Awesome write up, I was wondering where this was but I guess it would only have been put up when it was "ready."

Interesting that zeals are so bad now There wasn't too much said about warp-in this time, that sounded to be useful, not quite as good as nydus of course though

This.

Also, you have no idea what a relief it is to close the stupid Localism, Globalism and Cultural Identity (M. Featherstone) bs and read this kind of text. Be glad you can read this ppl, it lets you use your imagination (which is usually better than the real thing..).

edit:: yes, and I'm hoping for a usable phoenix, colossus back to his sweeping laser attack and base armor of 2 for zealots :p in the next build. And next time please try out if storms are viable with smartcasting.

Very long, very good. The game examples reminded me of when I used to read battle reports, before replays were implemented.

I wants to play...

Amazing articles.

One thing i noticed, most of the balance you guys talked is negated by the time you get to the next articles, so I guess there is a decent balance in the game.

The things you agreed on were auto-mine has to go and slow unit spining or as some called it latency. I also agree with this.

Another thing is that many of you are giving MBS a decent responce and I also fully agree with this.

The main problems right now seem to be auto-mining and units turning animation.

As for balance its still early to judge!

Balance problems will mostly be solved in the beta stage.

I read everything NeoIllusions's part. The article was just THAT big :S
I'll get back to it later, but great article - although it makes me rather nervous about whether this will be a game I'll enjoy more than 6 months after its release.

A good 4-5 hours on my segment + revisions.

I had a lot to say. :>

Great reads, and watch, in Plexa's case. With such varied opinions (especially on not so controversial topics like what build is good, what unit beats which, what race is strong in that build, etc.), it feels like there are a large variety of ways to approach this game with your own style without being at a disadvantage. There's still so much more to learn and explore within the game.

My own opinions:
-the gas mechanic has a lot of potential early game, but is ignored later on
-too many animation frames/unit turning delays is a pretty big issue that I hope will be addressed
-pathfinding, army formation movement, and your own units moving to make way for a passing unit is another issue I think needs attention
-Terran was imbalanced and most powerful in this build at Blizzcon, though some units (Thor) seemed useless
-automine/mbs/infinite unit select are not deal breakers, though I'm still opposed to them
-want hotkey screens back (F2 F3 F4)
-definitely a fun game

Fun thing as a Terran: add-ons are interchangable between structures, so you can get a fast add-on for your starport/factory by building it with a barracks and lifting off. This also allows a easy transition from one tech level to another, bio to mech to air or backwards and inbetween so there's a lot more potential in different unit compositions.

Annnd much love to NeoIllusions, it was a memorable game for me as well

Wow, great article and I actually read it all. I'm very encouraged by all the different opinions, which means that maybe there's still some variety left in the game.

I still can't decide what race I'd like to pick up on when SC2 comes out haha :D

Read the whole thing

They better fix some of that stuff

The writers didn't agree on anything, Chill said the Nydus worm was unbeatable and spiral said it was going to become the scout of SC2....how is it possible to have such vastly different views

Blizzard is lucky to have a community site like TL.net. Usually they would have to pay somebody to get a review like that.

I'm sure people would gladly give their reviews for free to be able to beta test SC2. That's kind of what BlizzCon was, a 2 day beta test. Chill said we probably rounded up 60 games in 2 days but to be honest, I wouldn't be surprised if some of us played more than that.

Zerg seems to be really boring, just mass ling and/or hydras with a couple roaches? So it's sauron-zerg every game basically?

Good read for sure.

So if I understand the article correctly the main problems you see are:
1. The cooperative pathing which is often better than manual micro and makes other types of micro like opening/closing chokes unnecessary
2. Automine which simplifies getting a good eco very much
3. The artificial features like the gas mechanic which should increase macro to compensate for UI improvements.

I think that is a good overview of what was said, of course there are other things which need fixing as well. #1 especially needs to have some attention paid to it.

Also, most of you seem to agree about the turning animation being way to tardy.

Hope they fix that.
