I didn't know he had a new book out "You're turning into my nemesis a little more for each day. I can't stand Robinson. At first I tried Galileo's Dream, but found it to be way to boring. At first OK, but then it went on and on and on. Skimmed the last 70 pages. Red Mars I couldn't even finish. Everyone was whining all the time and the little "political schemes" and group dynamics did nothing good IIRC. At the moment I'm reading the "The Quiet War" by Paul J. McAuley, which tangents on the same theme as Robinson, and I feel it's more promising. Perhaps a book for you to stay away from, eh ![]()

Anyway the list gives me the shivers especially the comments on the chosen works. The devotion that speaks from the comments is kinda scary especially with the list contents being: "Christianity, Economic Liberalism and the fight against EVIL !!!!!" Anyway: Finished + Show Spoiler + Fiasco by Thomas E. Ricks Excellent read although it really hurts to read how fucked up the process behind the Iraq disaster really was. Confront and Conceal by David E. Sanger great read about the US Cyberwar, the relationship to Pakistan and the Drone program. A little bit apologetic toward the Obama admin and the Drone program but not too much. I guess it is the price you pay for insider informations that you become a little biased Reading: Romeo & Juliet Act III, Scene 2 atm Special Providence, American Foreign Policy and how it Changed the World by Walter Russel Mead. Almost done with this one Up next: + Show Spoiler + The Emperor's Soul ![]() because of this thread and Day[9]'s recommendation. America Unbound, The Bush Revolution In Foreign Policy by Daalder and Lindsay ![]() for my studies Neoconservatism and American Foreign Policy by Danny Cooper ![]() also for my studies

http://edge.org/annual-question Bascially, every year they come up with one question such as 'What will change everything?' or 'What scientific concept would improve everybody's cognitive toolkit?', answered by various scientists of their respective field; each answer/article briefly focuses on a different facet of 'the annual question'. I don't know how popular these kind of sites are... anyway - online for free, if anyone is interested.

![]() ![]() I think I'm having withdrawal symptoms. The last book/story I read was King Lear, which I didn't finish. The half I read was pretty interesting, but later on I just didn't want to read it, or anything else for that matter.

Saramago is a genius, I recommend this book to atheists and religious people. Just be prepared to be surprised no matter what your view on religion is. The ending is one of the best things I've ever read. Edit: going to read slaughterhouse-5 now.
