Who said they're different goals? He wants to become the pirate king. Beating everyone else that is powerful enough to be a contender would make sense.

do you actually think Luffy will get to raftel without facing admirals, blackbeard, big mum and kaido? maybe he won't defeat them all.. i'm ok with that but he won't get there without facing admirals, shanks and BB
he probably will fight alot of strong people but its not like hell ever go out of his way to fight them

I like how Sabo shows up, trashes literally everyone in the coliseum, gets the fruit, and is all chillaxin' towards the vice admiral like, "yeah, I just roflstomped your mooks, you wanna come out and play now, old man?"
Also, the fact he's had the fruit for literally 5 minutes and is just casually a master of it shows just how powerful Sabo is, and why Luffy is ok with him getting it (besides the whole 'brother-in-arms' thing).
