Pirate, Trynd, and Yi are good examples of characters who will almost certainly rush the ghostblade IMO. That's fine, they were all already underpowered (Pirate much less so than the others). I don't mind that it's going to be core for them now because they needed help. Besides, as I said in my other post, core items aren't really a bad thing so long as they're not so far reaching that every champion builds the same and feels the same. In fact, they're bound to happen with item diversity... certain items will naturally suit themselves to certain characters, and as players get better, they'll naturally figure out what the best items to get on their champion are.

Again, it's just about making sure that item builds power is based on the champion, not the items so that champions don't stand blending together. In fact, in this regard, ghostblade is a giant step in the right direction. It turned out that before now, Last Whisper into Infinity Edge was simply the best way you could build for autoattacking, almost completely regardless of hero. This naturally meant that ranged champions were favored for the role and they were all building the same 2 items. Ghostblade being added to the picture gives some diversity in this regard and also makes Melee much more viable for the task at hand. By giving a new and interesting item that can be better than Last Whisper on certain champs, they've greatly increased the potentially viable diversity of both builds and characters for the DPS role. Just my 2 cents on it.
