http://parahumans.wordpress.com/category/stories-arcs-1-10/arc-1-gestation/1-01/ (link is to chapter 1) Worm is a serial web novel set in a universe of the author's creation where humans with superpowers (parahumans) are a fairly common phenomenon. I can't possibly give a short description that both does it justice and avoids spoilers, but the story follows a young female protagonist who is (at the start of the story) attempting to find her place in the world of superheros/villains. The story is epic in scale, and last time I checked with the author a few weeks ago it was in the neighborhood of 1.5 million words (for perspective, the entirety of George RR Martin's works are around 1.4 million now). The writing is technically excellent, the story is engaging, and a lot of attention is paid to developing the many minor and major characters that appear throughout. It updates 2x a week and the author has not missed a single scheduled update in over 3 years,so it is on pace to finish within the next 6 months or so I think. Anyways, I highly recommend checking this out if you are into this type of story and can stand the suspense of 1-2 cliffhangers a week from now until whenever it concludes. Mandatory disclaimer because someone is going to ask: this is not my work. Not sure I really have any way to prove that, but you can take my word for it or not as you please.

But now that you mention it, I realized now that I never really had a good look at the cover I posted. I guess that goes from reading too much Sci-Fi and Fantasy, which way too often really has nothing to do with the actual story.

It was exactly what I was promised; 'full of life, entertaining, sexy and funny.' I was walking around city, my nose in the book. Good thing I didn't get under car. During that I managed to visit library and got Nikolai Gogol collected tales. I loved Norwegian Wood if your looking for continued thoughts of his on a similar subject check out Sputnik Sweetheart

Another of those books that didn't feel anything special. Nothing particularly wrong, but I wasn't engrossed in it. Not sure what to read next.

Miles better than fucking john scalzi at least Started reading both those books, could not finish either one. Why do people recommend them? Old Man's War in particular is terribly written. edit: i assumed you were talking about old man's war ![]()

![]() ![]() I was surprised how accurate the Fear & Loathing movie was compared to the book. The Rum Diary movie is just absolutely worthless in comparison, though. Both great reads, I'm not sure which one i preferred.
