![]() ![]() Yay, solo queue isn't complete garbage anymore! Either that or I am incredibly lucky I am having alot of fun with free GP week, really considering buying him. Has anyone tried Galio yet? opinions/thoughts? Also lol @ more run pages...I have only finished one and have bought barely any heros, they should make gaining IP faster or lower the prices, the amount of grinding you have to do really makes this game feel like a chore most of the time T_T

nothing like random-ass 1.2K crit parley being the deciding factor in a teamfight :p.

For the sake of an experiment, let's assume that Annie has sorc shoes, 10 mpen from masteries(full marks and a quint), and that Ashe has merc treads and no other sources of mres. Then let's compare a Haunting Guise and a Needlessly Large Rod. Let's also assume Annie doesn't have the mpen mastery and no other sources of AP. Damage of lvl 5 Disintegrate with Needlessly Large Rod: 260 + (0.6*80) = 308 Damage to Ashe: 308 / 1.25 = 246.4 Damage of lvl 5 Disintegrate with Haunting Guise: 260 + (0.6*25) = 275 Damage to Ashe : 275 / 1.05 = 261.9 Haunting Guise is cheaper than NLR and also gives HP. Is Haunting Guise underrated? Discuss.

Getting crit like that randomly, by a gangplank that is terrible, (all of them) and dying as a result makes me sad. It's one of the lamest ways to die in all of League of Legends I think.

it's also a lot less noticeable vs. higher amount of magic resist.

However, if you aren't going for a full spell penetration build then generally stacking AP is a better choice, though it does give extra HP as well so I find the guise to be an excellent item for the price.

That seriously is the range where most non-tanky champions will be Most don't get any additional mres other than merc treads. Let's do the same with 130 mres(you very, very rarely see anyone have higher than this) though: Damage of lvl 5 Disintegrate with Needlessly Large Rod: 260 + (0.6*180) = 308 Damage to Ashe: 308 / 2.0 = 154 Damage of lvl 5 Disintegrate with Haunting Guise: 260 + (0.6*125) = 275 Damage to Ashe: 275 / 1.8 = 152.8 However, after just a little bit of more AP, Haunting Guise is better again. With 100 extra AP from a random source: Damage of lvl 5 Disintegrate with Needlessly Large Rod: 260 + (0.6*180) = 368 Damage to Ashe: 368 / 2.0 = 184 Damage of lvl 5 Disintegrate with Haunting Guise: 260 + (0.6*125) = 335 Damage to Ashe: 335 / 1.8 = 186.1 Remember it's cheaper and gives 200 hp. Oh another thing. No one was dissing Brutalizer just because it didn't build into an Infinity Edge. So yeah, to me Haunting Guise seems really underrated, these results are quite surprising. Actually, stacking mpen until they're as close to 0 mres as possible is a lot better than stacking AP. If you get a Void Staff, this might not be the case anymore.

I've mentioned it a number of times, but LIBF's awesome Anivia basically rushed Sorc + Guise and had MPen runes so he'd run around with some 60 or so magic pen, which meant even with Merc Treads you didn't have enough. Eating a full combo from Anivia is brutal. He'd basically ride this early-game to stack AP and just kill people really fast and wreck a game from the onset. It's a bad item if you're building for mid-late game. Edit: By the way the reason Guise sucks mid-late is because it costs a lot for an item that's essentially as useful as Doran's Ring late-game. That is to say you'll probably sell it for space. Edit2: Also most people did diss Brutalizer. The only heroes that ran Bruta prior to Ghostblade were Ashe and Pantheon. It was a really bad item on everyone else because it costs a lot, doesn't actually add that much damage, and gets countered for really cheap (300 gold).

"By the way the reason Guise sucks mid-late is because it costs a lot for an item that's essentially as useful as Doran's Ring late-game. That is to say you'll probably sell it for space." Champions by default have way more armor than mres, and Brutalizer only had 15 apen whereas HG has 20. Also, mpen scales with the amount of AP you have. Oh, did I even mention the health... I'll probably start rushing HG on every caster from now on, love calculating things like this ^_^

for whatever it's worth, I can't remember the last time I finished a remotely close game with less than 150 MRes on Amumu or Garen.
