These are incontrovertible facts, the depths of badness in LoL/HoN/Dota are unfathomable. What they should have done: implement some sort of tax relative to your summoner level. A level 30 starts at 1200, a level 25 starts at 1100, etc etc. You could feasibly go all the way down to level 1s if you truly wanted. It would actually be really interesting to see how far a top player could go on a level 1 account. But for arguments sake start it at level 20 like it was. Maybe 20s start at 1000. People with the ability to work their way up will do so eventually, people who can't won't initially be in the way of all the bad 30s who refuse to accept it, who will find other factors to blame instead of level 20s. There's going to be some placebo effect, most level 30s think this is some victory for them and that surely now they will be "mid-high elo" like they purport to be on the forums. Riot might sell some more xp potions, less level 30s will get discouraged etc. Keep in mind I'm sure SC2 coming out is at least somewhat threatening to their playerbase so it's not too far of a stretch to consider this sort of move battening down the hatches | ||

the reason why they wont do the tax is that(i think uta pointed this out) for elo to work you need an "average" player. really what they should of done is have everyone allowed to play ranked and everyone start at the same level. hmm i wonder if riot has ever had something like that. in the end riot fucked up. but all is not lost! you can still play ranked by getting to lvl 30. and until then you can still play with people your level instead of the clusterfuck that is ranked play right now. it sucks i know. shikyo yea that is boring, but is it competitive play? again i dont know if i think either one is the definitive competitive format, i just think there isnt a clear answer. i think they should have blind pick and draft available to everyone *edit also reminds me of people bitching about fox/falco all day long in melee. which has SIGNIFICANTLY more imbalance than LoL | ||

I was especially annoyed at our Nasus for instead of ganking the other team doing Baron, or letting you hook, he decided instead to throw down a spirit fire, tipping the other team off to run away safely. Then he had the bright idea of going for Baron when the whole other team was still at Golem and getting half our team killed. I'm glad you and your friend were blitz/ashe, or I woulda been disappointed in you lol. | ||

Edit: I've pretty much been banning Heimer/Shaco/Kayle every time I have banrights... I can take being beaten by better players but I'd rather be beaten by people like grandjudge playing something skill-based (Annie, Akali etc.) than being bludgeoned to death by a good player playing a great hero (Kayle). | ||
