What a random bonus for Japan in terms of building fishing boats....still would have preferred Bushido replaced with some kind of 'Meiji Restoration' type thing that lets them catch up if they are full era or two behind.

Looking good overall
Fixed an issue where you receive a Free Building in a city that had hard built the same building. Before the hard-built building would be sold off (deleting its effect) but due to a logic area the effects for the same (free) building would not be reapplied.
Should fix Aqueducts from the Tradition finisher, Broadcast Towers from CN Tower, etc.

Good fixes, MadDjinn had this bug when he played as India

Finally, so that AI doesn't try ans squeeze out every last piece of land

Hmmm with the 5% tech penalty per city, crappy artic cities weren't really helping science I think.

I am having a lot of trouble doing science victory now (or anything non-culture)... mostly due to culture issues when I hit Plastic. Is there any way to tell what idealogy an AI will choose? Is it just by looking at which way the AI is trying to win?

Send spies to their main cities to check how they are doing (and look at their improvements). But in short, not really. There are big mechanical flaws in victory conditions in Civ that still haven't been addressed (and probably never will be since the designers don't see it as a real issue).

If you hit an Ideology first and can't guess what the influential AI will take you have to remind yourself that you still get +2 policies compared to someone that "follows" another civ's ideology.
When switching ideology, you lose those 2 policies (and 2 turns), so you end up with as much policies as if you had followed someone. This imo helps balancing your issue.

Finally I generally don't get more influence on me than Exotic if I generate enough culture during the first 150turns, so just having the first level of influence unhappiness (around -10) can be quickly solved by those extra policies you get for early adoption.

I usually have no problem with science, domination however can be a real pain though in happiness.

You can also try to get a good timing for archeology and steal some artefact which will in turn reduce AI tourism output and boost your cultural output making it even harder for them to influence you.

yes this is what I am considering as well. But going archeo before electricity/etc. feels a bit slow... I guess I should just do what is required so I don't lose cities.

Btw which civ do you guys think are now a lot stronger than in g&k and which are weaker? It feels to me that India, Songhai, Iroquois, Aztecs are a lot better whereas some civs such as China, Mongolia, thebHuns, Netherlands, and Russia are now a lot weaker due domination victory nerfs and lump-sum deal changes.

Ok, wtf do you do when you're playing continents and there are like 2 sources of iron on your entire continent? I have horses aplenty, but I can't progress militarily without iron -_-

Counting city states ?

There's a lot of good stuff that don't require iron, knights + crossbow is the most popular in the mid game.

I can see the lack of iron being really annoying on continent because you can't make frigate, but that's about it really, there's no reason you can't conquere your own continent without iron. Make range, a few horses, couple trebuchet and win.

trebuchet requires Iron

Anyway, I didn't realize knight doesn't require it. I've already conquered my continent for the most part (couple city states left). I figure I'll just get a fleet of caravels and establish a toehold somewhere on the other continent and then hold over until minutemen.

Is this game even possible to win by domination? It seems so hard to win like this. The more you war, the more everyone hates you and your people hates you. The more you conquer, your unhappiness increase. Seems very problematic to win like this, and your science also has a hard time developing too if you war so you eventually fall behind tech late game right? Any tip on how to win like this on a normal size map against 6-8 players, computer on normal difficulity (I tried higher difficulty but unhappiness too imba).
I may not be the best, but i will be some day...

In the worst case scenario, if you REALLY just want to win by domination, wait until Atomic Era, mass Bombers and Blitzkrieg it. Take as few cities as possible and only aim for the capitals. It'll be really easy on Prince. Make sure you go for Autocracy and get the double Strategic Resources.

I generally try to be very aggressive and can take out 2-3 civilization before rushing artilery which is amazing since it the first long range weapon that can attack city without being attacked back. Which generally allow me to take out 1 more civilization and then I fall signifigantly behind on tech and lose the late game to something like space race. So it is better to just play passive and then win the late game?

? you get hammers quicker, you get longer range trade routers.
