Which wasn't in the manga, period, but was an great scene in the anime. And I'm not defending the entire anime here, but that scene was great, as are many other like it. If Forik is going to complain about a little slow-mo there, I can't imagine what he would say about the end of the Lucci or Crocodile fight.
theres nothing wrong with slo mo used right, but not right at the start where the tension is supposed to be built up
the start of a fight should be both fighters barreling at each other like bullets from a gun with a huge clash of fist on fist which sets the whole mood for the entire fight no good fight starts with slo mo its just a let down
The slow mo for Luffy vs Chinjao was a good use for it it was a big moment that didn't get enough attention in the manga where both fighters were able to demonstrate their strength of will. The slow mo allowed you to appreciate everyone's reaction to something amazing while in the manga it's just two pages after the punch. Plus even if the punch hadn't been slow mo there would still be a lot of cut away from the fight just like in the manga where they focused on Sanji/Kinemon, Usopp/Robin and Franky/Toy Soldier. Then even if they had focused on just that fight we still haven't heard Chinjao's full back story with Garp.

it got the perfect attention both of rushing straight at each other KOing 2 people in there way easily to unleash a punch that shakes the arena
it doesnt have to be drawn out it loses its badassness that way its way more real and exiting then them taking 40 second of just running at each other

Forik did you even watch the video
ya i did it took a full minute before they even threw the punch (completely obliterating the feel the manga went to such lengths to create) then they both start grunting like its a DBZ beam struggle
the Manga made it seem so badass like it was an actually intense battle royal
and waht was with chinjaos stupid potato sack running style?
They square off, start charging each other, both of them smack aside Sai and Ideo on their way (which got cut from the clip), people are shitting their pants, they rear back, punch each other, and practically blow up the arena with their haki. If you can't appreciate that despite it taking longer than the 10 seconds it took you to read two pages of that in the manga, then I feel sorry for you and your attention span.

that scene is only badass because of the speed the whole collesium was awesom because of the heated battle royal, and them jsut knocking 2 powerful fighters away then the clash
if you slow it down and take such an absurd amount of time then it loses all that heat that was so painstakingly built up and it becomes soemthing youd see in bleach

They weren't just running at each other. First they powered up then ran at each other while at the same time knocking Sai and Ideo aside before the punch. Between showing Luffy and Chinjao they showed the spectators anticipation for the clash which was filler, but not bad in this instance because spectators would be on the edge of their seat before the punch. The video cut the part where they knocked Sai and Ideo out of the ring.
The collesium was still a heated battle royal, and they still knocked Ideo and Sai out of the way. It just got cut from the clip. It doesn't lose any heat, it just builds intensity for the clash of will between Conqueror's Haki.

theres a full minute of absolutely nothing heated happening at all, and you expect me to believe there was possibly any heat left?
There is a full minute of them squaring off, charging each other, knocking Sai and Ideo out of the ring, and spectators freaking out at the awesomeness of it. If that's too slow for you, then like I said, I feel sorry for your attention span.

it has nothing to do with attention span its not a heated battle if they take 5 minutes to throw each punch
Well there isn't much left to say if it all comes down to feelings, but I do think you are in the minority opinion for this particular scene even for those who don't like the anime. So we can take a vote. This video has no edits during the fight, but it doesn't show them powering up.

I am not an anime watcher, but I have been watching some on the extended manga break.
My two cents. I like the clip above, it is very well done. I also think that their is too much slo-mo. Scenes drag on too long with people staring or running. I think they could've made the Colosseum Battles way more epic in the anime by, essentially, adding filler. Show other fighters, show their techniques, etc. That would have added depth to the story and wouldn't have taken away from the manga.
BUT, the worst part of the anime (at least last couple episodes) is the huuuuuggggee intros. Seriously they recap what happened in the previous episode for 8+ minutes in the latest anime. That is super frustrating (altho next week if I watch it I am just going to ff it).

I am ok with the slow mo when their fists meet. The moment when their strengths clash head is tense and might deserve to be focused on.
What is not ok is how they took 50 seconds to reach each other. They are both fast fighters and the arena is maybe about 50 yards/meters in diameter. If you stroll leisurely(with ~3 kmh or ~2 mph), you can do 25 meters in 30 seconds. If both Chinjao and Luffy were supposedly sprinting than they must have started over 250 meters/yards apart from each other. Also emitting energy waves for 30 seconds with kamehameha sound effects and an explosion afterwards seems really odd for one piece.
