By the way, isn't it a bit silly for the religion guy that follows the boy to the Wild Fire to be THIS incapacited by a SINGLE knife hit ? Dude had his whole legs paralyzed from a little kitchen knife in the hips ? Seriously ? There is a disclaimer in the books that the timelines for each character's chapters don't necessarily line up. I think the writers have also adopted that into the show. The pace of the plot has sped up so much, and I wouldn't be surprised if months were passing by between and within each episode. I think we were all so used to watching characters develop on slower journeys in the previous seasons, and now they're jumping from location to location for the sake of plot. While I'm grateful that all the storylines are now finally converging to an epic ending, I hope HBO doesn't rush it all. I have bad memories of HBO's Rome, which rushed through so much history in its second season since HBO wouldn't renew for any more seasons.
I think that it will come together now. You have to go through this transition of having a very focused beginning, which creates a lot of chaos, but to connect it all together, you have to remove a bit of the complexity to bring it back all together. I think that season 5 and 6 were exactly that, and now season 7 and season 8 will be very focused.
All the story lines have been brought together, all we really have left now is:
-White Walkers -The North (Petyr, Jon, Sansa, Arya, Freefolk, etc) -Daenerys (Dorne, Tyrells, Yara + Theon, Tyrion, etc) -Cersei and Jamie -Bran -Euron -Sam
We have a clear direction, and it's about solving the conflict now instead of creating more of it.

A small point, but I guess Ser Ilyn Payne has been completely forgotten. I don't remember him being mentioned in Arya's repetition of names in front of the House of White and Black.

Cool episode, with great staging. I like that they finally decided to narrow down the number of main characters/storylines, though I can't help but feel that this was done rather inelegantly. Overall I feel this season suffered from bad rhythm, with some moments being rushed and others being unnecessarily stretched out.

Finally the name of the capital makes sense!

How exactly am I supposed to believe Cersei has ANY chance at winning a war against them?
honestly want to know because as best it stands even if she somehow has the full pre war of 5 kings size army that is only 70k soldiers and thats not going to win. Winter.

I never complain about the teleporting, because we really don't need to see people mundanely traveling or have the chronology perfectly detailed. Just assume time has passed between scenes and destinations, and you'll mostly be right.
But Varys really was bouncing around this episode, and it was kind of jarring. It makes sense if you do think about it, because Dorne has been absent most season. That scene could have taken place from anytime Varys left Mereen, to the end of the season.
But edited so closely together, it's just a little odd. I think they coulda put Dorne in last episode, for chronology's sake.

Was it his hips? Looked pretty clear to me that he got stabbed in the kidney. And to say that would incapacitate a person is putting it kindly.
Amazing episode, amazing season, hyped for more.

Not really. Grandma Tyrell's son n grandkids were still alive last ep You're correct. Yeah. Teleportating Varys. I'm cool with it.

I wonder what the "official" explanation for the great sept of Baelor being blown to smithereens is. A terrible accident, a devious Dornish plot? The fact that it was terribly convenient for Cersei is probably going to slip nobodys mind

Episode was amazing. The music (and quietness) was so well chosen. Especially in the first scenes in King's landing. Holy shit.
How did some of you not figure out in 6 seasons that there are time jumps between scenes? Or that nobody really cares who is the "rightful" king, but it is more important who is in power. + Show Spoiler +but you probably did figure it out but need something to complain anyway...

All the stuff that happend in the final episode feels a bit rushed. Like from episode 1-7 nothing happend and from 8-10 everything is going crazy. Maybe less of the faceless man and more of Cersei's plan to kill them all would have been nice.
Cersei turned full mad queen/king. Would be fitting if jamie kills her. As he also killed the mad king.
Also there is no way they can defend the capital against Tyrell +Dorne + parts of Iron+ 100k of Dany's army + 3 Dragons. The North and the vale will for sure not support Cersei. So its Cersei + frey against the rest of the world.

Well, at least the last two episodes of the season were great.
Now back to waiting for a year or year and half.
|
No one is going to fight Dany. She will arrive to find nation in chaos, begging for stability.
|
Wow, so much epic shit going on, so many loose ends coming together. One of the best episodes of the whole show for me.
Yet I can only think of a little fun fact: when both are sitting, Tyrion is taller than Daenerys.
|
Holy shit what a finale, so much to talk about.
the Dorne scene has to be a reshot in response to all the "feedback" after S6E01 right? It's like Olenna spoke from the heart of every single Game of thrones fans with how she roasted the Sand snakes and it would explain Varys' teleportation device from Mereen to Dorne and back on Dany's ship.
|
Check the last scene again, you can see some ships have sails in Dornish colours there. It means he didn't teleport back to Mereen instantly but arrived with the Dornish fleet later and offscreen.

What an episode! Too bad I was semi spoiled by all the theories about wildfire but that scene and the MUSIC were fucking terrific. The buildup. Dr Frankenstein and his fetish army. The candles. The panic. Margaery who is the only one smart enough to see through it. (rip Margaery ) The slow crawl to the candles. And the music holy shit the music. Glorious
What did the kid do that made Lancell follow him though? Did Lancell already know the kid was part of Frankenstein's gang?
Travel times are 100% gone from the series but I guess it's required for the plot now, I don't mind anymore, it's all coming to an end anyway.
Olenna asking Obara what her name was again. After the whole 'My name is Obara Sand' meme they just pandered to it lol. They had Olenna admit the Dorne writing was horrible. 10/10
Lets see if Jamie is happy about this move by his sister. He didn't look happy. Also Lannister is all alone now, Vale Stark in the north, Targaryan/Tyrell/Dorne in the South. The lion better sharpen it's claws

I see, I was way too hyped from the episode and the gorgeous dragon shots to notice those details, time for a rewatch.
So on top of her Essos army she already has the backing of Dorne, Highgarden and a big chunk of the Iron island's fleet. Seems like it will be a short reign for Queen Cersey and the series will climax when Dany goes and meet her Nephew in the great war :D

I was a bit drunk and way past my bed time when I wrote this so I want to go a little deeper. Jaime lived his whole adult life as the kingslayer for this, and then yeah. Cersei betrayed the shit out of him AND all of his children are dead now.. she's so fuckin dead.
