Welcome to the Zenio Fan Club!! ZENIOOOO HWAAAAITINNGGGGG!!
UPDATE:
Zenio withstood imba hellbat drops and lots of bio-tank pressure from Cute, then turned it around and crushed the Team Eight terran to give EG-TL a 1-0 advantage in Proleague! Awesome game!
Name: Zenio - 최정민 (Choi Jung Min) Race: Zerg Team History: Team Liquid (previously WeRRa, oGs)
Introduction
As of November 21, 2011, Zenio is officially a part of Team Liquid! Zenio has been a part of oGs for quite some time and was a big monster since the beta. His best GSL finish was going to the round of 8 for the 2010 Sony Ericsson Starcraft II Open Season 2, beating the likes of Jjakji (2011 GSL November Champion), MVP (3-time GSL Champion, 2011 Blizzcon Champion and 2011 MLG Anaheim Champion), and Idra (does Greg really need introductions?) in his solid run before falling to Nestea (3-time GSL Champion).
He hanged around a lot in the previous Code S seasons but was never able to get past the round of 16. Zenio will be looking to create better results as he is now a part of Team Liquid, which allows him to practice the way he is comfortable with.
Upcoming games
Schedule coming soon. ^____^

Been a fan of Zenio when I watched him play every week in the NASL Season 1. I watched a lot of this games since and I'm very happy that he was quickly picked up by Liquid after his departure with oGs. Will be cheering really hard for Zenio!
I became a fan of Zenio when I watched him in one of those FXOpen Invitationals. Despite his unremarkable winning percentage, Zenio's ZvT and ZvZ have always been fun to watch.
I'm glad Zenio is on TL now because despite being around for so long he hasn't had much of a chance to show his skills outside of Korea. I know a lot of people are skeptical about his current form but remember that Hero wasn't much when he joined either and now he's the 2nd most popular Korean protoss behind MC.
You may want to add the replay pack in the news post to the OP.
Looking forward to learn awesome things from you! gl in getting your practice skill out to the tournaments!
Also: does he have a TL account? would be cool with a link to a teamliquid search for his username in the OP. Like this search link, only that the username liquid'zenio doesnt seem to exist. :/
Great to see TL signing zenio, one of my long time favourite zergs, ever since i did some background on him when i wrote a battle report of him against boxer in the nasl.
I think i'll do another one on him now as a celebration of him joining Liquid, anyone know any good games of his i can do that are quite recent?
The link to the previous one is here if anyone wants to see it or you want to put it in the OP.

If they meet in the up-and-down or hopefully in Code S, I will be sooooooo darn happy.
By the way, I always thought his ID was supposed to be pronounced "Genio" (similarly to how Koreans pronounce Zerg). Can somebody who knows Korean explain why this isn't the case?
On November 23 2011 07:16 Talin wrote: By the way, I always thought his ID was supposed to be pronounced "Genio" (similarly to how Koreans pronounce Zerg). Can somebody who knows Korean explain why this isn't the case?
It's because the Korean alphabet does that have a 'Z' sound. Their 'Z' is interpreted to this > ㅈ, which is the sound for 'J'. So if you spell Zenio in Korean, it will be > 제니오 je-ni-o. Also like Ganzi. Instead of being pronounced as gan-zee, it is spell like this in Korean 간지, which is pronounced as gan-ji. Hope this helps. ^___^
I can't wait to see him going to international events. I really hope he will be able to manage his stage fear and claim the place that is rightfully his at the top.
LiquidZenio Choi Jung Min why so many foreigners says 'Fighting'? Go, Zenio!!! this is right. more study to english plz~~~
OMG LOL
hahahaha, that's baller. gotta love him.
but as a linguist, I also find it really really interesting from a sociolinguistic perspective. the sociologist in me also finds cool stuff in that comment.
You can talk about languages as having a prestige variable. Some languages or dialects are perceived to be more prestigious than others in a specific domain, and this correlates with the relative socioeconomic / political power of people who speak that language. States often have language policies that reinforce this and it becomes socially ingrained to the point where if people speak a particular way, they are judged on their socioeconomic status, and why you only hear certain regional dialects on the news--> what we call 'standard English' is just a variety of English... anyways.
English is generally regarded to have a higher prestige status than a lot of other languages due to notions of global capital, what determines success etc. People see it (usually erroneously) as a gateway to success.
In the starcraft community, Korea is the mecca of skill/culture, and as a result korean starcraft terms have prestige because they are associated with a specific type of 'prestige': access to the traditional cultural center of starcraft.
We say 'fighting' or 'hwaiting' as a result of this-- the term arose in korea and it encodes a particular idea, and people use the term outside of korea due to the 'prestige' associated with it. (prestige is more a technical term, its not completely apt though).
Zenio says 'why the hell are you guys saying hwaiting, it should be 'go zenio' -- for similar but opposite reasons.

