I can't wait for the Korean charts to have things on there other than kidols/ballads/indie "bands" featuring an acoustic guitar and a gentle male/female singer. I'd love if more diverse shit got popular.
I also don't think that idols are declining, more like companies are realizing that debuting 100s of idol groups in a year can't possibly sustain itself so the bubble is bursting and all but the most popular groups are disbanding.

Like I said wait for shit to sort themselves out.
You're also neglecting to mention companies that are doing well DSP (although I will admit this may not "really" count, it's not really cause of kpop but because of KARA in Japan) Cube, not to mention that the number of companies has increased since the "boom"- TS, etc. Just because SM hasn't done shit in terms of popularity for new groups after SJ (waiting a year for EXO with that fanbase, really?), JYP fucked up the Wonder Girls (even if you have them do nothing instead of going to America they make it out ok, but no 2pm comeback for what, 2 years? No followup hit for Miss A after how big BGGG was?) doesn't mean everyone's fucked up. If anything I think it's a good thing for kpop, it's not about 3 companies anymore, it's about those 3 plus several other smaller companies.
Kpop star winners got signed by major companies, I wouldn't call anyone coming out of Superstar K a huge success. edit- misread your sentence on this, nvm
Like I said if it's not idol music it's ballads and acoustic indie. That's not "new", and just because you want it doesn't mean that it's the new "trend".

That could easily be reversed because you're talking about music, which is subjective to the person, there is no one way to listen to music, and other people enjoy the pop over ballads. Personally I'm a fan of ballads and indie music, and my playlist is largely that, when I try to get people to listen to ballads they call it boring. I don't see why it matters to you anyways, the idol industry is thriving and especially with the Korean wave still going strong, I don't see it going away anytime soon. Even if they are down profits compared to last quarter, they are still doing well.
I recommend NOEL, their ballad songs, not their crappy RnB, to people all the time and most of them don't really like it. Same with Urban Zakapa and Busker Busker.
edit: Honestly, I don't get people like you. Why do you have to go and flame things you don't like, just enjoy your damn music and if you love it spread it around, don't dumb other crap down.

It's not that I want one over the other I'm merely pointing out that your assertion that idols are in decline is false.
That being said while ballads or whatever you claim to like more are different from kpop, it's not like they're that different from each other anyway. Korean music in general lacks a lot of diversity in sound, at least at the top/chart tier (don't know enough about K-indie, as in popularity and not as in musical sound, to say for less popular groups)

First question is what's with your capitalization? 2ndly, who doesn't like hot Korean girls dancing around and singing about cute shit? Seriously, does any country do it as well as Korea? If I want to listen to more complex lyrically driven songs, I'll listen to it in my native tongue.

actually I'm pretty sure SME has been doing relatively well, snsd is literally singlehandedly carrying that company. their other divisions are operating at a loss so it reflects heavily on their earnings. JYPE is still saddled with groups on random long hiatuses, and after investing so much into WG with their American adventure, it's not really a clear indication of the company flopping.
Also Jo Yong Pil has been in the music industry for ages.
Pretty much shows how much you know and how little weight your critique of the industry holds.
As much as I like 'indie' (underground is a more apt term) artists getting attention, I like my mainstream to stay mainstream. Both groups of music serve their own individual purposes.

i doubt any of us contribute anything more than youtube views on music videos.
To a certain extent; they wouldn't partner with the Korean tourism industry if they didn't.
And while western (NA/EU) foreigners don't matter as much Kpop pulls in a lot of revenue from the rest of Asia; not just Japan but also Thailand/Vietnam/Indonesia etc.
