Not saying that he shouldn't take a break to recover from surgery, but what do you mean with "works himself to death"? Isn't he pretty much doing the same pensum as any other mangaka in a weekly magazine?

I don't know how much other shounen artists work, but Oda supposedly sleeps 3 hours a day and works 6days/week. And while this might sound biased, comparing the shitfest of empty panels Kubo draws for Bleach or even Kishi's "hard to tell what the hell's actually going on" with the gorgeous double spreads Oda delivers week after week, I'd actually have to say that they probably don't work as much as he does BUT it doesn't mean they aren't working hard.

Yeah, I kind of feel that Oda puts more work into his manga aswell. No, I haven't gone over there and measured it, but I wouldn't be surpised if it were true (that he works more. On the actual hours - I have no clue. Although Japanese people are known to overwork themselves from time to time)

No Oda's is taking a break due to health issues. He can rest half a year (plz no).
Also i have a weird assumption that Oda isn't actually overworking himself yes he has done a great job but i think why he is sleeping 3 hours a day is because he wants to. I kinda get the feeling of not wanting to sleep.

technically oda can just stop drawing any day and announce that he is retired, the dude doesn't have financial problem to live through 7 life times.

Wow . . . 3 hours . . .
I need 9 hours . . .

I'd like to think that Oda has the willpower to finish one piece before he dies. It would be romantic if he releasedthe final chapters on his death bed.

The scary thing is that if you consider it took us 17 years to get where we are now, it might take atleast 10 more!
Because Luffy will have to reach Raftel but before he still has to defeat all the yonkous plus marines and change the world.. we are in for a long long ride..

Basically most in the marines joined the marines for justice and equality.
I don't think Oda is cruel enough to rape the good guys.

I'm still reading up on the chapters (I'm at like ch. 450) but it certainly seems like they're setting it up that the people in the WG know (if not are) what happened during the "Void Century" and are executing a long game of wanting to exterminate whatever remnants of the things they fought/killed in the past. Most of the Marines seem fine, if not a bit inept (or dumb), it's just that the WG people have moved most of the actual evil people into positions of power with very small pockets of good people in seats of established power (Luffy's grandfather as an example).
The "Legacy of D" almost certainly has something to do with it, as like 95% of the people with D as their middle name are good-hearted, very strong warriors and a ton of stamina.

That's your opinion..
For me Luffy will have a say in everything since he is the main character, plus son of Dragon the main guy in the revolutionaries and grandson of Garp the marine's heroe.
If Oda writes a story since 1997 that will take atleast 5 more years and in the end all Luffy does is become Pirate King it will be underwhelming atleast for me.
Luffy will change the world, because he allready did, he brought down Ennies Lobby, brought down countless "bad" rulers (DD will be the next victim) !

I don't think Luffy has to defeat all 4 Youkou anymore than he has to beat all 7 Shichibukai.

Except he literally said that was his plan when talking to Law.
