right now my vote goes to shen, though I flip flop between all of the top tier that Southlight and I agree upon being the best (Shen, Nidalee, Ezreal, Jax, Fiddlesticks). | ||

Shen is no longer the obvious #1 tank after his nerf. He's (vastly) more mobile than Alistar, but doesn't initiate nearly as well, either. | ||

Nidalee is a decent DPS'er, but trist out ranges her and out damages her, even tho it is very hard to kill her. Shen may be the one I agree with, hes awesome. Ezreal- now this one is a joke. He needs a prefectly alligned team for his ulti to do important dmg, and he should not be in a teamfight unless he wants a quick death. Jax-Jax is a good champ, but he cant carry. Basicall y he is top-tier, but he needs a strong supporting cast. His lane partner needs to help him farm, and he needs money. | ||

For one thing, you overemphasize the ultimates of both Fiddle and Ezreal, while its their other skills that make them good... | ||

He's (vastly) more mobile than Alistar, but doesn't initiate nearly as well, either. well, as southlight keeps saying, the metagame is shifting away from necessarily being forced into conventional teamfights. the map presence, damage output and mobility of shen is just so much more valuable than what any other tank provides. and in light of the metagame shift, I'd also like to point out that I really think Malphite is better than Ali now, purely because of the fact that he can hold his own in the jungle and give your team some early map control + his AoE burst is better when you manage to force teamfights. Ez and Nid are both AP burst/AD DPS/Support Hybrids that are completely fucking insane. Nid's stronger early-mid game and Ez's stronger mid-late game. Nid gives more map prescence, Ez does more in team fights. They're both top tier though because they're so damn good at everything they do. Their heal/AS buffs are the backbone of healer teams' mid game push that is so fucking brutal and gamebreaking, but they're also just flexible enough that they'll both almost always fit perfectly into any team composition. Jax is the closest thing to the hard carries of DotA in this game. Yes he needs help getting there, but I guess you don't get what a carry is because you pointed that deficiency out as evidence that he's not a carry, when that's sorta the whole idea behind carries... they take time to get farmed up, but when they do, they're steamrollers. Fiddle's just the king of disables. Of course a stupid ult will get interrupted, but the fact that he can just bounce a crow around and silence the entire enemy team, then disable their carry forever with his stupid ass fear is plenty good enough to make him a threat without his ult, which then of course lets him be productive without exposing his ult to CC interruption, and then he can ult at the right time and completely explode the other team. To dismiss him as not-top tier because of his ult's vulnerability is ignorant at best. Tristana is not in the running for best character because she's a carry and unlike Jax, she doesn't get retarded built in survivability that allows her to truly carry because you can still get caught with a stun and get dropped in no time flat. Aside from farming and knocking down towers like a boss, Trist has no real utility other than shooting the crap outa shit, which only really scales well once she gets farmed up. She's a good carry, but the way the high level metagame works right now, her early-mid game immobility and dependency on just staying mid and farming like a champ really cripples the rest of her team and leads to poor map presence. She's still tier 2 or 3, but her relative lack of utility compared to other soft carries keeps her down despite being one of the more powerful late game ranged carries (only a farmed twitch really compares, but he comes with the caveat that his farming is fucking garbs, so take your pick :p). | ||
