Hey guys, hoping you could help me find a long lost anime. My girlfriend says she remembers watching an anime movie many years ago with a child who is a painter, and then he dies and the girl that was his friend becomes a nun. I know it isn't much to go off of, but do you guys have any leads?

I don't have any leads but I don't think people with girlfriends are allowed to post in here...

Anyone who can endure endless eight is the true masochist.
I waited for it to all come out then marathoned it all in one go. >.<
Why would you do that? I actually found out about the 2nd season heaps late so I just watched the 1st, 7th and 8th episodes.
I heard that the light novels for Bakemonogatari actually finish in Sept this year. I hope they end up animating the rest of the series after they release Kizumonogatari.

With nise anime announced, that makes the first 5 books and the original series finished. Now to see if they intend on animating part 2, which is a pretty significant investment if done without proper storyboarding to consolidate books.

so it ends up being like an anime Saya version of Shutter Island. loosely speaking. Kinda saved it a bit. Still though got dragged on way to much with the monster munching.

yes but based off what Ecael said, it seems Kizu+Bake+Nise = "part 1."
Overall felt like the entire series was just whatever the writers felt like each week and then realized they needed to explain what was going on. I don't feel that it was saved unless Saya kills everyone with no censoring.

I assumed everyone knows that Kizu has a theatrical release coming up.
Bake, Kizu and Nise were originally going to be all of the monogatari series. Nishio Ishin only decided to write more after the smashing success of all of the books and the anime. Technically Nekomonogatari Kuro could be considered a part of this "first part", but everything after that is a part of what one could consider a second season of the monogatari series where the narrator changes from Araragi to whoever the vol is about.
Last 2 books huge pressure, lol, Shinobu and Gahara-san narration respectively.
Yea Gahara-san hasnt gotten alot of love recently I heard. I believe the second part starts Neko-Shiro onwards.

That having been said what are your thoughts on the second part so far. is it really as good and worth animation? I really wish I could read them instead of hearing second hand spoilers.

Well in terms of what Nishio Ishin intended to write, Neko kuro would be the first of what he originally didn't intend to write. In terms of timeline, Neko kuro falls under the Kizu->Nise time period. In terms of style, it also fits under that. Whether we should call it part 1 or 2 is beyond me, but I guess all the important things place it at part 1.
She doesn't need time to own, but yeah. got a cameo in Neko kuro, main focus in neko shiro after Hanekawa, barely mentioned in Kabuki, had two lines in Hana, owned Otori between her and Tsukihi, and probably won't get mentioned in Oni. I guess time wise she doesn't get much, presence wise she makes herself felt, lines or not.

As for whether part 2 is worth animating, well...hmm. It'd be hit and miss. The two nekomonogatari were great. Hanamonogatari was a nice change of pace even if it turned almost into Nasu. Kabuki and Otorimonogatari both had their moments too. Not to mention the trollful troll that was Neko shiro->Kabuki->Hana. I guess at the point where they animate Nise, they might as well as work on part 2. It is just that part 2 will be difficult to animate because of the whole changing narrator thing. Essentially we get something paced like Nise and Kizu, but can't get mashed together quite as well because of narration perspective. If they are willing to try to overcome that barrier, I feel like the stories are definitely worth animation.

Man haven't had one like this since Parfait 2
Uta's thoughts yesterday about that is basically: "Looks like normal romance, boring, not gonna bother"
Mine goes like: "I'll download it since I see pretty art, forget that it exists and delete 6 months later to make space"
