How is it the slums? If you're lvl 25, you'll play with all the 25's in normal games as well. Then when you're 30 you can play ranked. As said, it makes no sense at all to have people without all the runes and masteries. Even footing for ranked imo

I'm pretty pissed about that too. There was this same issue in HoN where people were complaining about their low PSR(their elo) because of baddies in their games. And then someone actually took the time to calculate everything out. He assigned 1000 "people" two elo ratings, one which would be representative of the player's real skill, and the other one his elo as perceived by the game. After just 20 games with random teams, the vast majority of people had less than a 100 point difference between their real elo and their perceived one. So it turns out all those complaints on the HoN forums were just the result of people who believed they were better than they really were and had a bad case of confirmation bias. I really wish that the Riot staff had the same insight.
The first graph they used to justify the change was also pretty terrible. I don't think they fully understood that chaos was bound to ensue when matchmaking started. Eventually, the win rates will settle down to around 50% due to the way matchmaking works. If they had waited another week, I think the week 2 results would show a more even distribution of wins between the different levels.
edit: i just wish they had ban picking for normal games. blind pick is a terrible mode where bad luck leads to bad matchups lead to unecessary losses.

No, actually it's called a ban. Did you know, even here on this forum, there is such a thing as a temporary ban, for a pre determined amount of time? Why then, is it so hard for you to understand that it is perfectly acceptable in the English language to call being temporarily forbidden from doing something a ban? Perhaps you should inform a moderator that you believe it should be called a posting restriction, as it doesn't fit your own arbitrary definition of what a ban is (as wrong as you may be)

I think the only real problem with how they've handled this situation is not foreseeing it and just starting off with the 30 level restriction. Going from 20+ to 30 only after release is just a PR nightmare, even though it makes sense on a lot of levels.

really all this wouldve been solved if they just kept normal games normal and made elos visible and never made "ranked". because all the bitching is just people pissed about having to get through all the baddies again(which there was a fair amount of bitching to begin with). then they wouldnt have to have a stupid restriction which is guaranteed to cause bitching.