Don't worry, I will add more VODs/cuts of Zenio, let me just scour the internet for them. For now, it will there. Better to have something than nothing right?

Hard luck Zenio MKP played two sick games with totally different strategies. I think Zenio was caught a bit off guard by them since MKP usually plays a mass infantry style.

The introduction is incorrect. I think its supposed to be the 2nd GSL season because in season 1 idra lost to a protoss I think. Plus Nestea had lost round 1. The idra/zenio match happened in the 2nd open season.

9 more days and we get to see how Zenio will fare against his opponents for his GSL group. GO ZENIO!
Edit: I just noticed that the NASL Zenio backhand slap GIF was fail. It has Moon's name instead of Zenio. NASL fail. ><

Even more than TLO's beard???
You definitely have the potential to be a code S champ this year Zenio!
Apparently Zenio agreed to have the pivotal game 3 of his series against NightEnd replayed as there was a huge lag in several engagements during the game which was ultimately won by Zenio. linku.
I'm extremely impressed. Mad props to Zenio.
edit: This official article doesn't make it look like he had that big of a choice; he only could have chosen between a regame of set 3 or a repetition of the whole series. In this case nvm.
edit: They'll play a Bo5, starting with a score of 2:1 in favor of Zenio.
ehh i mentioned it in the IEM thread, i think they should just continue to a bo5 and have the score 2:1 Zenio. what exactly did he get to choose? bo1 or new bo3? i hope he gets map pick at least o.o
Haven't missed a broadcasted Zenio game for IEM Kiev yet, and I must say I'm proud of what Zenio is displaying. Losing to a beast like Kas isn't so bad, and I hope he crushes Naniwa tomorrow... although I must admit it's going to be very difficult. But I'll cheer you on!!
edit: Also, I must say that I'm proud of Zenio for playing that extended best of 5 series. He didn't want any doubt on the victory he eventually secured.

They have a sort of rivalry because they met something like 8 times in a row on ladder and they were both streaming, it was funny to see them (trash)talk to each other friendly
nice job Zenio, is this Zenio 2nd international event? First NASL and this? Even if he loses in semis i think he had a great run for a second international event

넌 좋 게임을 보여줬고. 영어로 감사합니다. 저 넌 반커릅 방문하는 것 또 바라요. [You've shown good games. Thanks for the English. I hope you will visit your fanclub again.]
Sign me up, his ZvP against JYP in NASTL was quite awesome to see (even though JYP played somewhat... off) especially since Day[9] recently did a daily on that very style.
Although if people start doing that, I'll probably have an even worse PvZ win rate than I do now, and it's not a very good one. Oh well :D
I love that Liquid puts a lot of - equal - focus on all their players. Each member has shown great performances at one point on the team. We've seen HerO's rise since joining Liquid. I hope to see the same for Zenio in the near future.
On March 06 2012 07:29 Affluenza wrote: Why did he ignore/diss InControl?
Was just a simple misunderstanding (as stated by Zenio and Incontrol afterwards). You can't really see it, but Sen was waving with his hands inside the booth and Zenio just turned around to him, before seeing the attempted handshake. It happened just randomly and wasn't planned.
On March 09 2012 04:48 Shichoo wrote: Redemption time! Beat MMA! 3-2 Zenio go go go!
Dis Third time I play him, but this tournament map pool not bad, Zenio 3 MMA Gero. Really good games vs Supernova, sad to see two of my favorites at the tourney have to play but I was rooting for you Zenio! Also loved the interview in English, which is what I quoted earlier!
Well played Zenio! I don't know if it's just me, but Zenio looks like a much better player recently. All three the games vs MMA were good. Hopefully Zenio can take revenge in the GSL
Tough group, but I think that Zenio can make it. He might lose the first match against MKP, but the ZvZ weak July (which is Zenios strongest match-up by statistic) should be possible, also aLive has revealed weakness in his TvZ, losing to SlayerS_Miya in EGMC and against viOLet in MLG.
I think yesterday was a good sign: a Prime player and a Liquid player advanced. I think that the same will happen in todays group!
GL Zenio, I will dedicade all my positive thoughts to you, just like I did it for HerO. Looking forward to see your awesome play again <3
hey sign me up! I really think zenio can come out of this group. It is pretty stacked but he is such a hard worker and insainly talented to boot. To be honest, my opinion of him went way up when i watched him play MMA at IEM. Even though he lost 3-0 he had some RIDICULOUS play and MMA said he can play even better then that ^^
wow, how did he come back after losing his expansion to the bunker rush in game 3 vs alive? :o I thought that was only possible if the Terran screwed up, but I don't see what alive did so horribly wrong... Can someone enlighten me?

