- LoL allows you to reconnect to matches you've disconnected from, and even gives your hero a 'Teleport Home' command as soon as it notices you've disconnected.
- Somewhat less crowd-control. You can still get crowd controlled to death depending on the enemy team composition in LoL, but there are big differences anyway: Whereas in DotA, Balanar could silence you for 8 seconds with a skill, the LoL equivalent is Soraka's Infuse, which deals 250 damage and a 3 second silence; where in DotA the Tidehunter could stun your entire team for 2.25 seconds with his ultimate, Amumu's ultimate in LoL is very similar but it only prevents the enemies from moving and attacking, not from casting; finally, if the enemy team is going heavy on crowd-control, you can buy Mercury Treads in LoL, which reduce the duration of crowd controls by 40%.
- LoL never deselects your hero, which is nice.
- Easily visible AoE ranges on spells; you can be using a hero for the very first time, and you can still quickly get a good idea of the range and area of their spells.
- Better item management. You want to buy a Mjollnir in DotA? Then you have to buy a Mithril Hammer, Gloves of Haste, the Maelstrom recipe, the Mjollnir recipe, and finally take a trip to Leragas' shop to buy a Hyperstone. In LoL, you can just buy the final item for the total cost of all the components; and even if you're not well-acquainted with the items from LoL, every hero gets a set of recommended items that can get you started without having to pore over the entire item database first.
- Ability Power scaling. Spell damage gets outscaled towards the endgame pretty badly in DotA; this is not the case for LoL. Just like physical damage types can buy items to increase their damage and attack speed, caster types can buy items to increase their ability power and reduce their ability cooldowns.
- Better armor & magic armor system. It's intuitive and well thought-out.
- LoL games feel faster-paced than DotA games.
- Death is less harsh on those who die, but can be more rewarding for the player who kills you in LoL (with Blade of the Occult / Leviathan / Mejai's Soulstealer items).
- No creep denying. Early game isn't about denying your own creeps, but more about harassing the enemy champions in LoL.
- Better hotkey set: QWER for your three standard abilities and your ultimate on every hero.
- Shopping while dead: You can browse the shops and even buy and sell items while dead.

Wondering when my Elo will get hammered down to the point that I start winning again, but no luck so far. The change to matchmaking in the last patch was huge- I've had the opposite effect, where I had like a 40% winrate before the change and it's gone up to like 90% since. I'm getting paired up with opponents who really aren't very good, and stomping them in 30 mins every time. Odd. I *assumed* it was because I was playing jungle-Fiddle, which I'm still learning and is harder to organize. Maybe I'm just playing better players? Maybe you're playing more arranged teams- the old system penalized arranged teams a lot more, by sending them to play against players of much higher summoner levels / ELO ratings. The post-patch matchmaking system seems to be friendlier to arranged teams.

first game 15-1-18, he's not overpowered or anything I've seen those kill/death ratios on a ton of different champions. They are usually the result of a competent player getting fed by... less than competent players throughout the game.

Doesn't even really have to be fed. Just a long game where he is really good compared to his competition. Could be a number of different things. Bottom line is you dont know unless you were there.

Zato I stole your post and stuck it on my first-page post, so we can refer to it whenever someone asks that question again.

Your items are basically standard nuker items, with Nashor's for a little bit of DPS-hybrid. I bet it's pretty effective for ganks and chasing, but once teamfights show up, aren't you just a (really, really) bad Annie/Ryze/Fiddle/etc.? I was thinking the support items might actually make it possible to both play AP Sivir and, y'know, win.
Well then by your argument, what's the point of playing AP Sivir at all? Your AP/Support hybrid items would be more effective on Annie as they would Sivir too. Let's face it, she's not meant to be an AP character but if you're going to play it you might as well go all out. Doing max damage with the boomerang can be awesome and opens up a lot of doorways if you've got someone like Kassadin or your team and I do manage to win a lot of my games as her. My boomerang can unexpectedly get that Ashe hanging around with 70% health to 20% health. Obviously it's harder to one hit kill people because they are wary of your boomerang once they're weak. Disclaimer: I'm not saying AP Sivir is the best way to play Sivir, but its just too fun.
Anyways, you might as well just play Aura sivir. Or Annie/ryze/fiddle, as you say.

We don't have that large of a player base. If we did hold a tournament, it'd be like 30 people tops.

Actually, the items I was talking about would be (A) mediocre on Annie (or any other nuker), and (B) too expensive for them. The thing about boomerang is that its range is absurd, so it can be effective even without a ton of AP/pen, since you can use it without committing to a fight. It's also a great farm tool.
Anyway, I went 4/5/18 with TLers using this basic idea. Not great, but eh.

It's not ALL the best players -- but it's a lot of them. Two out of the three AoN guys (who won the TT tourney) stream there.

Anyone know if Garen's spinning thing procs tiamat? I doubt it'd be too useful, but he'd go through creeps like butter.

Any one know if it's possible to jungle at lvl 11? I want to try Jungle Warwick but I read that you need to get tier 3 runes.

It's easy, when I was learning Warwick I made a new account to practice jungling and I did fine with no runes.

I can't think of any hero that requires runes to do their job. It just means you won't be able to do it at peak efficiency, whatever that is.
