![]() An uptight FBI Special Agent is paired with a foul-mouthed Boston cop to take down a ruthless drug lord. So, I actually found this movie funny. I think the witty remarks was well-made. Its been ages since I've seen a Sandra bullock movie, and I thought hey why not. Its actually surprised me a little. The movie is kinda a cliché type movie. Like the classic white cop/black cop with different social backgrounds have to find a way to work together. But it doesn't really matter. I felt it delivered. 6/10 The Next Three Days ![]() A married couple's life is turned upside down when the wife is accused of a murder. To me Russell Crowe is a pretty solid actor, with many sets of tools he can work with. He was great in Master and commander, A Beautiful Mind, gladiator etc. But I felt that this movie might be one of his weakest. The movie wasn't bad, his character was just better in the other movies, and you could feel them through the screen. But still an enjoyable movie. 5/10 Star Trek: into Darkness ![]() After the crew of the Enterprise find an unstoppable force of terror from within their own organization, Captain Kirk leads a manhunt to a war-zone world to capture a one man weapon of mass destruction. I'm not really a fan of star trek. I have enjoyed watching several different episodes of the different series there were, and most of the old movies. But never really considered myself a fan of the "Trek". With that being said Im still happy that New star trek movies are being made. I'm a huge fan of sci-fi movies, so I enjoy these movies even though they can be pretty silly at times. Oh the lens flares, so many lens flares. If you liked the first one, I'm sure you will like this one. I just wish there would be less world destruction type events, and more deep space explorations. But I know this series will keep doing its action theme for a long time to come, but its not bad made though 5/10 Man of steel ![]() A young itinerant worker is forced to confront his secret extraterrestrial heritage when Earth is invaded by members of his race. I had sooo high hopes for this movie. The other superman movies were, well, lets just say they weren't grade A material, heck not even grade B. When I first saw the trailer it looked so dramatic. I had really hoped for a deep origin story, and not another wolverine action movie, staring comic book heroes. But, its still the best damn superman movie I've seen. Henry Cavill was great. The director did a good job, mixing the background story, with present time. It was well made and didn't feel rushed. Sometimes movies like these can rush the characters so they can get straight into the action, but I felt this movie had the right pacing. It didn't feel cheesy as some could fear from a origin story about a freedom loving alien. 7/10

But I would really think a film featuring Lenin and Bogdanov's split, Stalin waiting in the wings, Trotsky's leadership, the two revolutions has so much potential.

I'd just hope that the sci-fi writers weren't so limited to world wars, saving the world and apocalyptic scenarios. One would have thought that something like Blade Runner would have made scenarists understand that sci-fi can be used only as a setting and it doesn't necessarily mean that it should define the whole plot. Blade Runner being your good old noir detective movie put into a sci-fi universe. And that's why its so cool. Or even Star Wars, if you look at it the universe created is only the setting of the movie, it doesn't define the plot (which is basicly a plot more than used in Heroic Fantasy). So, hollywood, where are my detective movies, serial killer movies, love stories etc but in space ? At least we had a couple of horror and comedies ![]()

Anything rooted in PKD kind of fits the bill, Blade Runner has been mentioned already but A Scanner Darkly is kind of dystopian as well. Would highly recommend reading the PKD books before checking out the movie adaptations, there are a ton btw. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_adaptations_of_works_by_Philip_K._Dick I actually didn't know they made a film of Radio Free Albemuth, but that would be an interesting one to see. Looks like an indie production, but the Alanis Morrisette casting may make it seem rather straight to DVDish.

![]() After the success of this summer's horror movie, "The Conjuring", many were skeptical whether or not James Wan can deliver two back to back hit horror movies in the same year. Whether or not you think so is up to the viewer. I personally loved The Conjuring, which I typed a mini review in this thread a while back. Sure, it was nothing we haven't seen before, but the way the movie was executed was superb. People can criticize it all they want, but the financial and critical success does not lie. Insidious: Chapter 2 literally picks up where the first movie left off, which was expected because of how the first movie left at a cliff hanger. The Lambert family is still experiencing a haunting, but by a different entity this time around. The way Chapter 2 connects to the first movie was great. It expanded more on the entity that has been following Josh (Patrick Wilson) since he was a child. They also gave good character development for practically all the characters, which is always welcomed. To keep it short, the sequel is one big mystery that the characters have to solve before it is too late. This movie feels like a small adventure in a sense because of how far back into history they had to search. The acting this time around has definitely improved, especially Rose Byrne. Patrick Wilson's performance is much different than the first movie. He plays a dual personality character, if you will (you will definitely see an homage from a classic horror movie). Some despised Whannell's and Sampson's characters in the first movie, so if you liked the first movie, but didn't enjoy those two, then you'll have to deal with it. Their characters had more comic relief this time around., whether or not that is good or bad. The scares in this movie were fewer than the first, but were effective and meaningful. Chapter 2 had more emphasis on story, which was quite interesting. Very few horror movies are based off of astral projection, but the sequel manages to keep some things fresh for the viewer. I would consider this movie to have more creepy and eerie moments than moments where you are too scared to watch what is happening. Overall, Insidious: Chapter 2 is a good time that almost any horror fan will enjoy. This year in horror movies is definitely better than what we have been getting lately. In small related news, James Wan has stated that he is leaving the horror genre. It is not confirmed if 100% done or just taking a break. The man has been working on horror movies for nearly a decade and is now directing the upcoming Fast and Furious 7. There is a sequel to The Conjuring in the works along with Leigh Whannell writing Insidious: Chapter 3. This may be unsettling for some because this will require a new visionary instead of Wan. Final score for Insidious: Chapter 2 is a 7.5/10

I liked it. Pretty nifty of them to show you the naked asses and tits of all the girls involved early in the film so you can get over it and focus on other things ![]() This is the End ... of cinema. 0/10, I have no idea how they even got their funding.

![]() Star Trek : Nemesis As this screenplay is written for the fans before the general audience it's intimate but only a percentage as sad as the culmination of the "All Good Things..." season 7 finale of Star Trek : The Next Generation.

"Sure as day follows night, sure as eggs is eggs, sure as every odd-numbered Star Trek movie is shit."- Tim Beasley, Spaced, as played by Simon Pegg. Nemesis is actually considered to be the even number that should be odd by some. I really just wanted an excuse to use that quote from Spaced, I should revisit it as I make my way through TNG again.

Devil's Pass. The Dyatlov incident is a big (and real) mystery oh the late century and there was potential for an intriguing movie. Sadly it sucks due to using all the clichés criticized by a cabin in the woods and then doing a final which is just wtf. Worth a 3 at best.

What is the most VISUALLY amazing movie you have seen? What movie has the BEST music ever? Also, always looking for more Sci-Fi to watch. I don't mind "action oriented sci-fi", say like Star Trek (the new ones), but it doesn't feel sci-fi at all. More like action movie featuring cool devices

Second I'm tempted to say Once upon a time in the West. Morricone uber alles.
