For the most part I think the game is very balanced. Ashe ults from afar will usually miss so that's a very odd thing to complain about.

You can avoid all bounces by simply being to the side of the creep, which nullifies one spell, his prison blows at low levels, and his single-hit nuke is not only inefficient mana-wise but has a low cooldown. All of this is in conjunction with terrible casting range and no survivability. The majority of proper solo mid heroes played by good players, like Ashe, Kat, Pantheon, etc. etc. will obliterate Ryze.

![]() I didn't die to wraiths this time. They brought me down to 90 hp but my second alpha strike took them out. I started with armor + 5hp pots this time and it worked better. I had some great ganks but my team was awful. Would have worked if I didn't solo que. I did die to Dragon though lol.

re: the dude asking whether he should get kat, kass, nid, malph, or shen: they're all very viable champs, pick the one you want. Nidalee and Shen are the best of them, but as of right now, I consider both of them tier 2 and the other three tier 3.

He pretty much stood in the air for 5 seconds and died while in the air. Was lulz. It happens with all characters who can do knockups, seemingly at random. I love when it happens, but not to me. I find that competent Ryze players are pretty hard to deal with mid, because they'll just level the bounce shot to harass you from their side of the lane while putting a point in prison to keep you from getting a combo off. They basically farm a shit ton while denying many characters a lot of creep kills. Not saying that some characters like kat/panth won't out-burst him, but he's definitely a stronger choice for mid than he used to be. I just played with a guy with 1600~ wins who mained Ryze. He had more wins with Ryze than I had games and he took mid and carried us from being down like 10-2 and 2 towers to acing them and taking their nexus. Just an example, not proving anything.

He had more wins with Ryze than I had games and he took mid and carried us from being down like 10-2 and 2 towers to acing them and taking their nexus. Just an example, not proving anything. My point is, a competent player will simply stand off of the creep, thus, targeting the player with bounce shot will simply turn it into a single-target single-hit nuke. At this point, coupled with his lack of range, the Trists and Ashes (ranged DPS) of the world will pummel Ryze, as they outrange him and have far more sustained damage output if Ryze were to actually try to close the gap and cast his two single-target single-hit nukes. Other dedicated solo mid nukers (Pantheon, Kat, Karthus, Anivia, Annie, etc.) have much stronger, more repeatable (attrition) combos and/or superior range or burst, particularly until level 6 (where Ryze finally begins to shine). "Well you just have to wait until level 6" you might say. A couple days ago I was playing Ashe vs Ashe, where the other Ashe opened Doran's Blade and I opened Fortitude. Suffice it to say I was level 6 when he was level 4. "Waiting until level 6" when you're outmatched solo is rarely going to end well. "But you can break combos with prison" you bring up. That's fine and dandy except prison doesn't actually break combos. It's an entangle, not a stun, so casting prison on Pantheon/Kat does jack-all for you, except to cause you to stand in place in their channeled spell for another second.

Edit: I mean, if I'm Ashe, you're gonna lose a lot of HP, without even hitting me once, because our range differential is enormous. Unless I'm lagging, and/or unless you're using Ghost/Flash to try to catch me off-guard.

Sivir really tears me up, but Ezreal looks to have better ganking capabilities which is what I've been enjoying the most.

The bad thing about Ezreal is that everyone plays Ezreal so you will see a lot of Ezreal vs Ezreal mirror match-ups at mid.

I'm working an early catalyst into more and more of my "farmer characters" now. Karthus, Corki, Sivir, maybe yi?. It's just so good. I hate going back to town,

i've yet to play karthus so i don't know his abilities, but he seemed to have some sort of perma-AOE that did massive damage... what's up with that? can someone explain how a hero that i've always heard was shitty, absolutely rolled me when i was playing my best hero on my best map?
