Reading fiRe.power's posts is like reading posts I wrote. But I didn't write those. Pretty funny and strange.

Blizzard is lucky to have a community site like TL.net. Usually they would have to pay somebody to get a review like that.

I'm sure people would gladly give their reviews for free to be able to beta test SC2. That's kind of what BlizzCon was, a 2 day beta test. Chill said we probably rounded up 60 games in 2 days but to be honest, I wouldn't be surprised if some of us played more than that.

I don't think many of them, if any, would write an article like that.

I hope Blizzard could just do a Proof Of Concept on the next showcase where there is no MBS or automine... a build merely to test what the community thinks of it... perhaps noobs can still play the game and enjoy it more than other popular rts

i love the part where manually making your workers mine is 'skill', but having a gas mechanic that requires constant awareness and timing (production wise, not micro-management) is 'artificial'. lol

edit - i may be biased but i hardly found this article to be TLFE worthy.

why do u think that my statement had anything to do with pulling scvs off the gas?

that's like saying the brilliance that is found in the timing of oov's macro comes from his ability to send his workers to gather minerals.

keeping track of what your gas income rate is and when it shuts down is pretty critical when it comes to macroing isn't it? If you're not gonna collect gas until it comes back online, is that information not pertinent?

Perhaps i don't understand the mechanic well enough - i was under the impression that you stop collecting gas when it goes offline. So if you need to produce a unit that costs gas... and you're not collecting gas... hmmm... well at least the important part is puttng 3 scvs back on an worker-saturated mineral line!

ok i just read half of this stuff here.. but i am gonna give my opinion anyway. i read one of the guys saying "the macro players really gonna enjoy the MBS" or something, but this i can tell you are wrong. why ? cause now all off a sudden everyones a macro player. and the player who once had good macro has lost his advantage, and sits back as the average joe. but the idé is good, and can be used in some occasions, maby ? like rallying, rallying 8 rax here and there has always struck me as unnecessary much work.

This is an absolutely awesome bump, thanks. Makes me feel really sad that I wasn't around in these times an the whole SC2 beta, it must have been a peculiar adventure. Or maybe it is a good thing because I would be so annoyed by all the guys that rambled about how bad MBS is to no end and gotten banned ...

Is it possible to somewhere see the parameters of the build that is discussed here? I wonder what could have been so wrong with the Colossus that it was considered useless!

Gas Mechanic

The new gas mechanic is gross. Chill has a rather open mind about it, but again I find it forced. If automine is removed, this stupid attempt to make macro harder (ironically after simplifying it) can be removed. How is having a geyser shut down every few minutes while making an extremely annoying beeping interesting or beneficial at all? In the late game, when there are 6-8 gasses mining and 60+ scvs mining, why would anyone be bothered to move 3 scvs at the shutdown geyser to minerals? There is little advantage to be gained from mastering this mechanic, and thus little potential to add to the game beyond annoying players.

To address those that find manual mining tedious: I find manual mining necessary because proficiency at this skill alone can create a huge skill gradient. I don't find another explanation necessary, nor I am well versed enough in the argument on this topic to elaborate.

Was this really a thing at some point?

Hahahha, yes it was. The geysirs just shut down every couple of minutes and your SCV would idle there.

Have you considered the MMO-Champion forum? You are just as irrational and delusional with the right portion of nostalgic populism. By the way: The old Brood War was absolutely unplayable
