I honestly think Del Toro just went "meh, who gives a fuck about the dialogue, imma go draw more robots".

But the captain also makes a speech to explain his deeds: Under his rule, no one will be alone. Everyone will fight alongside someone else. They will know they are human because they see each other. Even the scientists are human, who want to learn to think like god & a monster. Read the rest here: http://titusonfilm.corlan.org/2013/07/18/pacific-rim

Biggest complaint was that Gipsy Danger got most (all?) of long fight sequences...would've loved to have seen Crimson Typhoon and Cherno One get more love. I loved Crimson Typhoon + Show Spoiler + Too bad it did a minute worth of gymnastics before getting decapitated.

Didn't let me down lol. I think those who dislike the movie might have expected too much? my guess at least. I think the people who are super disappointed with Pacific Rim are the people who came in looking for some sort of deep plot instead of awesome Robot vs. Monster action. On another note, Box Office Mojo says that it's less than 3 million dollars from the 400 million mark. I smell a sequel!

+ Show Spoiler + I hate how quickly the Cherno Alpha and Crimson Typhoon got taken out. I felt like they both could've had more of the spotlight given their decent careers before the movie began. The Gipsy Danger took way too much of the spotlight in this film. It was also kind of lame that literally every Jaeger gets destroyed over the course of the movie, but I guess it isn't a bad thing depending on the direction they take in the sequel I did like how they started the story "as late as possible" into the narrative, after the Kaiju wars began. This movie easily could've been the second or third movie in the series. I look forward to the sequel.

Transformers, all 3 of them (recent at least), are way better then this Also you guys, like 10 pages of "lets do it, together!" when i dont think i would have picked up on it at all because it was so insignificant had you not blatantly raved about it half the thread Nobody had a problem with the generals (uh..? the black dude.) acting? His fucking speech man. Mako (i guess thats her name, kept thinking FF7 reactor.) was especially bad too. I like the lead actor because im watching SOA right now but the script was pisspoor and made him come off as terrible too when i know he can do better. Dont even get me STARTED on the robots "control system". It was hard to look at let alone form an opinion on. The action was few and far between, i enjoyed the stick fighting part but the robot fights were a real let down for me. Shouting "ELBOW ROCKET!!!!!" only to have a still of the elbow for 5 seconds into a crappy sorta-slowmo-but-not punch really sums it up for me. Thinking about it, the fights were all sluggish as hell and maybe thats what they were going for due to the monsters/robots being mother fucking huge but it did not make for good viewing. I didnt think i could be disappointed with big robots / monsters but this movie killed my inner child. Which is a real shame
