I feel like im getting the timing down a little better but if he delays the throw he can usually bait me into a premature di attempt There's no such thing as a "premature DI attempt" Just hold the direction If you prematurely hold a direction and the opponent mixes up the throw you can be screwed. Don't let the opponent condition you into DI'ing poorly. Well, in this case, only uthrow and dthrow combo into rest, and dthrow has a century of startup time that you can react to. If you are at percents where fthrow or bthrow are gonna kill you, I don't think uthrow rest is an issue. ok the second problem is you get thrown offstage. you can't tunnel on rest even though that's most of the issue
Falco dies offstage almost immediately so you don't want to let puff do that. Not only do you prepare for the rest, you are able to hold towards the stage too (or preferably to a platform). Your % matters here as in low% it shouldn't matter too much. Everything can be predicted but you have to make it as hard for puff as you can (don't get baired, throw into aerial usually means an easy gimp on Falco)
Fthrow scales much stronger than puff's bthrow such that if you di the fthrow, you should also be DI-ing uthrow properly
if he's conditioning your DI then you gotta mix it up DI more. I know I struggle into getting randomly rested in this matchup as well

Literally any DI left or right is DI'ing puff uthrow properly so just hold a direction. Any other puff throw has enough startup frames that you can react.
It's Puff guys it's not that hard.

It's Puff guys it's not that hard. Lol, seriously. And come on. You aren't gonna get uthrow rested at like 70, and you aren't gonna get fthrown to death at 10. This isn't really a mixup situation

speaking of throws... are there any setups for marth to do uthrow and tipper fsmash on spacies other than the trivial one between 60-75ish percent? i haven't actually been able to find a completely accurate chaingrab tree. i know this thread exists but the information in it is pretty unreliable (i mean the idea of anyone getting a uthrow fsmash at 90% on a space animal is ridiculous).
specifically i'm looking for when tipper uair or sourspot uair would combo into fsmash

I really don't know enough about marth vs. spacies

Man, if only they would reopen the "General Event/LR Thread" thread.

Well, a Pikachu just got stomped 4 times in a row by a Ganon. Someone clearly doesn't like Pokemon...

Is there a tourny going on right now? If so can you post the link please.

Axe defeats West 4-4 in GF's.

Dang, am I glad my local scene is fairly strong. PM being dropped in a lot of places D:
There were actually two Vancouver tournies this weekend! A PM/Smash 4 one, then a Melee/PM/Smash 4 one the next day, hosted by the same group with different partners.
I love my scene :D

Cedstick, where was melee? The only large tournament I thought was happening this weekend was Jesse's smash 4/PM at UBC.
|
Yeah I actually just came back here to fix that. I thought the Nexus event was Melee as well, and kind of confirmed it in my mind seeing how long it ran last night. My bad! Just used to UBC events being Melee-centric, so I thought they'd do it as well.

Meh, if I had a car I would travel to events but for now I'm good with Netplay

This was run at UBC, but it was an entirely different group of people.
It ran late because the TO was new to running that sort of tournament by himself/didn't DQ some people who were holding it up.

Yeah I know, I know the guys who did it I just wasn't clear on whether Melee would be a part of it.
Also, I refuse to cheer for HungryBox. Down with Puff! But really, cool to see the TL squad grow stronger.

I'm not sure where I should take this question, but does the Curse merger mean LiquidHungrybox now?
|
Yes, LiquidHBox and LiquidChillin
