Pretty nice game for those who liked Heroes of Might and Magic III. It's a resource management fantasy strategy-RPG with a turn based combat system.
Here's a game play vid:
For you who hasn't played HoMam: You start with a castle and a hero and a few units under the command of your hero. Then you level your hero, upgrade your castle buildings to get more advanced units and spells for your hero, and eventually you get more castles and heroes. And since this is an MMO, you can wage wars and attack other peoples castles/mines to steal their resources.
It's pretty easy to learn, even if you haven't played Heroes of Might and Magic. I can recommend the exellent wiki and newbieguide at wikia:
There are several servers to play on, I play it on the Pandora server via kongregate. It's the most recently added server and it's not full of lvl100 guys yet.
If you like the game and plan to play it actively, you could apply to my guild splendour when you have build en embassy. Beeing in a guild has several advantages, the biggest one is that you can level up your hero the first 20-30 levels pretty fast via Guild Build. You also get help/tips pretty fast via the guild chat and backup if you're getting attacked.
If you have any questions about the game you can ask in this thread or send a PM to me on the Pandora server. My account name is VoirDire.
Gonna start when I get back from work today, i'm debating human or necro, what race do you suggest? (I've played HOMM before, so those were the races I enjoyed)
Necro is called undead in this game. But races don't differ that much to be honest,
Humans have earlier ranged units (Tier 3), so they will be a little better at aquiring resources without any unit losses in the beginning. Undeads first ranged unit is tier 6, but that's also the best tier 6 unit.
Undead have great castellian spell that makes you train units faster. Every player want's an undead or orc castle eventually to get a faster unit training spell.
Human have the best tier 10 units for late game PVP and arena fights.
did yuo know heroes of might and magic online was being tested ATM ?
i'd say that the game is less strategic (castle building and assessment) than heroes of gaia or any older HoMM but the battle system is definately more intuitive just from a glance of things

which server are you on?
I'm soon 80k fame and ready to get a 3rd castle.
I'm on Pandora, just hit 14k fame, and I'm thinking of conquering a castle. Unfortunately, the guild I'm in is under attack by Rampage (yet they haven't actually attacked yet...) =)
I had to exit the game and login again to be able to access the equipment page. You simply click on the hero's face in your castle. Increasing the hero's stats increases the stats of his units.
The game is really addciting, unfortunately there is ane xtensive amount of bugs and the staff running the game are just.. words cannot explain.. ie I got banned TWICE for using the portal bug, but when I reported Elrani/JerkFace and had screenshots, they didn't get banned. Or when we took a capital but it glitched out and they did nothing.. Or when I kill people and they get their troops back for free because people complain.. The list goes on
I'm ianianian on Pandora server, kind of in charge of Redemption. I started on dionysus and played around in Murder for awhle and switched servers when Pandora came out.
I'd be up for starting a guild with teamliquid people if a new server came out Kind of sucks since starting late is such a huge disadvantage though.. But I would def start up a new guild. Hopefully TL people are fast learners
The new expansion might break the game imo. People that spend thousands of $ on the game (and there are some) are going to be completely untouchahble. even by other top players.
I don't mind microtransactions in these types of games at all, but their prices are not exactly "micro." Even basic cards cost $5-10, and there are items in the store that are as expensive as a retail game. I suppose the demand is rather inelastic: 98% of players will never pay anything no matter how cheap items are, and 1% of players will spend thousands even at high prices. There likely aren't enough people in between to justify lowering prices, especially since that top 1% might be less inclined to play and buy stuff if the low price means they can't buy their way ahead of everyone else.
Ian: that's quite a nice guild you've got. There's no way TL has enough interest in the game to start a guild though.

It's really not. We've got like 5-6 active players that can hold their own. Nobody in our guild ever talks. It's dead now that our top 3 players all quit. And it just so happens that every powerful player in the game is allied against us. It's such bullshit, idk why the fuck they even bother playing if all they are gonna do is ally whore :/
Just thought I'd bump this because the new "rise of the guilds" expansion is live. Some new features are:
forging and grafting, ways to improve and customize your items. guild battles, instance like guild vs guild arenas. 1on1 pvp ranking league. New Items.
Also, there's an added durability on castles, which makes secondary castles more defendable. There's probably more changes, but that's what i remember just now.
We are a few guys from TL playing. Come join us!
The game get's even more fun one you get to high level and starts PVP-ing, intercepting and take over enemy castles.
You really don't need to buy stuff. I never did and I do just fine.
