If I wanted to just use 1 - 3 pokes... then I would grab any poke in the game, and then audino grind it up to be able to beat any gym and ya... you can litterally solo the game with a single poke very easily as long as you level it properly and get the best type coverage possible... and well don't run only normal + fighting + electric moves and you won't lose the game to a golurk.

Ground / Rock types are few and far between then most others well... you will be playing with like 1 - 3 pokes till E4 then you get to actually play with a full team, kinda sucks. What i did is pick the Fire/fighting pig -> get grass monkey -> get the toad (ground/water) That trio should be enough to beat most of the gym since the pig could also learn rock move to counter flying :D.... edit: extremely good at the early subway battle level :D The main problem is what is the best combination to run elite 4? i mean they pick all 4 anoying shit in the game: fighting psy ghost and dark. Each of them counter the other HARDCORE and there is almost noway you could jump out of that circle. The best way is to get the pure dark pokemons but those has the most shitty stat ever =_=.... right now im trying out something similar to: "toxic -> protect x infinity (or tank)" but the problem is everyone has at least 2 full restores -.-. For those of you who just beat the game once: instead of running from top to white jungle, try to run from the middle (bottom) city to white jungle to top (counter clockwise). Everything is so fucked up that it is so hard @_@... all you do is spam repels and hope no NPC catch you x)...

Everything is so fucked up that it is so hard @_@... all you do is spam repels and hope no NPC catch you x)... Well I picked the grass starter, and then stopped using it after 3rd gym. Went and got the fossil for the rock/flying type, then use Archeops to solo the whole game... since at lvl 45 it can solo the E4 (with Acrobatics, U-turn, Bulldoze, Rockslide). Then for the second round of E4, you simply just train it up to level 75 (kill every trainer on right side of map with archeops alone). Then have it learn EQ and Stone Edge) and ya... game. - - - - For my second play through, I am running a 100% bug team (6 bug pokes) as well, I am trying to train them up equally (I am currently trying to get everyone to level 40.) This is VERY difficult as: 1) Everything kills bug pokes (low def, rock and fire weakness) 2) You cannot have a 1 poke crutch, as if you have any poke ~10 levels higher than everything else, then it still just kills everything due to power... So ya, hard play through, very fun... but ya. Seriously, if you just want to beat the game, just over level a single poke and gg.

For the Fighting guy I just used Archeops and prayed that Acrobatics would one shot everything, so that its Ability wouldn't neuter it >.>

I remember doing this in the RBY days (as did tons of people) with my Charizard and it's Fly/Flamethrower/Fire Blast/Fire Spin moveset.

I kinda think they're overdoing it with the stat moves now, quiver dance volcorona is pretty sick too. Nope, but let me know how it works out... was going to start playing around with a Shell Break Carracosta when I get some time

Pignite -> has a good load of HP and his physical attacks are unmatched by any starters. Will evolve into 123 base physical attack and 110 base HP with 65/65 defensive stats. May not be the bulkiest among starters, but it is definitely close. Definitely bulkier than grass type at least by base stats (grass type may have sources of recovery but still), water type is a little bulkier, but both are unable to deal nearly as much damage. Also, with rock-fighting-fire type moves, has a really good type coverage. Throh -> Damn bulky with 120/85/85 defensive stats. Amazing combo wall with 100 base physical attack stat and move set that can make up for his low speed (Revenge-Reversal-Bulk Up-Circle Throw ftw). I doubt this guy can be broken by dark e4 member even after first 3. Doesn't have a good type coverage, but will definitely sweep any team that has low physical defense and takes at least x1 damage from fighting type. Blitzle -> Evolves into Zebstrika, who has 116 base speed, 100 base physical attack and 80 base special attack. Will definitely sweep with Spark and Wild Charge. Leftovers may heal the recoil damage of wild charge and you're in a quite good spot. Of course if you can get lefties early enough. Sewaddle -> Bug-Grass typing may look cool at the first glance, but x4 weaknesses to My team will be almost complete once I get my Rotom-H or Rotom-W, who have only 2 and 1 x2 weaknesses respectively. Other than that, I'm looking for a special tank, as 2 of e4 use psychic and ghost attacks, most of which are special. I may get a tentacruel for being a special wall, but he has weakness to psychic attacks (which will be covered by sewaddle when he evolves, i hope).

Edit: Also, Poison is only good against Grass, and does normal damage to Bug, so Bug/Grass only has a 2x weakness to Poison.

Doesn't have a great move pool and generally only learns ice moves, but boy oh boy does it hit hard.

LOL Edit: Also, Poison is only good against Grass, and does normal damage to Bug, so Bug/Grass only has a 2x weakness to Poison. Uh, I checked it again and no, Emboar isn't bulkier than Serperior. But, Emboar is bulky enough (actually all 3 starters are quite bulky) even though being the least bulky starter. Emboar has an unmatched physical attack, Serperior does no damage compared to other two, Samurott can be a good mixed sweeper, but Emboar's physical pool along with access to curse and bulk up moves him on top of my list among starters and Samurott's access to swords dance doesn't change it. And what? How? I remember poison dealing 2x to bug as well, guess that was from the old times.

That is very good. What you'd expect from a wall or something. But its Defenses are both 65. Serperior only has 75 HP, but 95 Defenses. Samurott's HP is 95, with 85 and 70 Defenses. Emboar is definitely the least bulky of the three. However, he is definitely the best physical attacker. It just depends on your playstyle, really. Emboar is bascially a physical attacker. Seperior seems best for Dual Screens or something (Sceptile is still faster for SubSeeding), and Samurott would make a nice mixed sweeper.

He takes 4x damage from fire, 2x from fighting, 1x from ice flying bug and ground, and 0.5 or less from everything else (water, electric, normal, rock, steel, grass, psychic, dark, ghost, dragon) and immunity to poison with some ridiculous defensive stats on top of that. He also can learn stealth rock and spikes through breeding so he's pretty safe to lead with. tl;dr he's like fortress but with more resistances (as i think fortress was bug/steel?)

Edit: Now that I think about it, Jellicent could be the perfect partner for it. It can handle the Fire, and is totally immune to Fighting.
