Q: Is one of the not yet revealed civs from Europe? A: Do you mean Europe, the Eurasian landmass, or culturally European but located elsewhere? But seriously, the answer is yes. We have a European Civ coming still. It has to be Italy, though Belgium could be the ultimate Dark Horse. http://www.2kgames.com/blog/the-civilization-v-brave-new-world-team-answers-your-questions

Venice damnit, you have an entire new trade system for them! Germany. How does 1871 sound to you? On May 15 2013 14:17 Kamille wrote: Would including Israel cause too much political controversy? Yes, and I seriously doubt 2k will do Israel. It's just way too murky.

I think what they need is a country to represent 1300-1600 Italy, which objectively contributed more than the unified Italy to humanity. And the only way that works is through Venice, the greatest Italian state and the only one that actually had a real empire.

I can also argue that the Netherlands didn't really play a significant role in world history, at least compared to all other European civs. The same argument can be (even more strongly) applied to Poland - who never became a world power.

Lets see what the Netherlands did: First successful rebellion against the Hapsburg Spanish Empire, invented banking, conquered England and then helped England re-conquer Ireland, held the French empire at bay for most of the 1700s, conquered Indonesia, drove out the Portugese from much of their overseas Empire, brought gunpowder to Japan without religious conversion, and contributed an entire art genre for the period 1500-1700. But yes, other than those things it did not contribute much. I agree with Poland, lucked out into getting Lithunian Empire for nothing and then spent most of their history getting beat up by all their neighbors.

Does it really matter what any particular civilization contributed to history? History, as I am sure that you know, is written by the victors. Incidentally, we happen to have a medium (via a piece of software) that lets us write our own history. I wonder how far you can make Poland go... That said, if they don't get a Piroshki Bakery national wonder, they can DIAF!!!
