The problem with Zilean is hes great early and does tons of damage but that doesn't translate into pushing ability he isnt able to really punish the other team like heimer can by taking down towers quickly.

Edit: Oh, also some strong tanks, well that's all the same. Zilean with Amumu is quite funtastic, because late-game teams really panic trying to deal with Amumu's damage output, and if he gets revived it's like looooool.

Whatever you do, don't drink the AP Gragas koolaid, what a waste of potential that is.

Edit: I've also seen Swoozee run pure AP and just nuke the shit out of people. It just depends on what your team needs you as, I think, because one game I remember Krimson mumbling "sweet I can build DPS" and another going "barrel spam!" (when he laned with Soraka) Edit2: If your team needs you to tank, though, please for the love of god tank.

He does okay damage at the start, but only has one damage skill for AP ratio, so AP is actually remarkably underwhelming on him... yet he has to get AP to make his bomb do anything and for his ult to heal. It ends up being how much mileage you can get out of his ult and speed-boost, which is very dependant on something that's tough to kill and needs speedboosts to work. See first sentence. With 40% CDR, you can cast your ultimate approximately every 25 seconds, and you can easily keep time warp on somebody indefinitely. Glacial Shroud --> Soul Shroud --> Frozen Heart. I'm level 22 or 23, but I played DotA a lot two or three years ago. I have experience in this type of game, and I'm definitely better than at least 70% of level 30s.

APC: I played DotA for like 2-3 years as well. I'm not gonna speculate on how good (relatively) I was between 20-30 but I'm significantly wiser and have a much better understanding of the game now than I did back then, and back then I thought I was pretty good, too. My point with <30s is more that, maybe 5% of <30s are actually really good, and they'll sparkle with like the 60-80% win rate you need to have good ratings. The other 95% are terrible. So when you consider that <30s have like, what, a 40% win rate, and the majority of those wins (IMO) come from a minority, that leaves a ridiculous number of <30s with like a 10-20% win rate. I understand the few <30s that have great records and are actually good or moderate at the game, but AFAIK there's no way to distinguish, except by way of normal games, but they obviously opted not to seed via normal rankings, so what can you do. Edit: CDR is nice on Zilean but it makes you even more of a one-trick pony, like CDR Kayle before they buffed her. It's just not worth lugging Zilean around if all you're going to take advantage of is a shitty ult (because it doesn't heal much without AP).

Honestly, if people think they're actually that good at LoL, then grind up to 30, then reach that elo in ranked in like 15 games. It doesn't take much to rocket up the standings, especially with your early games where you get like 30+ points for a win. It's not like you're not learning in normal games, anyways. If you find yourself at the top elo bracket in normal games, yeah, you can kinda complain, but then you can also just roflstomp everyone (most of the top players are mostly playing ranked anyways) and get 30 faster via the win exp *shrugs* You can talk about a diluted player pool all you want in normal but if you're not at the very top it really doesn't matter, it'll eventually find a wall for you to bash your head against and then complain about crappy players, as always.

It's just not worth lugging Zilean around if all you're going to take advantage of is a shitty ult (because it doesn't heal much without AP). 1) Rewind gets down to 3.6 seconds. A time bomb every 3.6 seconds is still going to put on the hurt without much AP. 2) Constant Time Warps have saved my allies and made kills possible more times than I can count. 3) 1000 health is nothing to scoff at, and I obviously always build AP after CDR (though, to be fair, there usually isn't much time to build AP after I have CDR).

just finished this game, we were getting slaughtered up until the 30 minute mark. Their Ez dominated our Ashe mid (0-4), their Xin/Garen crushed me and Kass bot (killed Kass 4 times, me once) we had no map control whatsoever. Our Taric/Mordekaiser top lane managed to get pretty farmed though. Every team fight us three squishies would die almost immediately, and Taric/Morde would just wear the rest down. We managed to catch up in towers even though we were behind 15 kills. After we've gotten an inhib each, they get the best of us in a teamfight. Then, they pass our Baron wards. Kass and I were the only two alive on our side, I was tempted to just let them have it and give up. Then, we notice Kass was running Clairvoyance. He uses it, we tele/alpha strike steal the baron from jungle side and sweep the game. We were all laughing pretty hard.