Congratulations and gl vs July! gogogo!
Alive pulled a lot of SCVs and lost some while retreating and Zenio kept alive's CC in his main with lings for a pretty long time. Instead of losing some lings, he built up a force, crushed the bunker rush > kept alive in his main while droning immensely behind it.
He was behind but not that much. Alive committed a lot to it.
edit: Zenio showed great form today, sad it wasn't enough. I think July surprised everyone though.
So close ~_~ July really stepped up his game, but still one (ZvZ) game away from Ro16. So close TT. But no worries Zenio, we will continue to cheer for you. You will tear through Code A again for a shot at the next season. Looking forward to see you play in Code A and at IPL 4!
I'm wondering the practice situation for Zenio right now and come to his fan page to learn more about it? Since he left oGs is he still living in the oGs house or is he living at home? If living at home, is it with his parents or wife/girlfriend? Thanks!
man how long will zenio show poor performances. game 1 vs bomber, got trolled by 1 marine fake bunker rush. count the number of scvs mining man so u can tell no 2nd hidden rax.
i bet zenio is happy being on tl and privileged on the dole poor performance. and getting his ass carried.

whoa whoa whoa. yeah, he didn't look sharp, but its easy to make those mistakes in pressure situations. bomber is a great player, there's no shame in losing to him. he also has a chance to redeem himself in U&D

Losing to bomber is no shame and you don't get to shit-talk Zenio on his fan club, go away please.
Bomber is so strong! One of the strongest opponents in the round, and there is no shame in losing to such a strong opponent! Zenio can win in the Up/Downs no problem!

I was flicking through the streams, I came across IGN proleague. I didn't care about the league, I was gonna move along, but then I saw : Liquid`Zenio . I support Zenio in any league, because he's on Liquid. Hell yea, it was great to pick him up, ya did a good thing, and I support Liquid/Zenio!
Damn, good games today. I didn't get to see the games against stephano, but the results speak for themselves. 7-0 in tourney games is pretty damn swell for one day if you ask me. Keep up the good hard work, Zenio fighting!
Unlucky situation, this is really sad. But don't worry Zenio we'll cheer extra hard for you next season and then you will be back in Code S faster than we can look ^____^
I'm watching Zenio vs Galaxy right now, its making me very sad. You'll get them next time Zenio! Keep up the hardwork, the result will follow through soon enough Zenio fighting!
Awesome games on stream today. So scrappy, but super solid late game. Great to watch. Can't speak highly enough of how efficiently those games prevented me from studying.
Just tuned into his stream for the first time in a long time, and I must say he really made an effort to learn English, and his play is nice to watch, certainly not your run of the mill turtle Z. Would love to see him at an event again soon (he seemed quite depressed as well, poor guy). <3 Zenio, <3 Liquid
good luck zenio! i believe that we are going to see all of liquid in code A this season. and next you, sea, TLO, hero, and Taeja are all going to be in the top 8 of Code S!
Nice work getting thourgh open bracket (I know anything else would be really upsetting). Hopefully he can finally put up good LAN-results again. His games are always so fun to watch.

He's streaming, and he's confirmed to be in EG-TL vs. KT Rolster on Saturday.
And he will be up against Flash, would be sick to see him win. Sadly he is the only Liquid player in the line-up but I hope he can impress against KT's ace.
Zenio seems to be talking about equipment malfunctions during his matches today (Screen turning off, keyboard non-responsive for 10 seconds during his matches today and couldn't type "pp" etc.) - This is from google translating his tweets to TaeJa and are probably not accurate. Does anyone know what he's talking about?
Really sad to see him fall like this - especially if there were any forms of PC-issues involved!
Anyone know if Zenio is still active with Liquid? I miss his plays Will Liquid be getting a new member soon? Liquid hasn't had a new person in a while (and keep Zenio)!

Yeah, Nazgul said something about Zenio wanting to just work on practice... he still pops up in the ATC every so often... I wish we could see more of him though
It's OK, Zenio. While good results are always the goal, if there's one tournament where it's not so bad to go out early it's homestory. Have a good time, cast a match if you can (I know you were working on your english before, show us how you're doing!) and just enjoy yourself. No shame in how you played, so make the most of the situation by having a great time!

Anyone spot Zenio in any of the WCS qualifiers? I looked around WCS AM because I know he tried to qualify there last season, but he's no where to be found this season. Did he attempt to qualify for GSL?
Not that I`m aware of. Honestly, I think Zenio will officially retire within the next weeks. I don`t believe that he is in some sort of underground gosu-mode. No twitter, no stream, no tournament participations etc. so basically there is nothing that seems to indicate his motivation to change things. Could we maybe get an official statement from Bumblebee/Nazgul about the situation?
Good luck for the future Zenio! Really sad to see you retire. Do me one favor: never ever think that you doesn`t deserve any kind of attention from the fans - you do! You DESERVE it. You did great. Be proud of yourself and what you archieved during those last three years!
