God, building my team is so stressful. I want to be able to counter everything but it's impossible >.< pursuit, bullet punch, u-turn, Other ability = what goes on a scizor.
Since well... technician'ed and stabbed bullet punch HURTS pokes, technician'ed pursuit HURTS pokes, and well u-turn to gtfo.
Then well do you want a STAB bug type to kill darks and psychics, or do you want more type coverage with something else?

Well right now I have
Swords Dance Brick Break Bullet Punch Bug Bite
I liked the set so far, because my team has coverage for everything (except Ghosts). I can try Pursuit over Brick Break. So what should I turn the set into then?
U-Turn Pursuit Bullet Punch ???

Superpower is the best option, but gen 4 only, if that's a concern to you.

I play gen 5 Dream World OU :x
But I originally chose Brick Break over Superpower because I don't want to lower my Attack and Defense like that.

Choiced sets will prefer Superpower because they are hit-and-run anyway, while SD sets will use Superpower as a last-ditch coverage move. EDIT: so yeah SD / Bullet Punch / Bug Bite / Superpower is probably the best SD set.

So I havent played since the gold silver/ a bit of emerald days. Can someone give me an update on the current battle system? What the hell is all this lingo?

some basic abbreviations for competitive play: + Show Spoiler + Tiers OU = Overused, the "Standard" tier BL = Borderline, too strong to be UU but not commonly used UU = Underused LU = Little Used NU = Never Used NFE = Not Fully Evolved
Attacks EQ = Earthquake SD = Swords Dance HP = Hidden Power SR = Stealth Rock BP = Baton Pass (not commonly seen in 5th gen)
Pokemon abbreviations are usually self-explanatory, but a couple 5th gen pokemon are commonly abbreviated based on their japanese names: Dory = Excadrill (Doryuuzu) Rank = Reuniclus (Rankurusu) Natto = Ferrothorn (Nattorei) Shandy = Chandelure (Shanderaa)
Items CB = Choice Band LO = Life Orb Lefties = Leftovers
Misc. hax = extreme, clutch luck
i'll add to that as i think of more

All right, how's this Scizor set?
Scizor (F) @ Choice Band Trait: Technician EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk) - U-turn - Bullet Punch - Superpower - Pursuit

Standard CB scizor is usually 252hp/252atk/4def
Any reason you are running speed? Everything else looks standard, so it's still as deadly as ever.

Ditch the speed, it's pointless.
Max HP instead.
Also, as for Skarmory walling Metagross...yes there isn't really much you can do about that besides running a Mixed gross. Skarmory walls many many physical pokemon because that's what he's designed for. Best way to deal with Skarm is to you know...use a special attack :D

All right, I'll put the Speed EVs into HP. I'm still new at this >.>
But after playing a couple games, that set was able to get quite a few KOs. I like it a lot more than my SD LO set already.

CB Scizor is a monster.
Best way to deal with Skarm is to bring in something with Taunt and a setup move. My preferred option is Taunt Gyarados, since nobody ever sees that coming for some reason.

Taunt Gyarados?
Hahaha I wouldn't see that coming either.
but yes if you don't have a good Special attacker then taunt and setup fodder is excellent.
I think it's important to understand why you go HP over Speed on Scizor or you won't understand why you do that.
Scizor is pretty damn slow. Even if you do max Speed EV's you're not going to outspeed the pokemon you're typically revenge killing anyway. Also, Bullet Punch is a priority so you bypass its medicore speed anyway.
On top of this Scizor has...9 Resistances? I think it's 9 with 1 immunity. Scizor is fairly bulky with its 70/100/80 so if you use HP EV's the only thing that'll reliably OHKO Scizor in OU would be fire attacks.
Also Heatran makes an amazing partner for Scizor

The only thing that ever kills my Skarmory is surprise Fire attacks. And the occasional Electric attack. I'm really liking this CB Scizor. And with Porygon2's Magic Coat for SR, and some Spikes from Skarm, battles are kinda easy.
Why do people even use Volcarona? Every time I face one it just gets neutered by SR. It starts at 50%, then it's usually KO'd after a Quiver Dance.

i'll add to that as i think of more Biggest difference is the physical/special changes - moves of grass type, for example, will not always be based on special attack as they were in Gen I - III. (Shadow ball medicham nuuuuu)

Volcarona is extremely good if you center your team around it. It is such an insanely powerful Sweeper that it's worth using as your main attacker.
This means that your team will likely have a Rapid Spinner on it...or two even if you really go balls to the wall. If Volcarona gets a Quiver Dance off kiss your ass goodbye. People just like to look at the stats often and pick Pokemon but something like Volcarona needs to be babysat with Rapid Spin support.

Maybe I could switch Zapdos out for Heatran...Hmm.
Edit @ Jayme: Yeah, after just one Quiver Dance, my Starmie will usually only do about 45% to Volcaronas. Though I have no Sp. Attack EVs on my Starmie.
