmaking (only within the past few days) than that another team of solo queuers are somehow not as crippled in terms of overall coordination/skill as my team. The recent matchmaking time increase bug may be a visible symptom of some more complex problem.

nah, it's just selective memory you're more prone to remember a bunch of baddies that lose you 15 elo points in 10 short minutes than the leagues of average players that don't feed/excel a bunch every game
besides, ganking a feeder who clearly has no map awareness over and over isn't exactly high level play, nor is basic baiting...

He said normal games, where anyone fights everyone.

I don't feel that losing 30 games in a row is selective memory. The past few days have just been particularly bad, which is the only reason I was really asking. I agree at those tricks not being high-level - especially since they don't work on anyone except bad players... which are on my team :/.

Anyway, I've been going merc/tabi (depending on main carries of opposite team), GA, Banshees/Thornmail, Zhonya's and it works amazingly. Summoner heal + Ult negates heavy AoE (so you just wait till they blow their CDs then blow both those and get your team back to 3/4 health) and GA means if they focus you, they lose, because you can blow all your heals, die, rez, then heal again while your carries pound them.
problem is, she's seriously outshined in the support department by several heroes. janna, alistair, taric and even kayle (i kno she's not technically support) add more utility to the team than soraka does due to the nerfs of locket and riot's crusade against heal comps (which i think they blamed a significant amount on soraka)
edit: this is purely from the viewpoint from my elo btw, just thought i'd clairify that, since that issue seems to be coming up fairly often in this thread

fun fact: HeavOnEarth's blog is the lowest rated blog on TL. i wonder who he pissed off that 1-starred all of them haha.

I run the same masteries and spells, I use Flat HP quints, magic pen reds, Flat armor yellows, and Scaling MR blues (I like to play shield heroes and it helps make you a little more tanky)
i only play him if i can get solo lane and farm mid with E/W combo, maxing E then Q then W.
usually go doran ring + hp pot catalyst merc treads haunting guise Rylai's catalyst ---> banshee veil Zhonya's
the great thing about malzahar is that you can completely nullify one person on their team without putting yourself in danger at all as long as you know when and who to ult

ive actually been playing malz, and for a champ who i have consistently bashed and looked down upon, im going to have to say im impressed. Ive been going ignite/flash and ring, rylais, banshees against caster teams and frozen heart against physicals. I think the interesting thing about him is that he really punishes people who stray out of position, as well as being an insanely strong pusher. Gonna be glad to see the malz buffs next patch :o

Anyone have any thoughts as to how much Miss Fortune will cost? I've been avoiding buying runes for a little bit since it seems inevitable that she will be 3150 or 6300. I know RIOT needs to make money, but they haven't released a 1350 champ since I started playing a couple weeks before season one.

They had Xin Zhao the super-easy-to-play-monkey for 3150. 1350 champs won't exist anymore.

That's my thoughts exactly. They definitely can't claim the prices are based on difficulty after that one.
Edit: I mean the pricing for new ones.

My current favorite is 0/21/9. Guess I'll also drop the MSpd quints to see how it feels with more HP. If I get 3 in Meditation, the MP5/L seals seem obsolete, so maybe I should try something with Veteran's Scars and 3 in Meditation, and then replace the seals with flat defense (because I have those already). I'm using Teleport/Ghost for now, but I really miss Cleanse. It just sucks being stunned. I'm no singed pro but I run the following without feeling squishy at all 0/9/21 <- get Strength of Spirit cleanse/ghost MS quint / MPen red / mp5plvl yellow / mres plvl blue items are something like mana crystal + two pots merc treads / swiftness roa banshees sunfire force of nature ga though you've got a lot of latitude with items after your first RoA.
x/x/21 seems like a waste on Singed. Imo the CDR isn't important for him, and he isn't so reliant on summoner spells that I would go all the way down to 21. Movespeed is reasonable, but nothing below that. Of course I am not really squishy with Singed, but I want to be able to dive even more recklessly and therefore I am looking for the sturdiest setup that doesn't hurt his usefulness.

If your team is doing well, you're a decent player and get your team to follow your advice - yes it happens, although rare - then you can coordinate a crushing victory with ease. Doesn't have to be a premade. I wonder if our enemies thought we had some sort of masterplan that included Ashe + Ez in mid when we crushed them while I had to put up with a flamer Ez...
My bet is that Miss Fortune will be 6000 IP. A lot of people will buy her for the looks, way to make money. Though I personally would prefer her to look more pirate-y.

There's nothing wrong with champs being 6300.
If you think about it, a typical person will definitely get over 3K IP in a timespan of 2 weeks. You get this much just winning a single game every day. Riot releases new champs every 2 weeks, so, if they're all 3150 or below in IP, there's exactly no stimulus for anyone to invest into Riot Points. It does make little sense from the player's perspective as well - you don't need to own EVERY champion Riot releases.

This is true, but I can't agree with there being no stimulus for rp. People like to have skins, ip boosts are great, the 7 rune pages are a good deal, and the bundles can save you a lot of time/money. And while someone may get 3k or more in two weeks, think of how much of that goes into runes. A set of good quints can set you back 6150. There are times I decided not to get a new champ because I needed runes, not just to complete my main page, but also many champs take different runes.
I'd like to pick up Malz and play him a bit but his cost is too prohibitive for a character I might not play a lot. Plus I'm discouraged from playing mages since I don't have a full set of Mpen marks. It just exacerbates the problem when every new champ is at least 3150. I didn't say they should make everyone cheap, what's wrong with a 1350 champ once in >3 months?
Meh it's not really a big deal, I was just kinda pointing it out. I think the new champ looks pretty cool and I am just sad that I can't finish my Mpen marks because I have to save a boatload of points. Q.Q
